As I listen to speakers and see obvious confusion among SDAs I'm convinced that there is going to be a serious split in the church before the Sunday Law even begins to take form. So many have not read this little book GC 1858 carefully. It would clear up many misunderstandings that have been the cause of much consternation by the use of the GC of 1911. More and more confusion abounds. In their heart of hearts they really believe it because they trust that the 1911 is accurate. IT is leading people astray. I find that if I get into open debate over the originals vs the tampered editions, people will discard EGW writings altogether. This is not what we want but this is what is happening.

Ah aww.... Newbie (hug and kiss to you from me)... you spoke right out of my mind's center. I can only repeat the thrust in your message content and not add anything more. I am so dissatisfied with all the puralisms and lack of direction in that which makes a real SDA take a stand on this end-time book and how it evolved into something other than the original.
I'll let you and Danny add more to explaining the why of this dilemma.

It took me four times of reading this book before i even understood it was The Great Controversy!  How hard it is for old ideas to change......

I've travelled to many places, by God's leading, and have found almost always (maybe ALWAYS) that people who have a love for this original GC book also have a real love for the Bible, AND for actually living the truth, not just playing church.  And the opposite holds true as well.  Those who reject this book outright, are not reading their Bibles either.

And those who are really, really interested, are usually not very welcome in the churches.....

I really want to see our beloved Laodicean church wake up, heed the counsel of the True Witness, and DO what he says to do.  God will use simple means to finish the work, whether we join or not.  May we all prepare now in this golden time of peace and plenty before the Time of Trouble comes, and people rush to us wanting answers.

For the most part, if I can get people to read this little book they are impressed.  I have however met a rare few that will give their opinion before even reading and then tell everyone it is a condensed book.  I adamantly explain that it is the original and not condensed.  But, sometimes the wrong seed is planted.cry
I'm glad that this has not happened but just a few places.  Every time I read it, I find something new that I missed the time before.smile

Its been a long time since I have been to your site. I am seeking some of the 1858 GC books. I got one of the first copies. Are there still some in TN that I could purchase?
I too am looking for Laodicea to wake up.

Hello David!
I sent a email to you last week about my brother in TN sending you a copy of the stitched 1858gc book we printed in 2002.  He still has around 7,000 i think, and would be happy to send you some for the 150th anniversary event.

Sure hope we don't have to wait another 150 for Jesus to return...
