SDA president Ted Wilson again stands strong for murdering the littlest babies (abortion)

Today i received a letter from someone who has just gotten a reply from Ted Wilson regarding the church's stance on abortion.

"Dear Brother Rotthoff,

Thank you for your recent letter to Elder Wilson advocating the Seventh-day Adventist church take a stronger position against abortion by eliminating all exceptions from its guidelines on the subject and mandating all hospitals within the SDA health system to discontinue the practice of all abortions.  Elder Wilson has asked that I respond to you in his behalf.

The SDA church does not function as conscience to its members.  God gave each individual freedom of choice.  Accordingly, the church supports freedom of choice in matters not related to doctrinal beliefs.

The intent of the 'Guidelines on Abortion' is to provide Biblical principles to help individuals faced with this difficult moral dilemma in making a decision in keeping with the value God places on human life.  Any attempts to coerce women ether to remain pregnant or to terminate pregnancy should be rejected as infringements of personal freedom.

In the case of SDA hospitals, the General Co0nference has been assured our hospitals do not perform on-demand abortions.

The role of the church is to alleviate as much as possible the unfortunate social, economic, and psychological factors that may cause an individual to opt for an abortion and to care redemptively for those suffering the consequences of individual decisions on this issue.

We thank you for sharing your views with Elder Wilson.

May God continue to bless you.

Sincerely, (Signed) Orville D. Parchment   Assistant to the President"

Two things mentioned make me angry. One is the standard line: "The SDA church does not function as conscience to its members".  This is just ridiculous.  But the more troubling statement is: "Any attempts to coerce women ether to remain pregnant or to terminate pregnancy should be rejected as infringements of personal freedom."  This is exactly the same line used by all the "atheistic-liberal" believers.

Please explain, Mr. Wilson, exactly how is it "coercion" to keep someone from murdering someone?  What about responsibility for the act of having intercourse in the first place?  Does human life have so little value for the Seventh-day Adventist church now, that supporting that life is an "infringement of personal freedom"?

Let's apply Mr. Wilson's response, using the same logic, to a different moral issue - drunkenness.

Any attempts to coerce women to either remain drunken, or to terminate their drunkenness should be rejected as infringements of personal freedom.

There will never be revival or reformation in the Seventh-day Adventist church until we repent of this grevious sin of aborting the littlest humans created in the image of God.

What i see happening, is that the SDA church has effectively conceded the moral high ground to the Catholic Church, so that when the Time of Trouble comes, people will naturally look to that church for moral guidance instead of the SDA church.  Just how badly do we wish to be the tail?

A Solemn Warning

     Impenitence has taken hold upon some who once acted a prominent part in the work of God. There is on their part a settling down to a fatal hardness of heart, a confirmed resistance of the Spirit's pleading. Should death overtake them as they are now, the dreadful words would be spoken, "Weighed in the balance, and found wanting."  {PH058 1.1}

     It is possible for men to offer the Saviour outward homage, to be Christians in profession, to have a form of godliness, while the heart whose loyalty he prizes above all else, is estranged from him. Such ones have a name to live, but they are dead.  {PH058 1.2}

     I am in great distress and agony as I see how determined are some who have often been warned in their refusal to hear the words of entreaty. They have linked their arms in the arm of the deceiver, and are led captive by him at his will. I heard the words spoken, "So long have they been impregnated with the life and customs of the enemy that they have no desire to break away from his companionship."  {PH058 1.3}

     To the marriage supper of the Lamb will come many who have not on the wedding garment,--the robe purchased for them with His life-blood. From lips that never make a mistake come the words, "Friend, how camest thou in hither not having on the wedding garment?" Those addressed are speechless. They know that words would be useless. The truth, with its sanctifying power, has not been brought into the soul, and the tongue that once spoke so readily of the truth is now silent. The words are spoken, "Take them out of My presence. They are not worthy to taste of My supper."  {PH058 1.4}

     As they are separated from the loyal ones, Christ looks upon them with deep sorrow. They occupied high positions of trust in God's work, but they have not the life insurance policy that would have entitled them to eternal life. From the quivering lips of Christ come the mournful words of regret, "I loved them; I gave My life for them; but they persisted in rejecting My pleadings, and continued in sin. O that thou hadst known, even thou, in this thy day, the things which belong to thy peace! But now they are hid from thine eyes."  {PH058 2.1}

     Today Christ is looking with sadness upon those whose characters He must at last refuse to acknowledge. Inflated with self-sufficiency, they hope that it will be well with their souls. But at the last great day the mirror of detection reveals to them the evil that their hearts have practised, and shows to them at the same time the impossibility of reform. Every effort was made to bring them to repentance. But they refused to humble their hearts. Now the bitter lamentation is heard, "The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and my soul is not saved."  {PH058 2.2}

     Satan and his angels will appear on this earth as men, and will mingle with those of whom God's word declares, "Some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils." The world is full of men and women whom Satan uses as his agencies. Christ has bought them with a price,--even His life-blood. But they have given themselves into Satan's control. They are blind, and have forgotten that they were purged from their sins.  {PH058 2.3}

     In his sermon on the mount, the Son of God mourns over lost souls. Before His eyes pass the millions of souls yet unborn who would multiply their evil works, reject His pleadings, and rob Him of the glory that He would have received had they allowed Him to impart to them the divine nature.  {PH058 3.1}

     Christ tells us how in the last great day ministers, elders, evangelists, physicians, teachers, will confront Him with their claims. They will plead how they have led the singers in their songs of praise, how they have waved the palm branches, how they have spoken of Him before thousands. "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Thy name," they say, "and in Thy name done many wonderful works?"  {PH058 3.2}

     But Christ says, "Then will I profess unto them, I never knew you; depart from Me, ye that work iniquity. O that you had known, even in the day of your visitation, when like sweetest music, mercy's voice fell upon your ears, the things that belonged unto your peace. But you were not ready. If you had been faithful to the warnings of the word; if you had dismissed Satan, instead of linking your arm in his; if you had preserved untarnished the principles of right; if you had obeyed My commandments, broken with ungodly advisers, scorned their impious bribes, which tempted you to worldly honor; if you had lifted the cross, and followed Jesus in self-denial, I could have welcomed you into My presence. But you have not cared for My society, and now you have no power to go from the snare.  {PH058 3.3}

     "I offered you My saving grace, but you refused it, and chose the side of the enemy, even as the priests and rulers did. You refused to be touched by My dying agony on the cross, and mocked at My humiliation. So will I refuse to acknowledge you. I weep for your future, but you have not cared to weep for yourselves. I was pledged to bear you and care for you, even as a father beareth and loveth his own son that serveth him. But you would not harmonize with Me.  {PH058 3.4}

     "The precious invitation was often given, 'Let him take hold of My strength, that he may make peace with Me, and he shall make peace with Me.' But you would none of My counsel. You have caused many to follow your sinful ways, and now your punishment has come. You will receive as your works have been. You must lose everlasting life. You have chosen your own ways, and with such ways, such sentiments, such characters, you could not enter the gates of the Holy city."  {PH058 4.1}

     What a scene is this! I pass over the ground again and again, bowed down in an agony that no tongue can express, as I see the end of the many, many who have refused to receive their Saviour. Justice will take the throne, and the arm strong to save will show itself strong to smite and destroy the enemies of the kingdom of God. Christ will lay bare the motives and deeds of every one. Every hidden action will stand out as clearly before the doer as if proclaimed before the universe.

Ellen G. White. Sanitarium, Cal., Oct. 1, 1903.

***************************************************

I once read a non SOP SDA book on health from the 1920's and it's author said since SDA's hold life sacred birth control was discouraged and abortion was thought of as murder.

If that accurately reflected SDA thought in the 1920's how much has changed.

" And because they failed to accomplish their purpose they hardened their hearts to go still further. The king commanded that the male children should be killed as soon as they were born. Satan was the mover in these matters. He knew that a deliver was to be raised up among the Hebrews to rescue them from oppression. He thought that if he could move the king to destroy the male children, the purpose of God would be defeated. The women feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the male children alive. The women dare not murder the Hebrew children, and because they obeyed not the command of the king, the Lord prospered them. As the king of Egypt was informed that his command had not been obeyed he was very angry. He then made his command more urgent and extensive. He charged all his people to keep a strict watch, saying, "Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive." {3SG 179.1}

"  Marriage has received Christ's blessing, and it is to be regarded as a sacred institution. True religion does not counterwork the Lord's plans. God ordained that man and woman should be united in holy wedlock, to raise up families that, crowned with honour, would be symbols of the family in heaven. And at the beginning of His public ministry Christ gave His decided sanction to the institution that had been sanctioned in Eden. Thus He declared to all that He will not refuse His presence on marriage occasions, and that marriage, when joined with purity and holiness, truth and righteousness, is one of the greatest blessings ever given to the human family. Priests and popes have made laws forbidding people to marry, and secluding them in monasteries. These laws and restrictions were devised by Satan to place men and women in unnatural positions. Thus Satan has tempted human beings to disregard the law of marriage as a thing unholy, but at the same time he has opened the door for the indulgence of human passion. Thus have come into existence some of the greatest evils which curse our world,--adultery, fornication, and the murder of innocent children born out of wedlock.  {BEcho, August 28, 1899 par. 5}  {ST, August 30, 1899 par. 5} {10MR 197.4 - 198.1}

Killing their own children - How did God respond then ?  Is "I change not" Malachi 3:6 still in force ?

Leviticus 18:21  And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD.

Deuteronomy 18:10  There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,

2 Kings 16:3  But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel.

2 Kings 17:17  And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

2 Kings 21:6  And he made his son pass through the fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much wickedness in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

2 Kings 23:10  And he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.

2 Chronicles 33:6  And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

Jeremiah 32:35  And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

Ezekiel 16:21  That thou hast slain my children, and delivered them to cause them to pass through the fire for them?

Ezekiel 20:26  And I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that openeth the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the LORD.

Ezekiel 20:31  For when ye offer your gifts, when ye make your sons to pass through the fire, ye pollute yourselves with all your idols, even unto this day: and shall I be enquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will not be enquired of by you.

Ezekiel 23:37  That they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands, and with their idols have they committed adultery, and have also caused their sons, whom they bare unto me, to pass for them through the fire, to devour them.

Have they forgotten that the Investigative Judgment is still in process and time does not put any statute on limitations upon God's books, only Christ's interceded blood blots out sins ?

We got a response from Orville D. Parchment, but what about evidence of response or stance of Ted Wilson personally ?  Not having an official policy is a form of non action.

Psalms 106:3  Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.

Psalms 119:2  Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.

Proverbs 8:32  Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.

Revelation 14:12  Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

Matthew 19:18  He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

1 John 3:15  Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

abortionists will find a high penalty enforced by divine decree.

Matthew 25:

31 ¶  When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32  And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33  And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34  Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35  For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36  Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37  Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38  When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39  Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40  And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41  Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42  For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43  I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

44  Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45  Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46  And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Ted Wilson's assistant answered, but a direct set of questions to Ted Wilson are needed with direct answers from Ted Wilson.

quoting Scripture

John 7:50  Nicodemus saith unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,)

51  Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth?

I really do appreciate your posting of relevant things, Ed. smile

I've been sighing and crying about abortion in our SDA for quite a while, and made a video about it last year.  I praise God it has gotten over 2,000 views:

The transcript of the video is here:

http://great-controversy-movie.com/blog/?p=553

Yes, our SDA church does have an official "Guidelines on Abortion" document.  Someone has made a parody of that, calling their parody "Guidelines on Stealing".  I made a shorter parody and called it "Guidelines on breaking the Sabbath".

Orville Parchment writes from the Office of the President, so what he writes is basically the same as Ted Wilson writing it himself.  I respect Br. Wilson very much, but his stance on this issue is totally against God's words.  Personally, i think it may have something to do with his father, as Neal Wilson was the one who publicly made the SDA church accepting of abortions.  Neal Wilson said many things against God's words, so no doubt that would be hard to be his son who would want to honor his father, while trying to honor his Father at the same time.

The following is verbatim of a letter that was recently sent to Pastor Ted Wilson, president of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and his assistant, Br. Orville Parchment.  There were approximately 20 names attached to this letter.  What do you think?

Dear Elder Wilson and Brother Parchment:                August 7, 2013

In your letter dated July 17, 2013, you indicated that Elder Wilson had asked that you speak in his behalf in response to my letter.  It would seem proper to reply to you both.  We do appreciate your response and thank you for it.  However as we remain miles apart in our understanding of God's purpose for His church and the application of His law, it is good for us to dialogue.

In your second paragraph you state that our church "does not function as a conscience to its members."  I would respectfully ask, what in fact is the function of the church?  Is it not to teach and disciple its members?  Then in the same setting you use the term "freedom of choice" twice.  It seems to us that this term has been worn-out by its use in the world attempting to prove that it is a women's "given" right.   That what is in her womb is a part of her body, that she can deal with it the same as she would her tonsils, or to deal with a wart on her finger.  We have to wonder if the woman that is "with child", and believes that it is a part of her body, ever stopped to realize that she now has four eyes, four ears, four arms and four legs and fifty percent of the time will have  male sex organs, all as a part of her body.

We  do agree that the Creator has given us the freedom of choice.  Our personal belief is that this is the most important of all gifts given to mankind.  Even greater than the gift God gave in the life, ministry,  and death of His son.  Why?  Because if He had not given us the freedom of choice, there would not have been the necessity of the cross.

So yes, the woman is given the God given choice to murder her unborn child.  This God given choice extends beyond that, even to the murder of the child in her arms, or for that matter to destroy the life of her husband.  But to exercise this freedom of choice does not make it "right".

Our medical institutions were established to preserve and prolong human life.  Their mission is healing, not killing.  You are no doubt acquainted with the Gazette, a Maryland news paper.  I have just read an article published in that paper some time ago, and I quote the following:

"Adventist Health Care also runs a primary-care clinic for the uninsured in Shady Grove Adventist Hospital's Germantown emergency center.  The clinic now has a pre- and post-natal department for uninsured patients that provides family planning, according to Washington Adventist Hospital's spokeswoman Lydia Parris.

Adventist Health Care is owned by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, which has no religious policies governing health care.  Adventist hospitals perform abortions and provide a full range of reproductive care, Parris said.

'We understand that these are decisions made between a woman and her physician and do not interfere with that individual decision', she said.

Parris said Adventist Health Care is staying out of the church and state fight of Holy Cross's religious doctrine but that her organization opposes Holy Cross's plans for Germantown because it's poor planning and too close to Shady Grove's emergency department."

Interesting, wouldn't you agree?  Could there be a bit of irony involved here since this incident occurred "in the back-yard" of the world headquarters of the Seventh-day Adventist Church?  This we understand was additionally carried in other Media.  Since there appears to be a serious conflict here we would respectfully ask that you make some statement that would provide a clear understanding.  We also  request that you supply us with the source of the "assurance" you claim to have that the Seventh-day Adventist medical institutions  do not provide abortions.

We also have deep concern that you have ignored the reports given by Adventist Hospitals to a Maryland government Commission (HSCRC).  In addition you have ignored the statements given by three ranking administration officers, who have confirmed that our hospitals do indeed provide abortion services.

Abortion IS included in our doctrinal beliefs.   The Ten Commandments are the very basis of our doctrines, and the killing of innocent human beings, regardless of their size or location is a direct violation of the sixth commandment.  What better description of innocent human life could there be than the unborn.

The miracle of creation is manifested in the present each time a human conception takes place.  Both the Bible and the SOP supplies an abundance of evidence that it is a "child" in the womb.  In the dictionary a child is defined as a human being, and if there are any requiring additional proof, it can be readily obtained in the scientific community that human life begins at conception.  One of my favorite text in dealing with the concern we have that the life in the womb is precious in the sight of the Lord, is Ezekiel 18:19,20.  Here is over-whelming evidence that it is not God's intent to declare capital punishment on the innocent child for the crime of his father.   In our opinion the church needs to divorce itself from the destruction of human life and stop profiting from the greatest genocide the human race has ever engaged in.

So my brothers, we greatly desire unity, but when one part of the body is supporting the murder of innocent lives, we have a problem.  Our fledging organization is growing at a rapid rate and we are sure that its objectives will produce a very worthwhile and valuable goal.  So we encourage you to think and pray about this important issue.  We long for dramatic evidence that revival and reformation be evident.  We long for the Latter Rain to be poured out.  We long for Jesus to come.  After all, this author has the desire to be a part of  seeing the Great Commission completed,  and he is in his 85th year of life.  Time is running out, at least for some of us.

Respectfully,

For one, I cannot see any reformation back to solid SDAdventism, it is not going to happen.  It don't have time now to get turned around I do not believe.  It began turning away after 1888 and acceleration of apostate things have come in since.

Just get in this one and remain a solid SDA, - - Mt 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Just worship Him in SPIRIT  and in TRUTH!

Joh 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him "MUST"worship him in spirit and in truth.

God has a church. It is not the great cathedral, neither is it the national establishment, neither is it the various denominations; it is the people who love God and keep His commandments. "Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them" (Matthew 18:20). Where Christ is even among the humble few, this is Christ's church, for the presence of the High and Holy One who inhabiteth eternity can alone constitute a church.  {UL 315.5}
     Where two or three are present who love and obey the commandments of God, Jesus there presides, let it be in the desolate place of the earth, in the wilderness, in the city enclosed in prison walls. The glory of God has penetrated the prison walls, flooding with glorious beams of heavenly light the darkest dungeon. His saints may suffer, but their sufferings will, like the apostles of old, spread their faith and win souls to Christ and glorify His holy name. The bitterest opposition expressed by those who hate God's great moral standard of righteousness should not and will not shake the steadfast soul who trusts fully in God. . . .  {UL 315.6}
     They that will be doers of the word are building securely, and the tempest and storm of persecution will not shake their foundation, because their souls are rooted to the eternal Rock.--Letter 108, Oct. 28, 1886, to her older sister and her husband who had not accepted the Sabbath truth.  {UL 315.7}

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

 seems that things have gotten TOO BIG to do anything about some of these things...

just to note that the hospitals are not connected with the church...they are run by ceos that are not even of the same faith...it is purely a business...

our life style centers are the best place to go for health care these days

I'm not sure what you meant by "not connected", Anonymous, but our Adventist hospitals definitely are connected to our SDA denomination.

Let's look at one example - Glendale Adventist Medical Center in Glendale, California.

http://www.adventistyearbook.org/default.aspx?page=ViewEntity&EntityID=18217

According to the above link, which is part of the the official Adventist Yearbook, Glendale Adventist Medical Center's parent field is the Pacific Union Conference.  PUC's parent field is the North America Division.  NAD's parent field is the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

So without doubt, as common sense also tells us, Adventist hospitals definitely are connected to the Adventist church.

Let's examine the question of the people who are in charge of these enterprises.  Again, let's look at Glendale Adventist Medical Center.

Kevin Roberts, former ceo of Castle Medical Center in Hawaii, has recently become ceo of Glendale Adventist Medical Center. He graducated from Pacific Union College, and says that he is a "Christian", but i cannot verify exactly that he, himself is a SDA.  This website says he plays acoustic guitar on Saturday afternoons at the Kailua SDA church: http://www.hawaiibusiness.com/Hawaii-Business/June-2009/My-Favorite-Things/

Here, his boss makes a statement about him: "In a statement, Robert G. Carmen, president and chief executive of Adventist Health and chairman of the board, praised Roberts' service and track record.  His distinct blend of clinical and administrative leadership, coupled with long-standing commitment to our mission, will serve [Glendale Adventist] and its community well, Carmen said. http://articles.glendalenewspress.com/2011-09-29/news/tn-gnp-0929-ceo_1_medical-center-names-adventist-health-morre-dean

Of course the most famous Adventist hospital, Loma Linda University Medical Center, is listed directly under the General Conference as a Conference institution.  The President and CEO, Richard Hart, identifies himself as Seventh-day Adventist in this article:

http://www.llu.edu/news/today/today_story.page?id=1505

I understand very well that our SDA hospitals have fallen far away from God's original plan.  But to say that they are not connected with the SDA church is not true.  Since some of our SDA hospitals have been documented to provide abortion on demand, it is high time that we, as members, call on our leaders to put a stop to this "devilish practice" as James White put it, and repent and turn to God.

I've not heard of those and I'm not surprised that LL has a sda ceo as the whole town is sdas

but like florida hospital in orlando or the ones in washington ...they are independent

Please explain your definition of "independent".

The fact has been abundantly proven that "Adventist" hospitals are controlled by the SDA church.

tithe does not fund the hospitals and many of the hospitals have surgeons and doctors that are not sda and many ceos are not sda....it is run more like a business than a church

Agreed totally that most of the Adventist hospitals are "run more like a business than a church", and that many, if not most, of the doctors and perhaps even ceos of the individual hospitals are not Seventh-day Adventist.

However, the fact remains, that Adventist hospitals definitely are connected to the SDA Church.  They are not "independent" from the church.  The SDA Church has final authority over what goes on in those hospitals, and has the authority to sell them and change leaders in them when desired.  It really matters not whether tithe goes to the hospitals or not.  I doubt the Pacific Press gets any tithe money either, but it certainly is a SDA Church institution.

To make the suggestion that somehow Adventist hospitals are not connected to the Adventist Church, so that shouldn't reflect poorly on the Adventist Church is very troubling, as that is an attempt to play down this terrible sin of abortion that we, as Seventh-day Adventists, are supporting.

it is important that the tithe does not go to supporting the hospitals... this makes a big difference to many

oh and sda doctors do not do the abortions... it is done by doctors not of our faith

let me clarify something....

first, I do not believe in killing

second, it is horrifying that these hospitals do this kind of thing

third, many sdas don't like it either but there is nothing we can do about it

just wanted to clarify this in case you might have thought otherwise

One might truly be surprised if we truly knew how many SDA's think it is woman's right to abort a pregnancy.  My wife is one of them!

Ouch!  That must be painful, Gibs.

NB, Seventh-day Adventist doctors DO perform abortions, and abortions ARE still being done in our SDA hospitals, and YES, we must sigh and cry for these abominations done in our midst, and not take a defeatist attitude of "there is nothing we can do about it".  This last statement of yours is very troubling.  This defeatist attitude is totally foreign to Christianity and the essence of what it means to be a Christian.  Can you imagine God telling his Son: "The world you made is gone to pot, but there is nothing we can do about it".  Or maybe Ellen and James White when discussing the churches keeping Sunday, or the slavery issue, or the temperance issue, or the dress issue etc. etc.?  What happened to "I can do all things thru Christ who strengthens me"?

Anyway, here is an article that shows that a new building on La Sierra Campus is being named after a Seventh-day Adventist abortionist:

http://www.christianitytoday.com/gleanings/2013/february/adventist-university-names-new-center-for-alleged.html

Dr. Edward Allred is the owner of what is called perhaps the biggest abortion provider in the state of California.  In an interview in 1980 by the San Diego Union newspaper, he is described to have the "largest chain of abortion clinics in California".  His interview is offensive for even a secularist, but for a Seventh-day Adventist, it is horrifying.  It is available in its entirety here:

http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/29060410/ALLRED/NEWS_ARTICLE.pdf

Nic Samojluk, who is probably the most outspoken, scholarly SDA critic of our church's position on abortion, recently wrote: " (I received information from)Health Services Cost Review Commission, [HSCRC] a State of Maryland agency charged with the responsibility of acting as a repository of hospital data and the services they provide to the public. From said source I was able to secure statistics for two Adventist hospitals, but I want to focus on one of them for which statistics are available from other sources.

Abortion Statistics for our Washington Adventist Hospital [WAH]

1975-1982: 1492, which is equivalent to 213 per year
1992: 547
1993: 287 from January through June [half a year] which gives us an estimated 574/year
2006: 47
2007: 48
2008:36
2009: 27"

While it is good to see the number go down, there are strong indications that the abortions are still be performed by doctors serving our Adventist hospitals, but just that the actual procedure is being carried out in the doctor's private clinics, rather than in the hospitals themselves.

Ministry magazine carried an article about this issue way back in 1991:

https://www.ministrymagazine.org/archive/1991/08/abortion-history-of-adventist-guidelines

May we DO something about this, to help save as many of the littlest ones as possible.  If all SDAs would contact their pastors and conference and general conference officials, i have no doubt that something would be done to stop this devilish practice.

Let's not just preach the 4th commandment, but the 6th and all the other commandments too!

My name is Nick Scavo I have been an Adventist for 40 years also a former Marine and Viet Nam  Vet I have been around the block to say the least.I deeply regret  to have to send this but our leaders have been silent to long.Why would our leaders not speak fervent or at all about the genocide in America of  the Black race.Abortion is a Democratic  agenda .More Black babies are being murdered than Born. Thank goodness Am hearing black Sunday preachers  preaching about  planned parent hoods founder Margret Sanger a eugenicist who wanted to eliminate the black race in America.And to top it off we are getting slammed on line about our Hospitals performing elective abortions since the Seventies.I can defend my beliefs and hold my own pretty well against the college boy preachers I even went to Collegdale     to be a Minster did not stay something was not right about that at least in my case.This subject came up in our Sabbath school last Sabbath there was a lot of input it got to the point where the Pastor said we were getting dangerously close to politics I looked at him and said see how 501c3 is controlling what you say  and he looked down and said nothing further .You need to listen to the members in North American and stop sending them pretty little veggie burger Like Paulsons response .What Adventist want is for  our preachers to stand up and uphold all the Commandments including the 6th If you can not speak out about the 4000 unborn murders everyday do you think once persecution really   starts you would die for the sabbath .I have my doubts thank you for your time Nick Scavo The Military Store  St Pauls NC 28384  By the way I talk to anyone who comes in my store and wants to discuss this I put my money where my mouth is.
