I have been following EarlySDA for almost a decade now. First I was 'Sister in Christ' and now 'Shireen'.
During that time I have come and gone. I have always felt very safe and supported here, which is important to me. I generally post items that are a current concern to me. I appreciate the quick replies that I receive to what are pressing issues to me at the time.
I have enjoyed the feedback I have received from 'Gibs', 'Ed', 'danny winters'/'webmaster' and 'newbie'/'nb' over the years. I miss Gibs.
Please, 'webmaster', 'Ed' and 'nb', can you recommend another place like this on the Internet where I can feel equally safe and supported? I'll still be here, I just need something in addition to the conversation that is happening here.
It's an SDA forum dedicated to discussing and comparing evangelism at a door to door personal level . I am the Adm, and am rusty on the mechanics of how the site works, need practice. http://sdas-unite-jn17rev10.spruz.com
Since my computer doesn:t allow me to make posts (it never displays the code at the bottom needed to post), and my tablet takes forever to type on, and also with this *Activeboard* not even allowing me to login anymore, I:ve sort of lost interest in this forum recently. Right now, I:m borrowing a friend:s computer, which is why the quote marks aren:t appearing properly.....
I spend time on AdVindicate and especially Fulcrum7 nowdays. They are generally conservative SDA sites with mostly conservative posters. However, I:ve just about given up on them, as I find out the more I interact with them, that many of them
1. Aren:t concerned about stopping abortion (or are downright angry about trying to stop abortion)
2. Don:t believe what is in the Bible and SOP is the words of God
3. Believe that *white lies* are OK with God
4. And of course the all-time favorite - that God:s love is unconditional
But fortunately, there are still a few who believe the truth is the truth in all situations, and are working to spread the true gospel.
Your quote, Shireen, about the church being the object thru which God is working and going to work thru, is very good for me at this time.
I appreciate your feedback Webmaster. Yes, it is difficult to find like-minded people, both in the real world and the digital world.
We are surely in the last days. The end is near. I want to be in Christ, each moment of each day. I want to be prepared for the tremendous events ahead.
Every now and then I hear about a church or person really on-fire for God, and it makes me jealous that it isn:t happening around me. I know, I need to be the catalyst for change myself, but when the response is rejection after rejection, after a while you start feeling rejected.......
Here it is, the Sabbath, and I:m staying home, skyping with relatives in America and studying Matthew with them, then browing the web for good Christian material. What should I really be doing?
Use the Michigan Conference Emmanuel Institute links to start personal training: after all though Japan is many things, human heart needs are still there. Green fruit is sour and hard, and ripe fruit is sweet and soft enough to easily eat - the same with people.
1. Prepare the soil of the heart. - kindness that touches heart needs ( once those heart needs are discovered through observation, prayer, asking carefully worded questions to "peel back the onion" gradually, always watching for opportunities yet also watching for positive and negative responses - to determine if spiritually - not ripe - or ripe. )
2. Sow test seeds of universally accepted spiritual truths that can be agreed upon. If a positive response, ask God what Scriptural Truth to sow a few seeds of to test the responses to, and when.
3. Once there is a spiritual interest, ask cautious questions to steer thinking, to desire to consider, studying the Bible.
Once a "spiritually ripe" person is found, and their heart needs are not being met by other religions, and asking has obtained consent to study the Bible and examine it's validity.
Once the Bible study starts, the first goal is to establish the truthfulness and wisdom and eternal nature of the Bible.
Use Youtube video's showing the communications between God and the ancient Chinese in 2500 BC before Moses ever began writing the Book of Genesis, and Prophecy of Daniel Chapter 2, and archeology that validates Scripture.
Once they believe the Bible is the voice of the Creator to them, teach them Jesus Christ & The Great Controversy Saga from the Bible, then Sabbath & the Ten Commandments.
4. Harvest - baptism by immersion as a Seventh Day Adventist member ( so they understand their new position and knowingly join and make that commitment )
5. Preserving the crop - Translate the Michigan Conference Discipleship Manual & Mentor's guide into Japanese & teach the new disciple, how to them self, win souls.
Using Audioverse you can listen to Pastor Mark Howard the Director Of Emmanuel Institute of Evangelism explain how to train to win souls, practice winning souls, go out and attempt to win souls. Jesus promises this : Mark 1:17 And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.
Also go to dropbox and set up your own account, then email me, and I will email you a contact email for communicating with Pastor Mark Howard the Dir. or Pastor Daniel Francoise the Assoc Dir at Emmanuel institute.
My summer vacation ended last Sunday with a trip down to the island of Shikoku and back. My main purpose was to go to the SDA church in one city there. They have around 20 who attend every week, the 2nd largest on the whole island of a little over 4,000,000 inhabitants.
Japanese people generally have zero interest in anything religious. It is said that over 70% of the population is atheist or agnostic. That is especially true among young people. The idea is strong, that religion causes war. There is also a strong feeling that Jesus Christ is a western god, one of many. And their native religion Shinto is basically animism, so god is in everything. Shinto thinking is very strong here, but it is not really seen as religion by hardly anyone. It is just part of Japanese culture to treat objects with respect etc., without a thot at all that is coming from the Shinto religion.
Yet, many Japanese have shown in surveys, that if they were required to choose one religion, many, maybe even a majority, would choose Christianity. Christianity has a good reputation as helping people with hospitals and schools, donating in disasters, etc. But, most people say it is just not for them. Japanese people generally move in groups, and if you intentionally do something others in your group might not like, you may just lose your entire identity and friends and work and everything.
So they have enough of everything they want, and the idea of God is foreign to them, so they just ignore him basically.
Ive made friends with many Japanese. Ive had Bibles studies with quite a few Japanese. Ive worked years with them, helping them in many ways etc., and yet, none of them have been moved enough to want to become Christian. Very possibly the problem is with me. But it is true, that Japan is considered one of the hardest grounds on the planet for evangelism. I probably know more foreign missionaries who have come here and lost their faith, than to know of foreign missionaries coming here and helping Japanese find their faith! (speaking from personal experience with people Ive had contact with here in Japan).
The pastor at the church in Shikoku I went to last Sabbath talked about some of his experiences with evangelism. He talked about how some missionary (Korean?) came and rented a hall seating 200 people, did lots of ground work, worked with the SDA churches in the area, and when he came, only around 45 people showed up, and 40 of them were already SDAs. The 5 non-members all stopped coming. This pastor said his own experience as an assistant pastor over 20 years ago, was that it was his job to give Bible studies to people who were requesting it at the SDA English school (SDA English schools were huge in Japan until right around 20 years ago when the leaders basically made all the foreign managers of the schools pack up and go back to their own countries). He mentioned how he gave Bible studies to 2 young women for around 2 years, and then asked them if they were interested in baptism. Both of them stopped coming to his studies, as they felt pressured. After he moved to another church, he heard that each of them decided to get baptised, one of the 2 years later, one of them 10 years later.
In a population of 128,000,000 in this country, around 0.9% are said to be Christian. We have around 15,000 SDAs. There are usually around 300 baptisms a year. I would guess around 30-40% of that are foreigners living in Japan, and around 50% are children of SDA parents. So that shows you, that there are probably less than 30 Japanese people with no prior background in SDA that are coming into the church each year in this country. That pastor mentioned (which Ive known too for a long time), that it is much more common to hear of a Japanese young person who became Christian while doing a home-stay abroad or studying abroad, than to hear of a young person becoming a Christian while in Japan. It just doesnt happen.
Like that pastor said, the best ways he knows to lead Japanese people to Christ are thru hospitals, schools, and English schools. He talked about how happy he was to go back to a SDA junior high school recently in Okinawa, and see some of the kids he worked with around 8 years ago who are now young leaders in the various churches there in Okinawa. He also talked about his experiences with English schools and leading people to Christ as Ive mentioned above. He said the standard SDA way of having an evangelistic series tho, doesnt do anything.
I know Ive tried leaving pamphlets in public places before. That works to a degree in America, but zero in Japan, as first, they dont pick up something that isnt theirs, second, they would consider it stealing to take it. Ive stuffed mailboxes, between a SDA friend and me, we stuffed 5,000 mailboxes, and got zero response.
Personally, Ive seen that talking about God and Jesus is easily acceptable with kids up to about 3rd grade. By 5th/6th grade they are getting hard, and by 9th grade they are basically totally lost to spiritual things. So the best thing I know to do, is to work with young kids in a setting where I can talk about Jesus with them at times. Of course that is problematic at a school that hires me to teach, but I have many private students and especially the kids at the church where I teach every Tuesday (around 30 kids from age 4-12). Im very thankful for Christmas, as that is the only time of the year when people are open, even expecting me to say something about the meaning of Christmas.
My experience is that Evolution is the greatest philosophical obstacle to Christianity here. Ive read that for a govt. school system, Japan was the first in the world to introduce Evolution (in 1870 or so). So I try to insert as many things as I can when teaching, that God is the Creator, as nothing can create itself!
Well, Ive written maybe too much, but this is a real burden on heart how to reach the Japanese people. Nothing seems to work. The few people who do become SDAs seem, generally speaking, to have mental problems. Basically, they dont fit into society anyway, so they have little to lose by choosing Jesus. I would say around 20% of the population feels like they dont fit in, so that could be a great pool to work with, but I dont have any idea on what to do...... It is a bit of a problem I think too, when someone comes to the church for the first time, and they see what are mostly elderly women and odd people. Really, who wants to join a group like that?!
These are not SDA links that I know of, but consider their message as to whether the Bible, and Jesus are "white man's religion", and the technological questions some links pose that darwin can not answer .
Genesis Code Hidden Within The Ancient Chinese Language
1. watch the videos and create a list of scientific and historical questions.
2. ask important men and their wives to view these scientific and historical video's and ask questions .
3. use the It is Written Bible study - Lesson 1 "Can God be trusted ? " ( Daniel chapter 2 ) to get them started.
4. Explain that this is an analytical study using skilled educated strong minds to evaluate - is the Christian God & the Christian Bible - real, accurate, universal, and trustworthy ?

Please contact my wife on facebook and ask her about her women's only forum.
Linda at this email hillssuper@gmail.com . I asked her permission.
often I write free or gratis on the information I stuff or give out...hopefully that will relieve the honest folks
but frankly, here, there are some cultures that think nothing of stealing anything... your hand is the 5 finger discount
I will keep thinking about ways to reach people... teaching the way you do seems to be the best but you will have to wait a long time to see the fruits...
God may have some other ideas... keep praying... disasters and death can sometimes open doors that were once shut...unfortunately it takes a lot to shake some up
