We should realize more clearly the value of the promises God has made to us, and appreciate more deeply the honor He has given us.  God can bestow no higher honor upon mortals than to adopt them into His family, giving them the privilege of calling Him Father.  There is no degradation in becoming children of God.  "My people shall know My name," the Lord declares; "therefore they shall know in that day that I am He that doth speak: behold, it is I."  The Lord God omnipotent reigneth.  "How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!  Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye, when the Lord shall bring again Zion."  {FE 481.2}

If you go to God with a humble, believing heart to seek for guidance in your perplexity, then it is your privilege to rest your case with Him.  Heaven and earth may pass before the promise would fail.  Then take God at His word.  You did believe His promises when you were only three years old.  Have the simplicity of a child now, and come to Jesus in clinging faith.  Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and your confidence will never be betrayed, never be turned against you.  Look at Jacob pleading with God on the plains of Penuel.  His prayer was heard and answered, and he obtained a mighty victory.  {TDG 184.5}

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

Revelation 3:20-21

He alone who proclaimed over the rent sepulcher of Joseph, "I am the resurrection and the life," who is able when the last trump shall sound, to raise His saints from the grave and clothe them with immortality, giving them everlasting victory over death and the grave, is able now to keep the souls of all committed to His trust against that day, and to deliver them in their perplexities.  He has invited them to come to Him, and He has promised to help them, whatever their extremity, and to give them peace and rest as they wear His yoke and learn of Him lessons of meekness and lowliness.  He leaves not His heritage to the judgment of any man.  {21MR 273.1}

Jude 24-25

We must cherish and cultivate the faith of which prophets and apostles have testified -- the faith that lays hold on the promises of God and waits for deliverance in His appointed time and way.  The sure word of prophecy will meet its final fulfillment in the glorious advent of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, as King of kings and Lord of lords.  The time of waiting may seem long, the soul may be oppressed by discouraging circumstances, many in whom confidence has been placed may fall by the way; but with the prophet who endeavored to encourage Judah in a time of unparalleled apostasy, let us confidently declare, "The Lord is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him."  {Mar 66.4} 

All over the field of revelation are scattered grains of gold -- the sayings of the wisdom of God.  If you are wise, you will gather up these precious grains of truth.  Make the promises of God your own. T hen when test and trial come, these promises will be to you glad springs of heavenly comfort.  {ML 28.3} 

For the disheartened there is a sure remedy -- faith, prayer, work.  Faith and activity will impart assurance and satisfaction that will increase day by day.  Are you tempted to give way to feelings of anxious foreboding or utter despondency?  In the darkest days, when appearances seem most forbidding, fear not.  Have faith in God.  He knows your need.  He has all power.  His infinite love and compassion never weary.  Fear not that He will fail of fulfilling His promise.  He is eternal truth.  Never will He change the covenant He has made with those who love Him.  And He will bestow upon His faithful servants the measure of efficiency that their need demands.  The apostle Paul has testified: "He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness ... Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong."  2 Corinthians 12:9, 10.  {PK 164.3}
