You cannot change the past ?

I recently read an autobiography of a person that said he learned from video games a life lesson at the age of 5. You cannot go back.
I hear interviews and people say the same things. You cannot change the past.
Its interesting that Hollywood changes the rules and several films allow you to go back and change things. A few come to mind:  the best of times, groundhog day, its a wonderful life, scrooge and Im sure there are others.

If you believe , there is a better way that has been provided. We can change the past. We can confess our sins and be forgiven. We then are pardoned. Our sins are removed from us and will be blotted out when the times of refreshing comes. The world says theres nothing we can do about the past. But God says YES theres something you can do. You can confess and repent!!

Dont we have a wonderful God and His way is always better than what this world has to offer.

In like manner you are a sinner.  You cannot atone for your past sins; you cannot change your heart and make yourself holy.  But God promises to do all this for you through Christ.  You believe that promise.  You confess your sins and give yourself to God.  You will to serve Him.  Just as surely as you do this, God will fulfill His word to you.  If you believe the promise, -- believe that you are forgiven and cleansed, -- God supplies the fact; you are made whole, just as Christ gave the paralytic power to walk when the man believed that he was healed.  It is so if you believe it.  {SC 51.1}

It was possible for Adam, before the fall, to form a righteous character by obedience to God's law.  But he failed to do this, and because of his sin our natures are fallen and we cannot make ourselves righteous.  Since we are sinful, unholy, we cannot perfectly obey the holy law.  We have no righteousness of our own with which to meet the claims of the law of God.  But Christ has made a way of escape for us.  He lived on earth amid trials and temptations such as we have to meet.  He lived a sinless life.  He died for us, and now He offers to take our sins and give us His righteousness.  If you give yourself to Him, and accept Him as your Saviour, then, sinful as your life may have been, for His sake you are accounted righteous.  Christ's character stands in place of your character, and you are accepted before God just as if you had not sinned.  {SC 62.2}

Many are inquiring, "How am I to make the surrender of myself to God?"  You desire to give yourself to Him, but you are weak in moral power, in slavery to doubt, and controlled by the habits of your life of sin.  Your promises and resolutions are like ropes of sand.  You cannot control your thoughts, your impulses, your affections.  The knowledge of your broken promises and forfeited pledges weakens your confidence in your own sincerity, and causes you to feel that God cannot accept you; but you need not despair.  What you need to understand is the true force of the will.  This is the governing power in the nature of man, the power of decision, or of choice.  Everything depends on the right action of the will.  The power of choice God has given to men; it is theirs to exercise.  You cannot change your heart, you cannot of yourself give to God its affections; but you can choose to serve Him.  You can give Him your will; He will then work in you to will and to do according to His good pleasure.  Thus your whole nature will be brought under the control of the Spirit of Christ; your affections will be centered upon Him, your thoughts will be in harmony with Him.  {SC 47.1}

Our Heavenly Father paid an infinite price that we might come to him; and if our past life has been full of sin, we can now repent and come to God.  The promise is that all who repent and turn from their transgressions shall be forgiven.  None need be discouraged because their past life has been marked with objectionable characters.  Hear what the God of heaven says: "When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousness shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.  Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right; if the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die.  None of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned unto him."  "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord; though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."  I am so grateful today that we have a living Saviour.  There are many who go about as mournfully as though Christ were still in Joseph's tomb with a great stone rolled before the door.  Our hearts should be full of hope and joy, and we should be able to say with grateful tongues, Christ is risen, and is at the right hand of God to make intercession for us.  He has carried his blood into the sanctuary, and will cleanse us from every sin.  {ST, August 29, 1892 par. 4}

We can not earn salvation, but we are to seek for it with as much interest and perseverance as though we would abandon everything in the world for it. . . . Abandon the idea that temporal or spiritual advantages will win for you salvation. God calls for your willing obedience. He asks you to give up your sins.Christs Object Lessons, pp. 116, 117.

give up your sins and Jesus will take care of the rest of things

He will give power to overcome by His Grace

Justification by faith is to many a mystery.  A sinner is justified by God when he repents of his sins.  He sees Jesus upon the cross of Calvary.  Why all this suffering?  The law of Jehovah has been broken.  The law of God's government in heaven and earth has been transgressed, and the penalty of sin is pronounced to be death.  But "God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."  Oh, what love, what matchless love!  Christ, the Son of God, dying for guilty man!   {3SM 193.4}

The sinner views the spirituality of the law of God and its eternal obligations.  He sees the love of God in providing a substitute and surety for guilty man, and that substitute is One equal with God.  This display of grace in the gift of salvation to the world fills the sinner with amazement.  This love of God to man breaks every barrier down.  He comes to the cross, which has been placed midway between divinity and humanity, and repents of his sins of transgression, because Christ has been drawing him to Himself.  He does not expect the law to cleanse him from sin, for there is no pardoning quality in the law to save the transgressors of the law.  He looks to the atoning Sacrifice as his only hope, through repentance toward God -- because the laws of His government have been broken -- and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ as the One who can save and cleanse the sinner from every transgression.  {3SM 194.1}

Not sure if it was this thread, or something else, but the other day I saw an article where some mathematicians said that they devised the equations that showed that faster than light speed was possible.  It involved changing the so-called "space-time" equilibrium in front of the space ship, so it would travel basically in a timeless bubble.  It's called the Alcubierre drive after its author: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcubierre_drive  One huge problem with it, is that the energy required would be more than all the observed mass known in the universe!  Of course mathematicians have gotten around this by saying that with so-called dark matter or exotic matter, that it could be possible. (I'm very skeptical of unobserved "dark-matter" and "dark-energy", as they have been dreamed up by mathematicians).

I'm just writing this to show that yes, some humans are actually trying to devise ways to not just slow down time that humans experience, but also to actually try and travel backwards in time.

Then I thot about how smart Satan is, and knowing that he would love nothing more dearly than to either be reinstated in heaven, or to destroy Jesus, it is obvious that he does not have the ability to go back in time.  Of course God does, but seemingly He chooses not to change anything.

It's a strange thing to think about.
