At first we did not see Jesus on the cloud, but as it drew near the earth we could behold His lovely person.    In apportioning the inheritance of His people, it was God's purpose to teach them, and through them the people of after generations, correct principles concerning the ownership of the land. The land of Canaan was divided among the whole people, the Levites only, as ministers of the sanctuary, being excepted. Though one might for a season dispose of his possession, he could not barter away the inheritance of his children. When able to do so, he was at liberty at any time to redeem it; debts were remitted every seventh year, and in the fiftieth, or year of jubilee, all landed property reverted to the original owner. Thus every family was secured in its possession, and a safeguard was afforded against the extremes either of wealth or of poverty.  {Ed 43.2} 

     By the distribution of the land among the people, God provided for them, as for the dwellers in Eden, the occupation most favorable to development--the care of plants and animals. A further provision for education was the suspension of agricultural labor every seventh year, the land lying fallow, and its spontaneous products being left to the poor. Thus was given opportunity for more extended study, for social intercourse and worship, and for the exercise of benevolence, so often crowded out by life's cares and labors. {Ed 43.3} 

     Were the principles of God's laws regarding the distribution of property carried out in the world today, how different would be the condition of the people! An observance of these principles would prevent the terrible evils that in all ages have resulted from the oppression of the poor by the rich and the hatred of the rich by the poor. While it might hinder the amassing of great wealth, it would tend to prevent the ignorance and degradation of tens of thousands whose ill-paid servitude is required for the building up of these colossal fortunes. It would aid in bringing a peaceful solution of problems that now threaten to fill the world with anarchy and bloodshed.  {Ed 44.1}

  By the special direction of God, the land was divided by lot. After it had been thus divided, no one was to feel at liberty, either from a love of change or a desire to make money, to trade his estate; neither was he to sell his land unless compelled to do so on account of poverty. And then whenever he or any of his kindred might desire to redeem it, the one who had purchased it must not refuse to sell it. And if the poor man had no one to redeem it for him, and was unable to do so himself, in the year of jubilee it should revert to him, and he should have the privilege of returning to his home and again enjoying it. Thus the poor and unfortunate were ever to have an equal chance with their more fortunate neighbors.  {HS 165.1}

     More than this, the Israelites were instructed to sow and reap their fields for six successive years; but every seventh year they were commanded to let the land rest. Whatever grew of itself was to be gathered by the poor; and what they left, the beasts of the field were to eat. This was to impress the people with the fact that it was God's land which they were permitted to possess for a time; that he was the rightful owner, the original proprietor, and that he would have special consideration made for the poor and unfortunate. This provision was made to lessen suffering, to bring some ray of hope, to flash some gleam of sunshine, into the lives of the suffering and distressed. Is any such statute regarded in England? Far from it. The Lord set needy human beings before the beasts; but this order has been reversed there, and, compared with the poor, horses, dogs, and other dumb animals are treated as princes. In some localities the poor are forbidden to step out of the path to pick the wild flowers which grow in abundance in many of the open fields. Anciently a man when hungry was permitted to enter another man's field or vineyard and eat as much as he chose. Even Christ and his disciples plucked and ate of the corn through which they passed. But how changed the order of things now!  {HS 165.2}

     If the laws given by God had continued to be carried out, how different would be the present condition of the world, morally, spiritually, and temporally. Selfishness and self-importance would not be manifested as now; but each would cherish a kind regard for the happiness and welfare of others, and such wide-spread destitution and human wretchedness as is now seen in most parts of England and Ireland would not exist. Instead of the poorer classes being kept under the iron heel of oppression by the wealthy, instead of having other men's brains to think and plan for them in temporal as well as in spiritual things, they would have some chance for independence of thought and action.  {HS 165.3}

     The living saints, 144,000 in number, knew and understood the voice, while the wicked thought it was thunder and an earthquake.  {Mar 287.4} 

     The Israel of God stand listening, with their eyes fixed upward. Their countenances are lighted up with His glory, and shine as did the face of Moses when he came down from Sinai. The wicked cannot look upon them. And when the blessing is pronounced on those who have honored God by keeping His Sabbath holy, there is a mighty shout of victory.  {Mar 287.5} 

     Then commenced the jubilee, when the land should rest.  {Mar 287.6} 

     A glorious light shone upon them [the saints]. How beautiful they then looked! All marks of care and weariness were gone, and health and beauty were seen in every countenance. Their enemies, the heathen around them, fell like dead men; they could not endure the light that shone upon the delivered, holy ones. This light and glory remained upon them, until Jesus was seen in the clouds of heaven.  {Mar 287.7} 

     And I saw a flaming cloud come where Jesus stood. Then Jesus . . . took His place on the cloud which carried Him to the East, where it first appeared to the saints on earth--a small black cloud which was the sign of the Son of man. While the cloud was passing from the Holiest to the East, which took a number of days, the synagogue of Satan worshipped at the saints' feet.  {Mar 287.8}

The Lord would place a check upon the inordinate love of property and power. Great evils would result from the continued accumulation of wealth by one class, the poverty and degradation of another. Without some restraint, the power of the wealthy would become a monopoly, and the poor, though in every respect fully as worthy in God's sight, would be regarded and treated as inferior to their more prosperous brethren.  {2MCP 625.3} 

     The sense of this oppression would arouse the passions of the poorer class. There would be a feeling of despair and desperation which would tend to demoralize society and open the door to crimes of every description. The regulations that God established were designed to promote social equality. The provisions of the sabbatical year and the jubilee would, in a great measure, set right that which during the interval had gone wrong in the social and political economy of the nation.--PP 534 (1890).  {2MCP 625.4}

In God's plan for Israel every family had a home on the land, with sufficient ground for tilling. Thus were provided both the means and the incentive for a useful, industrious, and self-supporting life. And no devising of men has ever improved upon that plan. To the world's departure from it is owing, to a large degree, the poverty and wretchedness that exist today.  {MH 183.3}

The tribes were numbered by families, and to each family, according to its numbers, was apportioned an inheritance.  {MH 184.1} 

     And although one might for a time dispose of his possession, he could not permanently barter away the inheritance of his children. Debts were remitted every seventh year, and in the fiftieth, or year of jubilee, all landed property reverted to the original owner.  {MH 184.2} 

     "The land shall not be sold forever," was the Lord's direction; "for the land is Mine; for ye are strangers and sojourners with Me. And in all the land of your possession ye shall grant a redemption for the land. If thy brother be waxen poor, and hath sold away some of his possession, and if any of his kin come to redeem it, then shall he redeem that which his brother sold. And if the man . . . himself be able to redeem it; . . . he may return unto his possession. But if he be not able to restore it to him, then that which is sold shall remain in the hand of him that hath bought it until the year of jubilee." Leviticus 25:23-28.  {MH 184.3} 

     "Ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubilee unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family." Verse 10.  {MH 185.1} 

     Thus every family was secured in its possession, and a safeguard was afforded against the extremes of either wealth or want.  {MH 185.2}

Yes men wanted a king of themselves, but not many men are righteous enough to ever become our king.  Never should have man allowed any to us be their King but Jesus.  Then the servant of the king would be a man of His Choice in communiction with and the guidance from Him and Him only.  The most man should haven endeavored to be would be the one chosen of Jesus Christ to lead His people.

But you know "ugly", sin and rebellion, has to come to it's full fruitition that all saints will see and heavenly host, that in them no rebellion to God will ever be, set in the heart and soul and embeded there to stay That God is Love, Righteous true and Just and no fault can be found in Him.  Of men only those with that heartset can be allowed to be in His Kingdom as this thing is not to rise up again.

I believe that "UGLY" has almost now reached it's ending summit.  He, Yahweh will end it in Righteousness!  We have all the signs before us.

The Jubilee first came onto my radar in the late 80s.  A group of SDAs were loudly advocating the return of Christ in 1993 or so based on their calculations of the jubilee cycles.  I even know of one sincere lady in India who sold her stuff and purchased property out in the country and invited over 50 people to come and wait for the Lord to return then.  She subsequently went into other errors.

I definitely believe that there is a great system of truth to be discovered in the Jubilee cycles.  God is very exact in what he does.

In fact, God is so exact, that the Jubilee comes on the exact same day every 49 years - the 10th day of the 7th month.  This is one fact we can use to know that Stephen's stoning could not have been on a Jubilee as they would not be out stoning people on that important holy day.  Using the book of Enoch as anything more than an interesting/odd read is not wise either, as it is rightly rejected from being regarded as inspired.  The book of Enoch even has fallen angels impregnating humans!!

The 2300 day prophecy in the Bible is never shown in the Bible to be a day-for-year prophecy.  There is a much simpler, biblically-based explanation - again, based on the 10th day of the 7th month.

The saints will be delivered exactly on a Jubilee day in the future, just as the 1858 edition of the Great Controversy says.  So shouldn't we be studying more about this 10th day of the 7th month, and what it means for us now?
