Criteria for Choosing University/Supervisors
Permalink

If you had the opportunity to do postgraduate study and help people through your research, what would be your criteria for choosing a university? There are problems in Seventh-day Adventist institutions as well as in other institutions. If you had to choose a university and supervisors to work with for potentially 8 years, what would be your reasons for making the choice? confuse

I look forward to your advice. aww

I really don't understand how the postgraduate system works.  I guess i would look at it in almost the same way as a regular job - would they allow Sabbaths off?  The only thing i can think of, is if the people you will work directly under are strong Evolutionists, they could make life very difficult, or make it impossible to complete the program.  I think that is one of the biggest concerns - that your superiors may try to force you to compromise your beliefs.

these days most universities are based on ungodly principles.....

pray pray pray

search for one that will allow religious freedoms as webmaster said

check out the people that willl be your superiors and see what their character is like

rely on God's leading, wait for His voice to guide you

Thank you both for your advice. I will keep praying about this matter.

It is very easy to get caught up in popular philosophies, theories, methodologies and so on. Choosing an Adventist supervisor does not necessarily hinder this tendency. However, on a personal level, at least there would be more in common than with a non-Adventist supervisor.

Thanks.
