T. vol 3 p. 225 If while at home you prayed by yourselves twice or three times a day for grace to escape the corruptions that are in the world through lust, you need to pray as much more earnestly and constantly when at school, exposed to temptations and the contaminating influences which prevail in schools in this degenerate age, as your surroundings are more unfavorable to the formation of Christian character.

While engaged in our daily work, we should lift the soul to heaven in prayer.  These silent petitions rise like incense before the throne of grace; and the enemy is baffled.  The Christian whose heart is thus stayed upon God cannot be overcome.  No evil arts can destroy his peace.  All the promises of God's word, all the power of divine grace, all the resources of Jehovah, are pledged to secure his deliverance.  It was thus that Enoch walked with God.  And God was with him, a present help in every time of need.  {GW 254.2}

We are in a world that is in opposition to righteousness, holiness, a growth in grace, and to purity of character.  Everywhere we look we see deformity and sin.  We see corruption.  We see defilement on every hand.  And what is the work that we are to undertake here just previous to immortality?  It is to preserve our bodies holy, our spirits pure, that we may stand forth unstained amid the corruptions teeming around us in these last days.  And if this work is to be performed for us, we need to engage in it heartily, and engage in it at once.  We want to take hold of the work now.  We want to understand it just as it is.  Selfishness should not come in here to control us.  We want the Spirit of God to have perfect control of us.  It should influence us in all our actions.  And if we have a right hold on Heaven, a right hold of the power that is from above, we shall feel the sanctifying influence of the Spirit of God upon our hearts.  {ST, September 18, 1879 par. 7}

The Lord Himself has established a separating wall between the things of the world and the things which He has chosen out of the world and sanctified to Himself.. TMK 308.3

It is the grace that Christ implants in the soul that creates the enmity against Satan. Without this grace, man would continue the captive of Satan, a servant ever ready to do his bidding. The new principle in the soul creates conflict where hitherto had been peace. The power which Christ imparts, enables man to resist the tyrant and usurper. Whenever a man is seen to abhor sin instead of loving it, when he resists and conquers those passions that have held sway within, there is seen the operation of a principle wholly from above. The Holy Spirit must be constantly imparted to man, or he has no disposition to contend against the powers of darkness. 22  . TMK 16.4

Satan knows that those who ask God for pardon and grace will obtain it; therefore he presents their sins before them to discourage them.  Against those who are trying to obey God, he is constantly seeking occasion for complaint.  Even their best and most acceptable service he seeks to make appear corrupt.  By countless devices, the most subtle and the most cruel, he endeavors to secure their condemnation.  {PK 586.1}

In his own strength, man cannot meet the charges of the enemy.  In sin-stained garments, confessing his guilt, he stands before God.  But Jesus, our Advocate, presents an effectual plea in behalf of all who by repentance and faith have committed the keeping of their souls to Him.  He pleads their cause, and by the mighty arguments of Calvary, vanquishes their accuser.  His perfect obedience to God's law has given Him all power in heaven and in earth, and He claims from His Father mercy and reconciliation for guilty man.  To the accuser of His people He declares: "The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan.  These are the purchase of My blood, brands plucked from the burning."   And to those who rely on Him in faith, He gives the assurance, "Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment." Zechariah 3:4.  {PK 586.2}

All who have put on the robe of Christ's righteousness will stand before Him as chosen and faithful and true.  Satan has no power to pluck them out of the hand of the Saviour.  Not one soul who in penitence and faith has claimed His protection will Christ permit to pass under the enemy's power.  His word is pledged: "Let him take hold of My strength, that he may make peace with Me; and he shall make peace with Me." Isaiah 27:5.  The promise given to Joshua is given to all: "If thou wilt keep My charge, . . . I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by." Zechariah 3:7.  Angels of God will walk on either side of them, even in this world, and they will stand at last among the angels that surround the throne of God.  {PK 587.1}
