I just read an article saying that this week, Russia has made sweeping arrests of not only JW leaders, but of some members too. Along with that, they have seized lots of their property. The report I read said there are around 160,000 JW members in Russia, up 10-fold from when they were recognized again in the early 90s.
Based on what I can gather, there are less than 40,000 Seventh-day Adventists in Russia.
Of course there is the obvious "When are they coming for us?" question, but I want to ask: "What can we do to help those JWs in Russia (and everywhere) understand that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh? JWs started out with a man who wanted to be SDA, but fortunately, he was not allowed to bring his heresies in. We still need to be active, tho, in trying to help them find God. So what is a good way to lead them to Jesus?
[11] For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
Philippians 2:10 KJV
[10] That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
I showed these scriptures, and said that eventually you will have to bow to Jesus anyway, so why not start now before its too late!! One agreed and the other ran off.
That Philippians verse I use a lot with the "Yahoo" pushers. They think that only those who somehow pronounce the name of God correctly are in favor with God, so come up with all kinds of weird names, most starting with "Ya", but I did see one man push the name "IAUA".
When they see that everyone will have to bow the knee to "Jesus", they usually get very agitated, telling me that there wasn't even a "J" in the English language until around 1500 (they're right), and so using the name "Jesus" is of the Devil. Then I show that this verse was originally written in Greek "Iesous", and usually they slink away to spread their occult worship elsewhere.
But I digress. That is good to use for the Jehovah Witnesses too. You know, they do better at going 2 by 2 to people's homes to spread their disinformation than we SDAs are about spreading the truth.
