Isaiah 42:19 Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger that I sent? who is blind as he that is perfect, and blind as the Lord's servant?

This whole chapter 42 is all about Jesus.  So Jesus is perfect, then how is He blind and deaf?

What is the scripture telling us?

"Who is blind, but My servant?  or deaf, as My messenger that I sent?"  God does not wish us to hear all that is to be heard, or to see all that is to be seen.  It is a great blessing to close the ears, that we hear not, and the eyes, that we see not.  The greatest anxiety should be to have clear eyesight to discern our own shortcomings, and a quick ear to catch all needed reproof and instruction, lest by our inattention and carelessness we let them slip and become forgetful hearers and not doers of the work.  {1T 707.2}

Clearly telling us that Jesus turned away from the things of this world.

when entering Canaan the people were not to take the things people had. notice that it says to destroy their pictures!!

 Numbers 33:52 Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places:

Job made a covenant with his eyes!!

Isaiah 59:19 KJV So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.

what is this standard?

(1)

Isa 59:19 So they shall fear Jehovah's name from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun.  When the foe comes like a flood, the Spirit of Jehovah shall cause him to flee.  [LITV]

(2)

Isa 59:19 So they shall fear the name of the LORD from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun.  When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall make him flee.  [MKJV]

(3)

And "when the enemy shall come in like a flood," these precious, golden words of promise will come into your mind and strengthen your soul.  "When the enemy shall come in like a flood" that would sweep you from the Rock, "the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him."  What is that standard?  What weapon did Jesus present to the enemy in his temptation in the wilderness? -- The Word of God. He said, "It is written."  {BEcho, January 15, 1893 par. 8}

Check this out....

There is by our side a witness, a heavenly messenger, who will lift up for us a standard against the enemy. He will shut us in with the bright beams of the Sun of Righteousness. Beyond this Satan cannot penetrate. He cannot pass this shield of holy light.  COL 171.3

This is one I have no answer for.

I've heard some Muslims say it refers to one of their blind and deaf "scholars".

 The servant of Isaiah 42 is Jesus.  who is the only one that is perfect?  Jesus

He is blind and deaf to the things of this world.  Turns his eyes away and closes his ears to evil.

Remember His temptation where Satan showed Him the whole world in spender?  Jesus looked away because He knew the world was not that way....
