Where do these issues fit in the context of the three angels' messages? I'm sure there is plenty to discuss about each of the ten issues. However, what should we be focusing on in these last days as we prepare to meet God?
In the days of the giving of the Three Angels' Messages, we have inspired counsel to work to better the morals of society. Ellen White spent quite a bit of time herself working to get alcohol prohibited by law. This is good and right.
But today, I would say a majority of us Seventh-day Adventists in rich countries do not agree that we are to work to change society. It seems like the idea that anything we do that the "Religious Right" or "Roman Catholic Church" is for will help bring in the Sunday Law has emasculated us. Not only that, but it is to the point where if people do work to uplift the morals of society and that happens to be a goal of either of the above two groups, we actually get accused of being a Catholic or Evangelical, and are said to be working to bring in the Sunday Law! No, really, this has happened to me recently by two different commenters on a SDA site.
It is mind-boggling that many of God's remnant church have gone from being the salt of the earth, to be so selfishly worried about the coming NSL, that they don't do anything for the betterment of society.
.
What should we be focusing on... Of course Jesus.
In our personal life, we need to be like leaven among the world - doing good like Jesus, and also gaining in wisdom in the words of God.
I got a email the other day with this quote from 7ST (1906) by Ellen White:
Every day you should learn something new from the Scriptures. Search them as for hid treasure, for they contain the words of eternal life.
