There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.  1 Corinthians 10:13.  {UL 325.1}

We must not think that by walking in the path of obedience, we shall escape trials, for the enemy will do all in his power to hinder us from gaining heaven.  But the Saviour has promised to help us.  Have you trials?  So had Jesus.  Are you tempted?  So was He -- in all points like as we are.  "He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.  He came unto his own, and his own received him not.  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God" (John 1:10-12) ... {UL 325.2}

The Word is full of precious promises.  I shall have strength of eyesight, I shall have strength of brain, I shall have clearness of conception and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, because I ask in the name of Jesus.  Precious Saviour!  He gave His life for me.  "O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!  how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!  For who hath known the mind of the Lord?  or who hath been his counsellor?  Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?  For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever.  Amen" (Romans 11:33-36).  {TDG 220.3}

It is your duty, poor, afflicted soul, to come to the great Healer.  He is as much afflicted by your afflictions today as when He was upon the earth.  He sympathized with all human woe.  "All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth," He says.  Then come to your Saviour who can heal all your sicknesses and all your diseases.  He conquered death.  He is the risen Saviour, the Lord of life.  Will you come just as you are, and pray in faith to be healed of all manner of diseases, of all maladies which afflict the soul and the body?  Center your faith so  deeply and securely in Jesus Christ that no circumstance of any kind will jostle your faith.  Let your life be hid with Christ in God.  {21MR 24.4}

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.  2 Peter 1:4.  {TDG 220.1}

I long for physical strength and health, for mental clearness, that I may render to God acceptable service.  "Ye have not chosen me," Christ has said, "but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you" (John 15:16).  {TDG 220.2}

How precious is the promise, "I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."  Oh, the love, the wondrous love of God!  After all our lukewarmness and sins he says, Return unto me, and I will return unto thee, and will heal all thy backslidings.  {RH, September 4, 1883 par. 8}

"To him that overcometh, will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne."  We can overcome. Yes; fully, entirely. Jesus died to make a way of escape for us, that we might overcome every fault, resist every temptation, and sit down at last with him in his throne.  {RH, September 4, 1883 par. 9}

Some time ago, we were favored with a view of the most glorious rainbow we ever beheld.  We have often visited galleries of art, and have admired the skill displayed by the artist in paintings representing God's great bow of promise.  But here we saw the varied tints--crimson, purple, blue, green, silver, and golden, all perfectly blended by the great Master Artist.  We were entranced as we looked upon this glorious picture in the heavens.  {OHC 314.2}

As we look upon this bow, the seal and sign of God's promise to man, that the tempest of His wrath should no more desolate our world by the waters of a flood, we contemplate that other than finite eyes are looking upon this glorious sight.  Angels rejoice as they gaze upon this precious token of God's love to man.  The world's Redeemer looks upon it; for it was through His instrumentality that this bow was made to appear in the heavens, as a token or covenant of promise to man.  God Himself looks upon the bow in the clouds, and remembers His everlasting covenant between Himself and man ... The bow represents Christ's love which encircles the earth, and reaches unto the highest heavens, connecting men with God, and linking earth with heaven.  {OHC 314.3}

If you take hold of the strength of the mighty Helper, and not reason with your adversary and never complain of God, His promises will be verified.  The experience that you gain today in trusting Him will help you in meeting the difficulties of tomorrow.  Each day you are to come, trusting as a little child drawing nearer to Jesus and heaven.  In meeting with unwavering trust in God the daily trials and difficulties, you will again and again test the promises of Heaven, and each time you will learn a lesson of faith.  Thus you will gain strength to resist temptation, and when the harder trials come, you will be able to endure.  {OHC 326.5}

Constant prayer will fit you for your duties.  By prayer you may lay hold of the strength of God, and be enabled to say with the apostle, "I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me."  {ST, August 20, 1902 par. 6}

In the arms of faith carry your children to the Saviour.  Plead for them the promises of God.  A mother's voice will never plead in vain.  Pride would teach you to ask for worldly honor, earthly greatness, for your loved ones; but O, ask for them a greater boon than these.  Reach out and grasp for them a prize the worth of which eternity alone will reveal.  {ST, August 20, 1902 par. 7}

The precious Saviour will send help just when we need it.  The way to heaven is consecrated by His footprints.  Every thorn that wounds our feet has wounded His.  Every cross that we are called to bear He has borne before us.  The Lord permits conflicts, to prepare the soul for peace.  The time of trouble is a fearful ordeal for God's people; but it is the time for every true believer to look up, and by faith he may see the bow of promise encircling him ... {RC 375.3}

The covenant of grace was first made with man in Eden, when after the fall, there was given a divine promise that the seed of the woman should bruise the serpent's head.  To all men this covenant offered pardon, and the assisting grace of God for future obedience through faith in Christ.  It also promised them eternal life on condition of fidelity to God's law.  Thus the patriarchs received the hope of salvation.  {AG 131.2}

I am instructed to point those who are in need of wisdom to the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world ... "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.  But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering.  For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.  For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.  A double minded man is unstable in all his ways."  "Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him" (James 1:5-8, 12).  {UL 290.3}

It is a sacred work in which we are engaged.  The apostle Paul exhorts his brethren, Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. [2 Corinthians 7:1.]  It is a duty that we owe to God to keep the spirit pure, as a temple for the Holy Ghost.  If the heart and mind are devoted to the service of God, obeying all his commandments, loving him with all the heart, might, mind, and strength, and our neighbor as ourselves, we shall be found loyal and true to the requirements of Heaven.  {CTBH 161.2}

We are the Lord's little children, and we are to be led and upheld by Him.  If we will learn lessons from the kindness and patience and tenderness of Jesus, we will be a blessing to all with whom we are associated.  The Lord would have us take comfort in His promises, and praise Him much more than we do.  "Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me" (Psalm 50:23).  Let us learn how to express our gratitude to God for His wonderful condescension and love for mankind.  {TDG 216.3}

It is right to love beauty and to desire it; but God desires us to love and seek first the highest beauty, that which is imperishable.  No outward adorning can compare in value or loveliness with that "meek and quiet spirit," the "fine linen, white and clean" (Revelation 19:14), which all the holy ones of earth will wear.  This apparel will make them beautiful and beloved here, and will hereafter be their badge of admission to the palace of the King.  His promise is, "They shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy." Revelation 3:4.  {OHC 273.5}

We should take time to study the Bible; for we must know what saith the Scripture.  The Bible is the garden of God, and as we see the lovely flowers of promise that have been placed there, we should gather them to our souls.  For "exceeding great and precious promises" are given unto us, that by these we might become "partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust."  {BEcho, February 1, 1892 par. 1}
