Hello, everyone. I've been silent for a long time but still following this active board.
I would appreciate your advice regarding tithe and offerings.
My wages go into a shared account with my husband. I don't touch that account at all. I get a set amount of money each week in my own account to run the household.
Is it acceptable for me to pay tithe on my weekly allowance seeing as that is the only money I ever handle? Can I leave the rest for my husband to sort out? He has different ideas to me about when and how to pay tithe and give offerings.
I hope this makes sense. Does anyone else struggle with this?
Some of us here were wondering if you were still in the land of the living....
If you don't have access to the income you earn, it is hard to understand how you would be required to pay tithe on something you don't have access to!
For example: You have a vineyard that produces 100 barrels of grapes, but your husband takes 95 of them to support his own business, and only lets you have 5 of them. Your "personal" income would be just 5 barrels of grapes, thus you would only be required to return 1/2 barrel as tithe to God.
Having said that, it seems to me that a husband who does this to his wife is not heeding God's command to love his wife as He loves the church.
Speaking of tithing, I'm seeing more and more Messianics/Hebrew Roots people say that tithing is not for the New Testament Christian, which is very odd, to say the least. But I do admit, that our SDA Church is hypocritical in teaching the need to keep tithe, (a statute of the Lord), yet, at the same time, teaches people to NOT keep the Feasts of the Lord (which are also statutes of the Lord). Of course we do the same hypocritical thing with clean and unclean meats too.
God commanded tithing, and no matter if we live before or after the cross, the blessing is pronounced on those who return it to God, and the curse is on those who don't.
Praise God Shireen that you are still with us. When I didnt hear back from you I thought you left us.
This is what the Bible says: Malachi 3:10 KJV
[10] Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it .
Luke 21:1-3 KJV
[1] And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting a their gifts into the treasury. [2] And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. [3] And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:

Yes, living but struggling.
Thank you webmaster for your reply. You've shared interesting information.
I could access the main account if I wished. Without going into too much detail: It is a mutual decision for me to have only the household money to manage. My husband is the ''big picture" person and I'm happy for him to manage our finances in the main. I don't want to be questioning how and when he pays tithe on our pooled money. If I pay tithe in the context of my "small picture" money management, can I do that with a clear conscience? It seems your answer would indicate that yes I can.

I'm very sorry NB for cutting off communication like that. I've been really struggling with my wellbeing. Thank you for your understanding.
Thank you for the Bible verses that you have shared regarding this matter.
Saying that this is a "mutual decision", means that you have voluntarily given over control of your income to your husband.
That is fine if you want to do that, but you must pay your 10% as God requires before you do so, or else it would mean you are putting your husband before God.
