What does everyone feel about so many 'minced oaths' used in the media?  I hear so many people using these words and phrases and they think they are okay and alright to use because they heard it on tv.

Here is some explanation and examples.  I've read it is blasphemous too and vulgar.

1Jo 4:6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

many people are unaware and think that they are not doing anything wrong by saying these things...

I want to shut my ears when I hear this stuff for fear it will get into my own brain and I will also repeat them...

I guess maybe I'm a prude.  It bothers me so much and I fear that many do not believe or or know they are breaking a commandment.

One church locally tells its members to say 'Jesus Christ' over and over and over real fast and eventually they will be speaking in tongues...

False Speaking in Tongues

     Fanaticism, false excitement, false talking in tongues, and noisy exercises have been considered gifts which God has placed in the church. Some have been deceived here. The fruits of all this have not been good. "Ye shall know them by their fruits." Fanaticism and noise have been considered special evidences of faith. Some are not satisfied with a meeting unless they have a powerful and happy time. They work for this and get up an excitement of feeling. But the influence of such meetings is not beneficial. When the happy flight of feeling is gone they sink lower than before the meeting because their happiness did not come from the right source.  {LDE 159.4}

     The most profitable meetings for spiritual advancement are those which are characterized with solemnity and deep searching of heart, each seeking to know himself and, earnestly and in deep humility, seeking to learn of Christ.--1T 412 (1864).  {LDE 160.1}

Hear Paul,

1Co 14:18 I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:
1Co 14:19 Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.
1Co 14:20 Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.
1Co 14:21 ¶ In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.
1Co 14:22 Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.
1Co 14:23 If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?
1Co 14:24 But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:

1Jo 4:5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
