When I lived in Atlanta, I made friends with some immigrants from Vietnam.  I learned that basically no other American would spend any time to talk with them, and they were very thankful.  Sure, sometimes you might get caught up into giving them stuff, or maybe even get into a dangerous situation, but what would Jesus do in the same situation?  Would he stay in his beautiful church, go to his clean office, eat at his normal bistro for lunch, etc. etc.?  Or would he get out of his comfort zone and seek to save the lost and perishing (which is what we all are)?
