I would like to make a determined effort to memorize scripture as I have recently been reminded that this is my source of wisdom. Please advise me regarding which Bible translation to memorize and what method/s to use.

Thank you and God bless.
What has worked the best for me is to memorize kjv scripture put to music. I have maybe 6 cds all memorized... it is easy and almost fun. Some of the scripture songs even sing where the scripture is found. I walk listening to them and in the car on trips too. You don't even have to think about it... and voila as soon as they start singing, you can finish it.. It also helps to think more about what is being said especially when I'm walking and listening...
Many thanks for this helpful information. Please pray for me. I have made the commitment to memorize scripture plenty of times but have never followed through. I believe at this point in history it is critical. Please pray that I will get on with it and do what I have committed to do. Thank you.

If you live in the states, I can send you cds if you like.
Personally, I found that trying to memorize Bible texts in a foreign language works much better than learning in my native tongue. I guess it is because learning in a different language requires me to concentrate on what each words means.
I do agree with nb's remark about memorizing to music. I was just reading around the end of Numbers the other day, where God specifically told Moses to write a SONG, so that the Children of Israel wouldn't forget. Songs get handed down from generation to generation, so the important instructions can be preserved. Sadly, I wasted a lot of my young, easy-learning years by listening to goofy ditties by people who are now mostly dead and gone, and their so-called "music" with them.
Regarding what translation to use -- Of course you want something that is correct, because it doesn't matter how easy it is to remember a Bible text, if the translation is wrong, it's worse than not learning it at all! So for a generally correct version, I would say NKJV, KJV, or maybe NASB. Of course there are many texts even in bad translations like the NIV and GNT that are correct, and could be used. However, it has been my experience, that in memorizing one translation style, it is generally better to continue in that same translation.
