When social media and Quora become pulpits for Sharing Our Faith & Personal Evangelism........ what do you do and why are you there ? Short but involved question and here is my answer, but what would you answer ?
We are living in the midst of an "epidemic of crime," at which thoughtful, God-fearing men everywhere stand aghast. The corruption that prevails, it is beyond the power of the human pen to describe. Every day brings fresh revelations of political strife, bribery, and fraud. Every day brings its heart-sickening record of violence and lawlessness, of indifference to human suffering, of brutal, fiendish destruction of human life. Every day testifies to the increase of insanity, murder, and suicide. Who can doubt that satanic agencies are at work among men with increasing activity to distract and corrupt the mind, and defile and destroy the body? {MH 142.4}
And while the world is filled with these evils, the gospel is too often presented in so indifferent a manner as to make but little impression upon the consciences or the lives of men. Everywhere there are hearts crying out for something which they have not. They long for a power that will give them mastery over sin, a power that will deliver them from the bondage of evil, a power that will give health and life and peace. Many who once knew the power of God's word have dwelt where there is no recognition of God, and they long for the divine presence. {MH 143.1}
The world needs today what it needed nineteen hundred years ago--a revelation of Christ. A great work of reform is demanded, and it is only through the grace of Christ that the work of restoration, physical, mental, and spiritual, can be accomplished. {MH 143.2}
Christ's method alone will give true success in reaching the people. The Saviour mingled with men as one who desired their good. He showed His sympathy for them, ministered to their needs, and won their confidence. Then He bade them, "Follow Me." {MH 143.3}
There is need of coming close to the people by personal effort. If less time were given to sermonizing, and more time were spent in personal ministry, greater results would be seen. The poor are to be relieved, the sick cared for, the sorrowing and the bereaved comforted, the ignorant instructed, the inexperienced counseled. We are to weep with those that weep, and rejoice with those that rejoice. Accompanied by the power of persuasion, the power of prayer, the power of the love of God, this work will not, cannot, be without fruit. {MH 143.4}
We should ever remember that the object of the medical missionary work is to point sin-sick men and women to the Man of Calvary, who taketh away the sin of the world. By beholding Him, they will be changed into His likeness. We are to encourage the sick and suffering to look to Jesus and live. Let the workers keep Christ, the Great Physician, constantly before those to whom disease of body and soul has brought discouragement. Point them to the One who can heal both physical and spiritual disease. Tell them of the One who is touched with the feeling of their infirmities. Encourage them to place themselves in the care of Him who gave His life to make it possible for them to have life eternal. Talk of His love; tell of His power to save. {MH 144.1}
Could a Quora-like question answer forum exist in Japan ? if so ='s opportunities.
While I:ve never done anything with Quora or Reddit, I am active using Disqus and Youtube to interact with people to try and lead them to the truth. Disqus is used by many sites for commenting, such as the Adventist Review, Fulcrum7, and of course many secular news sites like Breitbart etc.
I:m specifically interested in spreading truth among fellow SDAs, but realize that the world is much bigger, and that we need to be getting the word out in as many avenues as possible.
It really struck me, in reading on About . com, how one person can word things in such a way as to make it look like they are an authority on a subject. That could have a very large impact on people.
Wikipedia is a very good place to spread the truth in a manner that looks official. I:ve been blessed to be one of the most active writers on *The Great Controversy* book on that site, and know that the information presented there is used often by people who are searching for information on that book. I:ve written a little about Ellen White and Adventist prophetic interpretations too on Wikipedia, but many others are writing too, so changes can get reversed quite often if you don:t have quotes to back up what you write.
I don:t know of any Japanese language forums like Quora, but comment in Japanese on Youtube sometimes. First of all, there are very few people interested in writing about spiritual things in Japan in the first place, and also, many people who do comment a lot are of the *Japan is number one* mentality, and are not interested in the truth of Jesus Christ at all. If you know of some opportunities to comment on spiritual things in Japanese, please let me know!
What about commenting on the Japanese understanding of reality and absolutes and hard data like astronomy ? Using it to open questions steered to become a platform for seeking answers, that only Seventh day Adventism can answer.
