The leader of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, visited the Vatican on January 26, 2016, and asked the pope to pray for him. Usually the pope asks his guests to pray for him, thus making them feel indebted to the "greater". But this was unusual.
What is very interesting to me, is that many students of Bible prophecy have tried to shoehorn the Muslims into some kind of great, end-time entity, yet inspired words are entirely silent on that subject. Many people have said that prophecy can't just ignore such a large group of people, so they "must" be in there somewhere. I usually respond with something like: "Muslims will most likely acquiesce readily to the pope, especially if there is some Marian apparition". Well, this isn't even an apparition, and already the leader of the most populous Middle-Eastern Muslim country is basically bowing to the pope.
"The "cordial" talks also stressed common spiritual values, the statement said."
