The following is a email from Asia Harvest, a Christian organization that focuses on evangelism in Asia, especially in trying to get Bibles to Chinese Christians:

=================================================

Dear Friends,

You probably know that we rarely send emails unless we have a very urgent prayer request we would like to share with you. This is such a time.

A dear personal friend of mine is in trouble for no reason except that he loves and obeys Jesus Christ. His name is Saeed Abedini. He was born in Iran, but is now a US citizen. His wife Naghmeh is also a US citizen and they live with their two children in the US state of Idaho.

Saeed, despite being just 32 years old, has been instrumental in bringing many Iranian Muslims to the Lord, and has established numerous house churches throughout Iran.

He asked me to write his biography, and I was working on it when Saeed made one last trip back to Iran to say goodbye to his family. He knew that when his book came out it would be impossible for him to travel back to the country of his birth.

I can assure you that his testimony is quite remarkable and will bring much glory to God, and I can testify that Saeed is a God-fearing brother who loves the Lord Jesus. Before he met the Lord, Saeed was so depressed he wanted to commit suicide, and for a time he was trained by Hezbollah to be a suicide bomber. After he experienced salvation through the Blood of Jesus Christ, Saeeds whole life was so dramatically transformed that he could not help but spread the Good News to as many people as possible.

In September last year Saeed was travelling on a bus near the Iranian border when Revolutionary Guards boarded the bus and dragged him off. He has been held for months while he waited for his case to come before the courts of Iran. He is currently captive in the notorious Evin Prison in Tehran. He has been mercilessly tortured, but has not denied His Lord and Savior.

Despite being an American citizen, the US State Department has done nothing to help as they have no relationship with Iran. From the human level, there is little hope for Saeed. Indications have been given that he may be sentenced to 18 years in prison, or possibly even given the death penalty.

That is why I am asking you to pray. What politicians and the strength of men are unable to achieve, God can do!

Today we received news that Saeeds case has been assigned to a notorious judge who is known as the hanging judge because of his history of sending people to the gallows. This man has such a fearsome reputation that few lawyers in Iran are willing to defend clients before him, because the judge often has the lawyer thrown into prison as well. He is due to hand down his sentence next week. The American Center for Law and Justice has released this harrowing statement, which includes a picture of Saeed and his family: http://aclj.org/iran/american-father-husband-abandoned-iran-handed-hanging-judge

Despite all these hardships, Saeed continues to stand strong for the Lord. In a recent letter to his family from prison he wrote, Prison is a test of faith. I was always worried that the storms of this life would break the ship of my faith, but when you stand steadfast, the storms are like a nice breeze. Nothing can break my faith. These walls have created more fervor for me to love others through sharing the Gospel, but more than that, the walls have deepened my love for my Savior. I feel the prayers of all who are praying for me.

Can you please pray that our Living God will perform a miracle for Saeed and his family?

·         Whatever the outcome, please pray that the Name of Jesus will be glorified and many thousands in Iran will hear the Gospel because of Saeeds imprisonment.

·         Please ask God to soften the heart of Judge Pir-Abassi, and that the Lords will may completely overshadow all the proceedings. Pray Saeed will receive grace and favour from the Lord.

·         Ask God to bring this situation to the attention of many intercessors around the world who will pray for Saeed and his family.

·         Please pray Saeed will continue to stand firm and be a great witness to the guards and other prisoners he comes into contact with.

·         Pray the Gospel will continue to spread to the 70 million captive Iranians. Many are open to knowing and following Jesus Christ, but have never heard the message of His salvation.

Please feel free to forward this message to other praying Christians. There are no security restrictions on it and there is nothing in the content which the Iranian government doesnt already know. You may also post this message in its entirety on social media or websites, if you feel it will help mobilize more Christians to pray.

For our King,

Paul Hattaway

Links are not working.

May I copy the url to this page and send to four SDA Churches I have been or are a member at,  and a Romanian SDA Pastor friend and ask him to share with his whole church and get him to share with his friend Pavel Goya's Church ?

I will start praying for God to strengthen him to ........

agressively witness,

endure and grow more and more Paul and Silas faith........

be prepared to live or die there as God wills......

and God to send champions or literal angels to smuggle him out if that is His will....................

and that God send him companions in suffering to strengthen him, that he converts too many guards and officals for the prison to keep him, and that he get local language materials grapevining throughout the whole prison.

This is war, though they have an army of one visible person, his fidelity atracts thousands of invisible soldiers and shakes the prison system.

Thanks for the prayers.  Of course you are welcome to spread this news as far and wide as possible.

I have no idea if Saeed Abedini is Seventh-day Adventist or not.

Aready have asked for Church prayer for Saeed this last Sabbath .

When it becomes our turn, Jesus may be the only one left to pray for us, all others still living , not of us, may hate us, others of us, may not know any one else's situation, unless during those days, prophecy becomes a much more wide spread gift.

News found today on this case:

Pastor Saeed's wife, Naghmeh, has not been to Iran since her husbands arrest, but she speaks to him and his family on the phone from her home in Boise. She recently told Fox News his family has reported he is missing from jail. The fact that his whereabouts are unknown to his family and attorney is cause for concern, Jordan Sekulow [of American Center for Law and Justice] told Fox News.

News received in a email this morning:

The last few weeks have been an emotional rollercoaster for those involved. One day Iran has said they will kill Saeed, the next day they say he will be released so he can go home to his family. On Monday Saeed boldly and courageously gave his testimony in court. He brought honor to the Name of Jesus.

This morning news has broken that Saeed has been sentenced to 8 years in the notorious Evin Prison. He was convicted on charges of starting house churches throughout Iran in the early 2000s. Friends, an 8 year prison sentence in that demonic prison is basically a death sentence. Many people who go into Evin Prison only last a few days or weeks before they perish. Last week Saeed, who is a handsome young man, was taken to the prison hospital. When he stepped into the elevator he saw an older bald man with a bushy beard and swollen, bulging eyes. He went to say hello to him before he realized he was looking into a mirror. It was the first time he had seen a reflection of himself for months.
-----------------------------------

Please keep Saeed and his family in your prayers, and especially that he will be a good witness for Jesus there and souls will be won to Christ thru his firm example.

News found today on this case:

Naghmeh, the wife of U.S. Pastor Saeed Abedini, who is serving eight years in a deadly prison in Iran for his faith, broke down as she testified on Capitol Hill, saying she has no heart to tell their kids that daddy might never survive if the government fails to protect him.

"Saeed is a husband and amazing father," Naghmeh told a standing-room only crowd at the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission of the U.S. Congress on Friday. "The kids and I miss him terribly. Our kids hold onto the hope of seeing their daddy very soon," she said, struggling unsuccessfully to hold back her tears.

Pastor Abedini and Naghmeh have two kids, Rebekka Grace, 6, and Jacob Cyrus, 4. "A day does not go by that they do not ask for their daddy. A day does not go by that they do not long for him. Most nights they cry themselves to sleep, wanting daddy home."

She said her husband has been beaten and suffers internal bleeding. "The truth is we do not know if we will ever speak to him or see him again. Every day is a death sentence for him," she said. "Many mornings they (the kids) wake up and start running around the house and in the yard. I ask them what they are doing and they say very disappointed 'it must have been a dream. We saw daddy was home and he was going to twirl us around.' I hold back my tears as I tell them that it was a dream."

Naghmeh added she still does not have "the heart to tell them that if we don't do anything, that daddy might never survive the horrific Evin prison. I do not have the heart to tell them of the 8 year sentence. I do hope we can work together to bring Saeed home and I will never have to tell my kids of the dire situation their father is in."

The State Department was invited to the hearing, but no official showed up. "The State Department was AWOL today absent without leave," said Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the American Center for Law and Justice, which is representing Pastor Abedini's family in the U.S. "The State Department's no-show reflects a stunning lack of concern for an American wrongly imprisoned simply because of his Christian faith," said Sekulow, who also testified.

Naghmeh went on to say that her children could not understand why their father wasn't with them. "They kept saying, 'Does daddy not love us anymore?' ... And I had to tell them that he was in prison because he loved Jesus."

Saeed who grew up in Iran before converting to Christianity at the age of 20 traveled with his family back and forth between Iran and the U.S. several times in the past few years to meet his family and for Christian work. During one such trip in 2009, he was detained by Iranian officials and interrogated for his conversion. While he was released with a warning against engaging in any more underground church activities, he was once again arrested last July while working on a non-sectarian orphanage project.

In January, Iran's notorious Islamic Revolutionary Court convicted Pastor Abedini of "threatening the national security" by leading house churches years ago, and sentenced him to eight years in Tehran's deadly Evin Prison.

Despite her grief, Naghmeh said her husband holds to what he believes and "will not give in under any pressure from the Revolutionary Guards." Abedini, she said, is "standing up for religious freedom in a country that has no respect for human rights."

"Are we going to stand with him? Are we going to stand up as country and protect a citizen whose human right of religious freedom is so clearly violated?" she asked. "Americans are not all Christians; but every American regardless of their beliefs wants to be reassured and know that our government will take decisive action to protect us if someone uses force to try to make us abandon or change our beliefs."

Naghmeh said she was disappointed with the government. "I'm disappointed that our president and our State Department has not fully engaged in this case," she said. "I'm disappointed that this great country is not doing more to free my husband a U.S. citizen. Yes, we are both proud to be American citizens. And I expect more from our government."

She recalled when Saeed became a U.S. citizen in 2010, he said "it was one of the best days of his life and he was so proud to be an American. He was so excited, he announced it on his social media and soon after, a flag was sent to him from Senator Carl Levin's office for the occasion of Saeed becoming a citizen. He was so proud!"

Many nations, including the European Union, have highlighted Pastor Abedini's case and called for his release before the U.N. "Our government did not," said Sekulow. "With an opportunity to condemn Iran and demand his freedom on a global stage, the U.S. government never mentioned him at all ignored the plight of a U.S. citizen imprisoned in Iran," he said, of the UN Human Rights Council's meetings this month in Geneva that directly addressed the human rights crisis in Iran.

"I am hoping that we can bring Saeed home soon," said Naghmeh, also a U.S. citizen.

Update on this case:

Pastor Saeed Abedini, an American citizen imprisoned for his Christian faith in Iran, was given an ultimatum to either deny Christ or remain incarcerated.  Saeed Abedini, an American Pastor in Iran, has been sentenced to eight years in prison in Iran for planting house churches. He says that the officials have given him the choice to deny Christ or remain in prison. The ACLJ has obtained a recent letter from Saeed, which describes the stress and pressure he is facing in prison: Deny your faith in Jesus Christ and return to Islam or else you will not be released from prison. We will make sure you are kept here even after your 8 year sentence is finished. These are the threats that prison officials throw at me. My response is Romans 8:35-39.

Update on Saeed's status in Iranian prison:

After more than 200 days in Irans Evin Prison, known for its brutal treatment of prisoners, letters from American-Iranian Pastor Saeed Abedini reveal that he is clinging to joy in the midst of intense persecution. Since his imprisonment in Evin Prison, where he is serving an eight-year sentence for being a threat to national security, Pastor Abedini continues to be denied medical treatment for internal bleeding due to injuries sustained through repeated beatings and physical torture.

In a malicious act of psychological torture, prison officials recently took him to hospital, only to bring him back without any medical treatment. They taunted him by telling him it would be two months before he saw a doctor. After returning from the hospital, prison officials severely beat him on the same day, continuing their effort to torture the faith out of him.

The Guardian Express newspaper in the UK reported on June 1, 2013 "American Iranian Pastor Case taken to UN Council in Geneva".  While the article is poorly written, is does give the information that Saeed's case is being taken up with the United Nations.

The ACLJ has a good article showing that Pastor Saeed has written a letter to the new Iranian President.

---------------------

American Pastor Saeed Abedini, serving an eight-year prison sentence in Iran because of his Christian faith, is directly appealing to Irans newly elected President Hassan Rouhani for justice and freedom. In a letter written to the Iranian president, Pastor Saeed, a U.S. citizen, called on the new president to follow through on his pledge of moderation and pleads for compassion and justice so he can return to his wife and children in the United States.

Pastor Saeeds letter comes as the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), which represents Pastor Saeeds wife and children in the U.S. and has been working to secure his freedom, launches a global letter-writing campaign urging President Rouhani to release Pastor Saeed.

The ACLJ has launched a new website at BeHeardProject.com a voice for the persecuted Church. To support Pastor Saeed, you can write a letter directly to the Iranian president and add your name to a petition containing the names of more than 620,000 people who have signed on already demanding the release of Pastor Saeed.

This is a critical time for this U.S. citizen who has been illegally imprisoned in one of Irans most dangerous prisons for nearly one year now, said Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the ACLJ. With Pastor Saeeds direct appeal to the Iranian president and our global letter-writing campaign to urge him to release Pastor Saeed, the new Iranian president can send an important message to the world that his promise of moderation can be fulfilled by releasing Pastor Saeed from prison. This American pastor has done nothing wrong imprisoned only because of his Christian faith. We call on Iran to release him so he can return to his family.

The latest developments come as Pastor Saeeds illegal captivity approaches one year with September 26th marking the anniversary of being taken into custody by Iranian authorities.

In his letter to President Rouhani, Pastor Saeed provides details about his work in Iran and the fact he was completing work on an orphanage when he was taken into custody. He writes about the abuse and internal bleeding he has suffered as a result of his year-long imprisonment. He also calls on the president to follow through on his promise of moderation and urges the Iranian leader to exhibit compassion and justice so he can return to his family in the United States.

My wife and children as well as over a billion Christians in the world seek God's justice and then your consideration of this matter, Pastor Saeed wrote.

Please take immediate action in this regard and do not let me and a lot of people in my ward become the victims of the fire that extremists have made, those who have turned Iran into a vortex of crisis. Considering the fact that I came to Iran to serve the orphans, please do not let them make my children orphans and my wife without a guardian.

At BeHeardProject.com, you can draft your own letter to President Rouhani or add your name to a letter than has been written. The goal: send the president 52,000 letters - 1,000 letters for each week that Pastor Saeed has been imprisoned - asking him to save this 33-year-old U.S. citizen.

Over the last weekend my family celebrated my daughter's seventh birthday, the second birthday in a row my precious Rebekkah celebrated without her father, said Naghmeh Abedini, Pastor Saeeds wife. When asked what she wanted for her birthday, she said she just wanted her daddy home. The reality of his absence is inescapable.

In a week from now, the president of Iran will be on U.S. soil, Naghmeh added. And I have to wonder whether my government will use this opportunity to appeal directly to President Rouhani for the release of my husband. I hope President Obama will break his deafening silence and speak out for my husband. But I also ask that everyone join me in appealing directly to President Rouhani by writing letters urging him to release Saeed.

In his letter, posted here, Pastor Saeed also told the Iranian leader that none of his work in Iran was political or threatened national security in any way.

Mr. President, I, like you, believe in moderation and, as a spiritual man, have no interest in politics and did not seek actions against national security, propaganda or political groups. My Purpose in all my attempts in my hometown was to reduce pain and suffering as well as compassion for the poor, orphans and unaccompanied children in accordance with religious rules and the sole intention of pleasing my Savior, Jesus Christ.

Pastor Saeed also conveyed the physical abuse he suffered during the four months he spent in solitary confinement:

During this extremely difficult, exhausting and tormenting period that cannot be described here, I was in agony from the severity of stomach bleeding and other internal diseases as a result of terrible condition in the detention . . .

Just last month, an Iranian court rejected Pastor Saeeds appeal, leaving his eight year prison sentence in place.

Pastor Saeed was convicted of threatening the security of Iran because he chose to peacefully gather with other Christian believers. On January 27, 2013, Judge Pir Abassi, a judge presently sanctioned by the European Union for his human rights abuses, found Pastor Saeed's Christian faith and activities tantamount to national security threat, and sentenced him.

While U.S. Secretary of State Kerry has issued two brief statements urging Iran to release Pastor Saeed, the ACLJ and Pastor Saeeds family continue to call on President Obama to elevate this critical case to speak out directly on Pastor Saeeds behalf.

On September 26th, the one year anniversary of Pastor Saeeds captivity, there will be prayer vigils in this country and around the world a united effort to call attention to Pastor Saeeds plight and a very important opportunity to advocate his release.

"Amidst a week that saw the highest level of engagement between the United States and Iran in decades, President Obama reportedly asked Iranian President Hassan Rouhani about the case of imprisoned pastor Saeed Abedini. September 26 marked one year that Saeed has been in an Iranian prison. Numerous government officials had spoken out about the case but this is the first public acknowledgment of the President addressing it. "

May 20, 2014 as reported by ACLJ:

After spending two months in an Iranian hospital, we learned today that Pastor Saeed Abedini was removed from the hospital and taken back to Rajai Shahr Prison.

The transfer came without any advance notice and family members in Iran confirmed that he was severely beaten at the hospital and then forcibly returned to prison.

The reason for the transfer is unclear and according to family members, one of the guards who was involved in the transfer mentioned the Iranian nuclear talks as a possible motive.

"This is an extremely disappointing development - one that breaks my heart," said Naghmeh Abedini, Pastor Saeed's wife. "Our family is deeply saddened and we continue to pray for Saeed - for his safety and his release. We are very grateful that so many people around the world continue to pray for Saeed."

When Pastor Saeed was transferred to the hospital in March, he was initially shackled by guards who lashed out violently against him. He was also denied medical treatment at that time and family members were prohibited from seeing him.

Since then and in the weeks that followed, Pastor Saeed's situation at the hospital improved. Family members were permitted to visit with him frequently and he was provided with nutritional meals.

Pastor Saeed, a U.S. citizen, turned 34 on May 7th and his return to prison comes as efforts continue in this country and abroad to secure his release. Nearly 260,000 people from around the world already have signed on to our petition for his freedom. If you haven't done so, please add your name today.

Naghmeh joined us today on Jay Sekulow Live! to give the latest on this disturbing turn of events for her husband. You can listen to that interview here:

Saeed's wife, Naghmeh Abedini, is interviewed, and gives her story in the following video.  It is amazing how God is using this incident to get the gospel in front of the United Nations and Human Rights orgainizations.  She makes an interesting comment that she expected to have problems when talking with the Iranian govt., but wasn't prepared for the slack response from the American govt.  May we pray that this family will continue to stand strong for Christ.

CNS News gives some information on the feeble actions of the U.S. govt leaders to secure Abedini's release.  Please note that Saeed Abedini is an American citizen.

http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/penny-starr/wife-us-pastor-jailed-iran-says-obamas-never-called-her

Naghmeh Abedini, the wife of American pastor Saeed Abedini who has been jailed for two years in Iran for his Christian faith, says she has yet to receive a phone call from either President Obama or Secretary of State John Kerry.

"I feel like he's been abandoned by my government," Naghmeh said at the Values Voters Summit gala on Saturday in Washington, D.C.

...

On Aug. 29, Kerry issued a statement that asked "respectfully" for the Iranian government to release Abedini and other jailed or missing Americans.

...

Making personal contact by phone with individuals is not unusual for the president.

Last August, for instance, the Chicago Tribune reported that Obama called members of the Jackie Robinson West Team after its loss to South Korea in the Little League World Series.

In 2012 after college student Sandra Fluke was challenged by radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh for her claims that all women need access to birth control, Obama called her "to make sure that I was OK," Fluke said afterwards.

Saw this update on the ACLJ website today:

After two months without any physical affection or contact with family, today, American Pastor Saeed Abedini was able to have a visitation by a family member.

It is through these visitations that Pastor Saeed expresses the pain and suffering he has unjustly faced behind bars these last three years. But it is also through these visitations that Pastor Saeed receives updates about and pictures of his two young children, Rebekka and Jacob, who have spent much of their childhood without their father.  Visitations bring comfort but also a realization of the time that has passed and the memories that can never be regained.

Below is the an update from Pastor Saeed's visit today with family in Iran as told by Pastor Saeed's wife, Naghmeh Abedini:

The visit was bittersweet. The loss of his dear Grandma in the last few weeks and not being able to say his last goodbyes at her funeral, the sense of loss of missing out on seeing his kids go to their first days of school, and especially missing out on Rebekka's 9th birthday, has taken its toll on Saeed.

It was too painful for him to see pictures of how much his baby girl had grown up since he last saw her, from the 5-year-old little girl to the 9-year-old young lady she has become. A different kind of maturity covered his baby girl's face. A maturity that spoke of painful, tear-stained nights. The picture his family took to show Saeed told him of a girl who was trying to be strong and brave for her daddy. Many tears were shed and stories shared. So many stories that Saeed struggled to remember his babies and our family, memories that the prison walls were slowly stealing from him. So many new memories were trying to form about what the kids liked to do now and how they had changed over the years. Saeed tried hard to hold on to something to take back to the prison once the visit was over; something Rebekka said; or something Jacob did.

Saeed was told of the prayer vigils that are happening on September 26th, which marks his third anniversary in prison. Told that he was not forgotten. His face lit up and he was encouraged to hear that so many are praying for him. He was encouraged to know that a date that brought so much pain had become a day when Christians united together to pray for him and the persecuted church.

I made sure that he was told that I had not given up the fight. That we had not given up the fight for his release. That despite government shortcomings, none of us were giving up. That we were getting on our knees and praying and fasting for him each day leading up to the prayer vigil. I knew that during the short prison visits he needed to know that he was not forgotten.

"Remember the prisoners as if chained with them - those who are mistreated - since you yourselves are in the body also." Hebrews 13:3 (NKJV)

Saeed spoke of a cellmate who died this week in the prison because of lack of medical treatment. Saeed and other prisoners worry about their own medical conditions that continue to go untreated. Saeed has held onto hope that he would be released before his medical condition became too critical.

He spoke of the day that he would be able to hold Rebekka and Jacob and our family in his arms again. As many prisoners struggled with fear of death and the unknowns, Saeed told how he has been able to speak to them of eternal life that he had found in Jesus Christ. The Lord has used such a tragic time to touch so many hearts.

Please pray for Saeed. The journey has become so difficult for him both physically and emotionally. The beatings and attacks have taken their toll on Saeed and he is in constant pain every day. Knowing his kids are growing up without him has made the journey that much more emotional for him. He always wanted to be the dad that poured into his kids every single day of them growing up. He was the more nurturing one of the two of us and cared about each and every milestone.

Saeed realizes that he has had to give up those things that were so dear to him for the sake of the Gospel and that is the one thing that brings him comfort. Saeed is holding onto hope that one day he will reunite with us again.

As Pastor Saeed endures, we at the ACLJ continue to fight to see that this divided family is reunited again. Over 260,000 letters to Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon are on their way to the United Nations requesting that the highest level of the UN engage on Pastor Saeed's behalf.  This week, Naghmeh Abedini pleads with members of Parliaments from around the world.

Join the global community in prayer for Pastor Saeed Abedini on September 26th - which marks the third year of imprisonment for this U.S. citizen. Host a prayer vigil or find one at a location near you here.

Pastor Saeed Abedini is free!

Praise God that he is out of jail, and has left Iran as of January 17, 2016.

Here is a succinct overview from the site that has been most diligent in trying to get him freed:

http://aclj.org/persecuted-church/breaking-american-pastor-saeed-abedini-and-other-americans-have-just-been-freed

And here is more information:

http://www.christianitytoday.com/gleanings/2016/january/iran-frees-pastor-saeed-abedini-after-three-years-prison.html

http://edition.cnn.com/2016/01/16/politics/iran-prisoners-jason-rezaian-saeed-abedini-amir-hekmat/index.html

I particularly resonate with what Rubio said regarding the fact that this exchange gives other nations an incentive to kidnap American citizens, and then hold them for ransom in order to wring concessions from the U.S.

One other important thing, is that the Americans that Iran kept in prison were there trying to HELP Iran, while the 7 Iranians that were released by the U.S. were trying to buy equipment to HURT America (and/or its allies such as Israel).

Anyway, let's rejoice that these men are free, and pray that the seeds sown in prison there will spring up into a harvest of souls saved eternally for Christ in the country of Iran. smile

Wonderful news indeed! God knows what Saeed Abedini suffered in prison. He will not forget.

I have some thoughts on deliverance and the importance of prayer. It is a wonderful thing to be 'delivered' but it is even more important to 'overcome'.

Let's continue to pray for Saeed Abedini and his family, that they will be examples to the world of Christians who are overcomers (Revelation 21:7).

Let's also remember the power of prayer and how important it is as an encouragement to believers whether they are in a prison or not.
