I have questions regarding the Sabbath that I would like comment on.
First of all why do we observe Saturday for the Sabbath day? Is it because it is the tradition of our Ancestors? Is it because EGW and our advent pioneers believed it to be the seventh day of the week because the Gregorian calendar says so? Is there any concrete reason to believe that the Seventh-day that God rested on is Saturday?
The Sabbath of the old testament and of the Jews and early Christians was a lunar event and had nothing to do with the Pagan/Roman days of the week. If the Jews did follow the plantary week of the pagans, then the seventh-day would have been Friday, not Saturday, because the change did not come till 321 AD when the emperor Constantine (not the Catholic church) ordered the weekly cycle changed so that Sunday would become the First day of the week, before then, Saturday was the first day of the week. What is wrong with this picture?
I read about the Sabbath in the beginning of Genesis. And, I also read about it in Isaiah 66 talking about the new earth and how things will be.
Once convinced that the Sabbath (7th day), was the true day of worship, many other things became apparent. Reading the Bible can be difficult at times to understand. But, once I started worshipping on the 7th day, things became clear.
Constantine did a lot of things as a Roman emperor. He also changed our time clocks. That's why we begin the Sabbath on Friday sunset like it was in the beginning.
It is difficult to change what one has done differently for a life time. But, it is possible to change and then it becomes a blessing.
Actually the lunar cycle is a 14 day cycle and not a 7 day cycle. There is nothing in the universe by its course that designates Saturday as the 7 th day of the week. We go by faith in humanities reconing of time to establish the weekly cycle. A cycle God established at creation. Constatine was a roman empireror but he also converted, at least half way to christiandom, which at that time was the Holy Roman Church. Hopes this helps and remember live by faith, in the Word and in Christ.
Please do some research into what the various languages call the various days of the week. Us Englishans have been cursed with the Norwegian gods, but many languages use a variant of "Sabbath" for the seventh day which we call "Saturday".
May be I would shade a light on this one you my brethren I am an african and I have been living and studying in greece for nearly 6yrs in greek so I speak good greek. The following is how they count the days of the week
1. Sunday kiryaki (I am not sure from which word but presumably something early!!
2. Monday deftera from the word 2
3. Tuesday triti from the word 3
4. Wednesday tetarti from the word 4
5. Thursday pemti from the word 5
6. Friday parskevi from the word - Preparation
Akoko, That is VERY interesting!!! Thank you very much for your input. Let me ask you, are there many SDAs there near you in Greece? Would it be worthwhile to try and get the original Great Controversy into Greek, as it is being translated now, by God's grace, into 14 languages?
Yes I was studying in Greek for nearly six years, but now I am living in Switzerland. Greek has been my favourite language. Yes it would be wonderful to provide to our brethren the truth. Yes the Adventist in Greece is growing. And the English group we started there has blossomed out to a separate big church! I am grateful how God works and truly he is coming soon! The Truth is being stumbled upon in many of our churches and my heart is saddened especially when I see here in German Switzerland that even Ellen white is not considered anymore a prophet infect in northern German, you speak of Ellen white and you meet a complete big organised opposition from the church! About translating the original Great C. into Greek that would be a wonderful work!

Its coming whether they like it or not its coming read Israel of that time every word God spoke through the prophets happened. And each and every thing that God spoke thru Ellen white will happen and is already happening whether they change her words or delete some words it will happen. We are at time of shaking the groundwork is being laid. In Africa when we see a dark cloud coming we know the rain is about to fall, its coming, and I tell you the tropical rain can be very heavy so we run around the compound gathering property such as goats and cows to safety my brothers and sisters the rain is coming we can see the dark cloud over our head lets work with Jesus as we call all people we know, friends relatives and strangers alike to safety! Christ is gathering His property, His people and He wants us to be apart it! Time is no more! Very soon the rain begins to fall!
Akoko-san, I'm planning to come to Europe for some campmeeting in July-August timeframe. If possible i would like to meet you, and discuss ways to get the original 1858 GC book into Greek. It was translated into German, and printed 5,000 copies this January by God's grace.
I do know that Europe has basically turned her back on Jesus Christ, and the SDAs also are mostly deader than dead. It is to be expected when compromises are made, and many of our own leaders get their training from Babylonian schools. But i'm sure God has a faithful few there too, and we MUST help get them the truth so that they will be able to stand in the soon coming Time of Trouble.
