This is very good news indeed, as many people finally figure out that sugary drinks (and "diet" drinks) are not healthy for you.  This article states that bottled water sales are set to overtake soda in the next two years - yay!

The drop in soda consumption represents the single largest change in the American diet in the last decade and is responsible for a substantial reduction in the number of daily calories consumed by the average American child. From 2004 to 2012, children consumed 79 fewer sugar-sweetened beverage calories a day, according to a large government survey, representing a 4 percent cut in calories over all. As total calorie intake has declined, obesity rates among school-age children appear to have leveled off.

other than the sugar which is no longer sugar but high fructose corn syrup, is the fact that all sodas contain phosphoric acid which eats away the enamel of the teeth...  by the time someone reaches age 40, all the teeth are gone

even when I tell people this, [they say, don't tell me I have to give up my pop!]  they still cannot stop drinking the stuff and I watch their teeth fall out and rot one by one...  it is just terrible...

i've been accused of going from preaching to meddling...  don't they see that I care?
