Test everything before it shall be presented to the flock of God. . . . In messages that profess to be from Heaven, expressions will be made that are misleading, and if the influence of these things be accepted, it will lead to exaggerated movements, plans, and devising that will bring in the very things that Satan would have current--a strange spirit, an unclean spirit, under the garments of sanctity; a strong spirit to overbear everything. Fanaticism will come in, and will so mingle and interweave itself with the workings of the Spirit of God, that many will accept it all as from God, and will be deceived and misled thereby. {3SM 403.1}
As we near the end of time, falsehood will be so mingled with truth, that only those who have the guidance of the Holy Spirit will be able to distinguish truth from error. We need to make every effort to keep the way of the Lord. We must in no case turn from His guidance to put our trust in man. The Lords angels are appointed to keep strict watch over those who put their faith in the Lord, and these angels are to be our special help in every time of need. Every day we are to come to the Lord with full assurance of faith, and to look to Him for wisdom. . . . Those who are guided by the Word of the Lord will discern with certainty between falsehood and truth, between sin and righteousness. {OFC 327.6}
It is imperative that we have His Spirit of truth. For sure we can do nothing without and are nothing with out Him. He, as Paul states is our hope of Glory and I would add, our one and only hope of Glory!
What does it take that we may have His indwelling in us? Folks there is no doubt about it, it takes full and total surrender and not a whit withheld giving Him to be the full and total master of our soul temples! It is the very, very few who can and will do this!
Where we are the weakest is where we are taken of Satan and that is the flesh which we are and keeps demanding gratifications of no end. The lust of the eyes, flesh and appetite of so many sins the flesh has been caught up in.
Being truly reborn again requires a death, yes a spiritual death and then a rebirth of the old man into a new man walking no more to the demands of the flesh but dedicated to walk only by His Spirit's guiding and not resurrecting old man self of the flesh again.
Ro 8:36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Ro 8:12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. Ro 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. Ro 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Ro 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Ro 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
