I have considered deeply twice in my life whether or not i should remove my name from the Seventh-day Adventist church books.  There are many things very wrong with the church.  My mother did have her named removed in the 1970s when the church officially gave a gold medal to the then pope. 

I disagreed with her action then, and still believe it was not correct.  But she did have some arrows of truth when she said "How can you still call yourself a member when you don't pay tithe to the General Conference, and when you often don't attend church at all because of the apostasy in your local church?

Looking back at the example of the chosen people of God - Israel - in the Bible helps understand our current situation a lot.  Look how far they wandered away from God - setting up idols everywhere, defiling the sanctuary, sacrificing their children to idols, and even outright killing of the prophets!  And yet, until they put Jesus on the cross, they were his chosen nation.

While our SDA church hasn't gone to these physical lengths of apostasy, we have the example of the Israelite nation before us, and with the blazing light of the gospel and of the 3 Angels' Messages, our responsibility is much greater for the evils existing within the camp today.

But there is one thing that by itself is strong enough to keep me in God's denominated church - no one can in the power of the Holy Spirit point to any action that would show to all that we must separate from the SDA church now.  For my mother, it was the gold medal to the pope.  When i mention this to some disaffected people who have left the church, many of them do not even know of this event.  Some point to the trademark lawsuits in the 1990s.  Some point to the general backsliding.  One man even promotes the idea that it happened in 1901-1903 time frame when the church officially adopted a new form of government.  When i showed that even Ellen White would be damned then, because she did not leave the church, he quit communicating with me.

In reading the 1858 Great Controversy book it is clear that Satan is not so worried about individuals in the church, it is the BODY that he is so angry against.  That's because it is the BODY that will support the individuals.  Every where i travel it is the SDA church that i look for.  There is where you will find most of God's true people.  You can usually find 1-3 people in every church, like the salt of the earth, who are really trying to follow the Lord.

So i would recommend to keep in the SDA church, and "sigh and cry" for all the abominations done in it.  Read Ezekiel chapter 9.  Please notice the PLACE where you must be if you wish to receive the mark of the angel in the forehead.  That is very important.  If you leave the structure that we all know was originally set up by God, how can you still fulfill the injunction of Ezekiel chapter 9?
