The word of God is the directory to Heaven.  If man will follow in the path marked out in the sacred word, he will reach the eternal city and the realms of glory.  The very God of truth presents his promises to encourage man to seek for eternal life, and an inheritance incorruptible and that fadeth not away.  Let the repenting sinner believe the word of God, and come to Jesus the Saviour of men, take his yoke upon him, bear his burden, and he shall find rest unto his soul.  {ST, April 20, 1888 par. 12}

No entreaties are so tender, no lessons so plain, no commands so powerful and so protecting, no promises so full, as those which point the sinner to the fountain that has been opened to wash away the guilt of the human soul.  {TDG 188.6}

God loves us so much to give us the promises!!

Psalm 34:18

The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Isaiah 1:18.  {HP 23.1}

That which should cause us the deepest joy is the fact that God forgives sin.  If we take Him at His word and forsake our sins, He is ready and willing to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  He will give us a pure heart and the abiding presence of His Spirit, for Jesus lives to intercede for us.  But ... spiritual things are spiritually discerned.  It is a living, active, abiding faith that discerns the will of God, that appropriates the promises, and profits by the truths of His word.  It is not because we are righteous, but because we are dependent, faulty, erring, and helpless ourselves, that we must rely upon Christ's righteousness, and not upon our own.  {HP 23.2}

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.  John 3:17.  {HP 16.1}

There are souls who are trembling in unbelief.  They ask, "How can I know that God is reconciled to me?  How can I be assured that He loves and pardons me?"  It is not for you, dear youth, to make yourselves just with God.  Jesus invites you to come to Him with all your burdens and perplexities ... Accept the promise and the provision that God has made ... Look away from self to Jesus; for in Christ the character of the Father is revealed.  {HP 16.2}

The blood of Christ in ever-abiding efficacy is our only hope, for through His merits alone we have pardon and peace.  {HP 16.3}

The character of God as revealed by Christ invites our faith and love, for we have a Father whose mercy and compassion fail not.  At every step of our journey heavenward He will be with us to guide in every perplexity, to give us help in every temptation.  {HP 16.4}

Christ's obedience to His Father's commandments is to be the measure of our obedience.  Those who follow Christ, if they would become complete in Him, must keep their will surrendered to the will of God.  Abundant provision has been made that those who will seek God with the whole heart may find Him a present help in every time of trouble.  Help has been laid on One that is mighty.  Christ has promised, I will be your helper.  {OHC 107.4}

Jesus is coming again.  Before parting with his disciples on the earth, he gave them the promise of his return.  "Let not your heart be troubled," he said; "in my Father's house are many mansions: ... I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."  {RH, November 22, 1906 par. 1}

We are not to fashion ourselves by the world's criterion or after the world's type.  God's people will hear conversations regarding the carrying out of wrong methods and plans.  Words of irreverence will be spoken.  Religion will be jested about.  Hear the voice of God, "My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not" (Proverbs 1:10).  Those who are controlled by the Spirit of God need to keep their perceptive faculties awake ... Have courage to do the right.  The Lord's promise is more valuable than gold and silver to all who are doers of His word.  Let all regard it as a great honor to be acknowledged by God as His children.  {TDG 284.5}

The Lord would have us ask that we may receive.  There are the heavenly messengers waiting for the sincere petition and they draw nigh to the hungry, thirsting soul.  Then let your whole souls go out after God.  Wait on the Lord.  The heavenly messengers will empty themselves into the golden tubes flowing into the golden bowls to enlighten others.  If you ask believing you will receive.  Never, never be destitute of the golden oil, for this will keep your lamps burning.  {TDG 22.2}

Believe ye receive the things ye ask for and ye shall have them.  Come with humble heart, but presenting the promise.  Then believe you do receive.  The name, the all-prevailing name of our Saviour, is our assurance and our boldness.  God presents Himself to us as a hearer of prayer.  Keep on right ground with God, so that you may have the witness of the Spirit that you are one of His elect and faithful, trusting ones.  {TDG 22.3}

Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases.  Psalm 103:3.  {OHC 36.1}

Christ has given us His Word, that men and women may be thoroughly furnished with a remedy for all spiritual diseases.  The Word is a test of human character.  It points out the disease, and prescribes the remedy.  In the Word is a prescription for every spiritual ailment.  The plain commands of God will exert a healthful influence upon the mind, and upon the whole body.  If taken in faith and faithfully practiced, its remedies are infallible.   {OHC 36.2}

Before the humblest is opened the promises of the Word of God.  God declares, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally ..." James 1:5.  He will never be sent away empty.  And the man who lives by every word of God will improve in mental and moral capabilities.  He will have a clearer understanding than he manifested before he opened his heart to the entrance of the Word of life.  Connected by faith with the living Source of wisdom and knowledge, the mental powers will grow and expand.  While the powers of the intellect were under the sway of Satan, the whole man was deformed.  But when the power of the truth is brought into the heart, it influences the entire being.   {OHC 36.3}

Let the youth look upon the divine standard, and never be content with a low aim.  Never be found working on the side of the great adversary of souls, who is seeking to counteract the workings of the Spirit of God.  Walk not hesitatingly, but firmly in the strength and grace of Jesus Christ.  Unto him is committed all power in heaven and in earth.  Take refuge in Jesus Christ, and enter into a firm covenant with him in faith, to love and serve him.  Choose him as your Advocate; for the door of mercy is wide open for you.  The promise is that if we ask anything according to his will, our request is granted if we ask in faith.  Jesus says, "Whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he will give it you."  The soul who neglects to comply with the conditions of salvation, will be left without excuse; for the treasures of his grace are absolutely unlimited.  {YI, July 5, 1894 par. 7}

You may ask, as many others have done, How may I know that Jesus receives me and loves me?  Shall I know by my feelings?  No; by obedience to His Holy Word.  Appropriate to yourself the rich promises of God.  Believe His word that Jesus is abiding in your heart by faith.  Through faith and trust in God you may have His peace, and you can then say, "I know in whom I have believed.  I will listen to every whisper of His Holy Spirit."  {TMK 41.4}

We have been called to the knowledge of Christ, and that is to the knowledge of glory and virtue.  It is a knowledge of the perfection of the divine character, manifested to us in Jesus Christ, that opens up to us communion with God.  It is by the great and precious promises that we are to become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.  {TMK 159.3}

Let it be made plain that the way of God's commandments is the way of life.  God has established the laws of nature, but His laws are not arbitrary exactions.  Every "Thou shalt not," whether in physical or in moral law, implies a promise.  If we obey it, blessing will attend our steps.  God never forces us to do right, but He seeks to save us from the evil and lead us to the good.  {MH 114.2}

Forgetting the things that are behind, let us press forward in the heavenward way.  Let us neglect no opportunity that, if improved, will make us more useful in God's service.  Then like threads of gold, holiness will run through our lives, and the angels, beholding our consecration, will repeat the promise, "I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir" (Isaiah 13:12).  All heaven rejoices when weak, faulty human beings give themselves to Jesus, to live His life.  {AG 120.5}
