The Lord has promised that where two or three are met together in His name, there will He be in the midst.  Those who meet together for prayer will receive an unction from the Holy One.  There is great need of secret prayer, but there is also need that several Christians meet together and unite with earnestness their petitions to God.  {HP 91.2} 

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.  1 Peter 5:6, 7.  {UL 335.1} 

Your mind may often be clouded because of pain.  Then do not try to think, but just rest, and show that you have committed your soul to God as unto a faithful Creator.  It is your privilege to show in your weakness and suffering that you do not doubt the love of God toward you, that you know that He is faithful who has promised, and that you trust soul and body in His hands, that He will keep that which is committed to His trust.  {UL 335.2} 

The promise is that if we follow on to know the Lord, we shall know that "his going forth is prepared as the morning."  It is essential that we have daily the converting grace of God in the heart, that all our words and deeds may give evidence that we are in submission to the mind and will of God.  In doing with meekness and humility our appointed service, we are to reveal the converting power of the Holy Spirit in our lives.  Then we become the Lord's agencies to do His work.  {RC 130.3} 

But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.  Matthew 10:19.  {Mar 255.1}

The servants of Christ are to prepare no set speech to present when brought to trial for their faith.  Their preparation is to be made day by day, in treasuring up in their hearts the precious truths of God's Word, in feeding upon the teaching of Christ, and through prayer strengthening their faith; then, when brought into trial, the Holy Spirit will bring to their remembrance the very truths that will reach the hearts of those who shall come to hear.  God will flash the knowledge obtained by diligent searching of the Scriptures, into their memory at the very time when it is needed.  {Mar 255.2} 

What a salvation is revealed in the covenant by which God promised to be our Father, His only-begotten Son our Redeemer, and the Holy Spirit our Comforter, Counselor, and Sanctifier!  Upon no lower ground than this is it safe for us to place our feet.  {HP 137.5} 

God intends that, even in this life, truth shall be ever unfolding to His people.  There is only one way in which this knowledge can be obtained.  We can attain to an understanding of God's word only through the illumination of that Spirit by which the Word was given.  "The things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God;" "for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God."  [1 Corinthians 2:11, 10.]  And the Saviour's promise to His followers was, "When He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth ... For He shall receive of Mine, and shall show it unto you."  [John 16:13, 14.] ... {GW 297.1}

The wise man says that wisdom's "ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace."  Many cherish the impression that devotion to God is detrimental to health and to cheerful happiness in the social relations to life.  But those who walk in the path of wisdom and holiness find that "godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come."  They are alive to the enjoyment of life's real pleasures, while they are not troubled with vain regrets over misspent hours, nor with gloom or horror of mind, as the worldling often is when not diverted by some exciting amusement.   {RC 160.2} 

Jesus, while He dwelt on earth, dignified life in all its details by keeping before men the glory of God, and by subordinating everything to the will of His Father.  If we follow His example, His assurance to us is that all things needful in this life "shall be added."  Poverty or wealth, sickness or health, simplicity or wisdom -- all are provided for in the promise of His grace.   {AG 21.5} 

It is one thing to read and teach the Bible, and another thing to have by practice its life-giving, sanctifying principles engrafted on the soul ... "By grace are ye saved through faith" (Ephesians 2:8).  The mind should be educated to exercise faith rather than to cherish doubt, suspicion, and jealousy.  We are too prone to regard obstacles as impossibilities.  To have faith in the promises of God, to go forward by faith, pressing on without being governed by circumstances, is a lesson hard to learn.  Yet it is a positive necessity that every child of God should learn this lesson.  The grace of God through Christ is ever to be cherished, for it is given us as the only way of approaching God ... {HP 109.2} 

This promise is received by me at an interesting time. A dear lady I have cared for died today. I had the privilege of viewing the body. She has been in God's hands from beginning to end. Asleep until He comes.

To us today, as verily as to the first disciples, the promise of the Spirit belongs.  God will today endow men and women with power from above, as He endowed those who on the Day of Pentecost heard the word of salvation.  At this very hour His Spirit and His grace are for all who need them and will take Him at His word ... {AG 218.4} 

There are rich promises for us in the Word of God.  The plan of salvation is ample.  It is no narrow, limited provision that has been made for us.  We are not obliged to trust in the evidence that we had a year or a month ago, but we may have the assurance today that Jesus lives and is making intercession for us.  {HP 80.5} 

God does not leave His erring children who are weak in faith, and who make mistakes.  The Lord hearkens and hears their prayer and their testimony.  Those who look unto Jesus day by day and hour by hour, who watch unto prayer, are drawing nigh to Jesus.  Angels with wings outspread wait to bear their contrite prayers to God, and to register them in the books of heaven.  {HP 80.6} 

The one all-important matter is to serve the Lord with full purpose of heart, and seek to become the Lord's, heart and mind.  All who come to the Saviour for counsel will receive the very help they need, if they will come in humility, and with assurance cling to that promise, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you" (Matthew 7:7) ... {TDG 128.6}
