I send some of you the promises daily, to phones and to websites, and to emails.  But for those of you who do not receive them yet, JLMK and I will send them to you.

Do you realize how important these are?

2Pe 1:4  Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

I knew this but didn't fully understand what it was saying UNTIL now.  Partakers of DIVINE NATURE!  Isn't that what we need????  Pray the promises of God over your life and others.  Share with those that are down and out, to encourage and give them hope!!

Hi nb, I am interested in receiving the material you mention, but am not clear on how "JLMK" applies in this context.

I noticed identical postings on "arsenic in rice" a couple of months ago on this forum and on TRO, and thus I assume we're both members of the latter forum.

If I send you a PM there, with my email address, will this work?

Thanks!

"Partakers of the divine nature."  Is this possible?  Of ourselves we can do no good thing.  How, then, can we be partakers of the divine nature?  By coming to Christ just as we are, needy, helpless, dependent.  He died to make it possible for us to be partakers of the divine nature.  He took humanity upon Himself that He might reach humanity.  With the golden chain of His matchless love He has bound us to the throne of God.  We are to have power to overcome as He overcame.  {HP 59.2}

Temptations and sin

If you do not walk deliberately into temptation, God will sustain you when the temptation comes.

-48- T. vol 3.

we have to be so careful. Heard a man say the other day that we can go anywhere to minister to people and that the good angels will always be there and never leave us. This is presumption.

There are precious promises in the Scriptures to those who wait upon the Lord.  We all desire an immediate answer to our prayers, and we are tempted to become discouraged if our prayer is not immediately answered.  Now my experience has taught me that this is a great mistake.  The delay is for our special benefit.  Our faith has a chance to be tested to see whether it is true, sincere, or changeable like the waves of the sea.  We must bind ourselves upon the altar with the strong cords of faith and love, and let patience have her perfect work.  Faith strengthens through continual exercise.  {OHC 134.2}

I just cant emphasize this enough how important it is to pray the promises of God over your life and others.
keeping in mind that most are conditional...

We have every evidence that the humble, contrite prayer offered to God is regarded as precious in His sight.  Not one is lost.  The promise is: "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.  For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.  If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone?  or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?  or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?  If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?"  [Luke 11:9-13].  {20MR 198.2}

... The change we need is a change of heart, and can only be obtained by seeking God individually for His blessing, by pleading with Him for His power, by fervently praying that His grace may come upon us, and that our characters may be transformed.  This is the change we need today, and for the attainment of this experience we should exercise persevering energy and manifest heartfelt earnestness.  We should ask with true sincerity, "What shall I do to be saved?"  We should know just what steps we are taking heavenward.  {YRP 329.2}

We would think, from the shadow that many walk in, that they had no Saviour.  But I want to speak to those, and say "Christ is risen!  He is not in Joseph's new tomb, but He has arisen  and has ascended up on high to make intercession for us!"  We have a risen Saviour interceding for us, and we must walk in harmony with God.  He is seeking to "purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works."  If we seek with all our hearts to be obedient children, conforming our will to the will of God, then the work can go forward in us without interruption.  Let us not forget for one moment that we are living for the future immortal life, and let us put away from us everything like complaint and faultfinding.  Let our words, our conversation, reveal to the world that we have a hope that is big with immortality.  {1SAT 42.2}

If you have perplexities and troubles -- and these are the common lot of mankind -- do not tell them to others, and thus shadow their path.  Do not go for help to every source but the right one; but tell Jesus everything; take it to the Lord in prayer, and then believe that he accepts you and your burden.  Faith is the gift of God, but the power to exercise it is yours.  A single earnest expression of faith strengthens faith; but every expression of doubt confirms doubt, and helps to gather about your soul the dark shadows of unbelief.  Then do not open your soul to Satan's temptations by cherishing and expressing the doubts that he insinuates.  Talk faith and courage.  Press to the light; and bright beams from the Sun of Righteousness will dispel clouds and darkness, and sweet peace will pervade the soul.  {ST, March 5, 1885 par. 13}

The proud heart strives to earn salvation; but both our title to heaven and our fitness for it are found in the righteousness of Christ.  The Lord can do nothing toward the recovery of man until, convinced of his own weakness, and stripped of all self-sufficiency, he yields himself to the control of God.  Then he can receive the gift that God is waiting to bestow.  From the soul that feels his need, nothing is withheld.  He has unrestricted access to Him in whom all fullness dwells.  "For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones."  Isaiah 57:15.  {DA 300.1}

Such will be the experience of Gods people in their final struggle with the powers of evil. God will test their faith, their perseverance, their confidence in His power to deliver them. Satan will endeavor to terrify them with the thought that their cases are hopeless. . . . But remembering the greatness of Gods mercy, and their own sincere repentance, they will plead His promises made through Christ to helpless, repenting sinners. Their faith will not fail because their prayers are not immediately answered. They will lay hold of the strength of God, as Jacob laid hold of the Angel, and the language of their souls will be, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.. . . So in the time of trouble, if the people of God had unconfessed sins to appear before them while tortured with fear and anguish, they would be overwhelmed. . . . But while they have a deep sense of their unworthiness, they will have no concealed wrongs to reveal. Their sins will have been blotted out by the atoning blood of Christ, and they cannot bring them to remembrance.-Patriarchs and Prophets, pp. 201, 202.

The creative energy that called the worlds into existence is in the word of God.  This word imparts power; it begets life.  Every command is a promise; accepted by the will, received into the soul, it brings with it the life of the Infinite One.  It transforms the nature and re-creates the soul in the image of God.  {Ed 126.4}

Is Jesus true? Does He mean what He says? Answer decidedly, Yes, every word. Then if you have settled this, by faith claim every promise that He has made, and receive the blessing; for this acceptance by faith gives life to the soul. You may believe that Jesus is true to you, even though you feel yourself to be the weakest and most unworthy of His children.Testimonies to Ministers p. 517.

But forgiveness has a broader meaning than many suppose.  When God gives the promise that He "will abundantly pardon," He adds, as if the meaning of that promise exceeded all that we could comprehend:  "My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the Lord.  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:7-9.  God's forgiveness is not merely a judicial act by which He sets us free from condemnation.  It is not only forgiveness for sin, but reclaiming from sin.  It is the outflow of redeeming love that transforms the heart.  David had the true conception of forgiveness when he prayed, "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me."  Psalm 51:10.  And again he says, "As far as the east is from the west, so far hath He removed our transgressions from us."  Psalm 103:12.  {MB 114.1}

"Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."  Romans 10:17.  The Scriptures are the great agency in the transformation of character.  Christ prayed, "Sanctify them through Thy truth; Thy word is truth."  John 17:17.  If studied and obeyed, the word of God works in the heart, subduing every unholy attribute.  The Holy Spirit comes to convict of sin, and the faith that springs up in the heart works by love to Christ, conforming us in body, soul, and spirit to His own image.  Then God can use us to do His will.  The power given us works from within outwardly, leading us to communicate to others the truth that has been communicated to us.  {COL 100.1}

Do not feel that you are sufficient in your own strength. Only in the name of the mighty Conqueror can you gain the victory. In conversation with others dwell upon the mercy, goodness, and love of God instead of upon His strict judgment and justice. Cling fast to His promises. You can do nothing in your own strength, but in the strength of Jesus you can do all things. If you are in Christ, and Christ is in you, you will be transformed, renewed, and sanctified.t  T. By beholding we are to become changed; and as we meditate upon the perfections of the divine Model, we shall desire to become wholly transformed, and renewed in the image of His purity.  It is by faith in the Son of God that transformation takes place in the character, and the child of wrath becomes the child of God.  He passes from death unto life; he becomes spiritual and discerns spiritual things.  The wisdom of God enlightens his mind, and he beholds wondrous things out of His law.  As a man is converted by the truth, the work of transformation of character goes on.  He has an increased measure of understanding.  In becoming a man of obedience to God, he has the mind of Christ, and the will of God becomes his will.  {1SM 338.1}

In the work of character-building we need the help of the Holy Spirit.  Then the building will grow in symmetrical proportions.  "Ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building."  Keep looking to Jesus.  Never seek for praise or self-glorification.  Strive, by watchfulness and prayer, to build up a Christian character, perfect in all its parts.  Remember that you are building for eternity.  Be careful how you build.  Day by day we need to realize the necessity of being converted.  Do not stand on the line of demarcation, trying to balance between Christ and the world.  Keep in the path cast up for the ransomed of the Lord.  By beholding Jesus, you will become changed into his likeness.  Your views will be enlarged.  You will see the excellence of the truth as it is in Jesus.  Your conceptions will be clearer.  You will be imbued with the Spirit of God.  You will not seek praise from men; you will exalt Christ, saying, "He must increase, but I must decrease."  {YI, October 25, 1900 par. 6}
