I've made a new video debunking those who say that to give glory to God, we must not call him "God", but by his supposedly Hebrew name only.

This doesn't seem to be a big problem in SDA circles fortunately, but i've noticed a few getting into this error which is closer to witch incantations, than to worshipping the one true God.

Let's all use the name for God in our native language, and keep our minds focused on uplifting things.

God's name - interesting topic - I agree it is an object of superstitious nonsense on the part of some, and earnest study of deeper lessons about what God's Name involves on the part of others.    God has not left any record of requiring the word Yahweh being required.  God's preferred name may be His character written in the heart of a loyal obedient surrendered believer.

Pr - Prayer (2002)   Chapter 20 Praying In The Name of Jesus

WHAT IT MEANS TO PRAY IN JESUS NAME.To pray in Christs name means much. It means that we are to accept His character, manifest His spirit, and work His works. The Saviours promise is given on condition. If ye love Me, He says, keep My commandments. He saves men, not in sin, but from sin; and those who love Him will show their love by obedience.(The Desire of Ages, 668.) {Pr 219.1}

Jesus said, Ye shall ask in My name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: for the Father Himself loveth you.I have chosen you: . . . that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in My name, He may give it you. John 16:26, 27; 15:16. But to pray in the name of Jesus is something more than a mere mention of that name at the beginning and the ending of a prayer. It is to pray in the mind and spirit of Jesus, while we believe His promises, rely upon His grace, and work His works.(Steps to Christ, 100, 101.) {Pr 219.2}

***********************************

PRAY BOTH IN JESUS NAME AND BY THE INSPIRATION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.When a man breathes an intensely earnest prayer to God (Jesus Christ is the only name given under heaven whereby we can be saved), there is in that intensity and earnestness a pledge from God that He is about to answer that prayer exceeding abundantly, above all that we can ask or think. We must not only pray in the name of Jesus, but by the inspiration and kindling of the Holy Spirit. This explains what is meant when it is said, the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which can not be uttered. The petitions must be offered in earnest faith. Then they will reach the mercy-seat. Unwearyingly persist in prayer. God does not say, Pray once, and I will answer you. His word is pray, be instant in prayer, believing ye have the things ye ask, and ye shall receive them; I will answer you.(The Gospel Herald, May 28, 1902.) {Pr 220.2}

*******************************************

The most needy, the most sinful, the most despised, may find access to the Father. When we come to Him in Jesus' name, the voice which spoke to Jesus speaks to us, saying; "This is My beloved child, in whom I am well pleased."  {SJ 42.8}

***************************************************

But let us not forget that as activity increases, and we become successful in doing the work that must be accomplished, there is danger of our trusting in human plans and methods. There will be a tendency to pray less, and to have less faith. We shall be in danger of losing our sense of dependence upon God, who alone can make our work succeed; but although this is the tendency, let no one think that the human instrument is to do less. No, he is not to do less, but to do more by accepting the heavenly gift, the Holy Spirit. The world in its own wisdom knew not God, and every human power is naturally, to a greater or less degree, opposed to God. We are to look to Jesus, and cooperate with heavenly agencies, offering our petitions to the Father in Jesus' name.--Review and Herald, July 4, 1893. {YRP 184.4}
*******************************************************

The same angel who visited Sodom is sounding the note of warning, "Escape for thy life." The bottles of God's wrath cannot be poured out to destroy the wicked and their works until all the people of God have been judged, and the cases of the living as well as the dead are decided. And even after the saints are sealed with the seal of the living God, His elect will have trials individually. Personal afflictions will come; but the furnace is closely watched by an eye that will not suffer the gold to be consumed. The indelible mark of God is upon them. God can plead that His own name is written there. The Lord has shut them in. Their destination is inscribed--"God, New Jerusalem." They are God's property, His possession.  {TM 446.1}

     Will this seal be put upon the impure in mind, the fornicator, the adulterer, the man who covets his neighbor's wife? Let your souls answer the question, Does my character correspond to the qualifications essential that I may receive a passport to the mansions Christ has prepared for those who are fitted for them? Holiness must be inwrought in our character.  {TM 446.2}

     God has shown me that at the very time that the signs of the times are being fulfilled around us, when we hear, as it were, the tread of the hosts of heaven fulfilling their mission, men of intelligence, men in responsible positions, will be putting rotten timbers in their character building--material which is consumable in the day of God, and which will decide them to be unfit to enter the mansions above. They have refused to let go the filthy garments; they have clung to them as if they were of precious value. They will lose heaven and an eternity of bliss on account of them.  {TM 446.3}

I don't know it to be nonsense but there is too many variations and none today know for sure what it would be in the English.  Most Hebrew scholars  do render it "Yahweh".

Well the KJV now where the sacred name must be rendered renders it thus,

Ps 68:4 Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him.

The abbreviated form.  The J sound is a Y sound and so we say Yah.

However we address Him the great thing to remember is that we come in utmost Reverence to the one and only one who is Reverend.  It was the great fear to properly say the Name with enough esteem and Reverence that it became lost.  But know this, whatever name you use He knows you are addressing Him and He knows with how much esteem and Reverence you have for Him.

Angels prostrate themselves at His feet and in His Presence and He does have a Presence we would be consumed.

We must be changed drastically to ever exist in His Presence.  Enoch was and had to be changed back to come back to men to give them the book God had dictated to Him.  Enoch was with Him face to face and now has a very high position in Heaven.  That info is from his writings.

Note the names of many of the old men and prophets like Isaiah, actually with the sound Yah in them.  How about Hallelujah?  Is saying "Praise be to Jah".

I still use the name Yahshua because Yah dwells in Him in all fullness.  Not always but when I pray as He is our connection to the Father and the Throne of Grace.  Joh 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Col 1:19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
Col 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

in this day and age it seems we have a lack of reverence ... people say God's name frivolously without even thinking...  I do believe that many take the Lord's name in vain these days...

EGW had no problem saying the name of Jesus or Jehovah...  we should follow her example I believe

I've heard that some will not use yahoo because it is a slang of 'Yahway' and therefore blasphemous

My kids know my name, but I would be insulted if my son or daughter called me by that.   "Dad" is the desired word.  Jesus taught us to call His Father,  our Father.
