I just put up a testimony of a friend i met at the Passover/Unleavened Bread campmeeting in Terra Bella, California. It is quite a powerful testimony, a bit over 12 minutes long. The dog in the first part is pretty cute too :)
I don't see how anyone could ever get off into the Lunar-Sabbath error, as they say that the 7th day Sabbath is always on the 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th of every month, and every month starts with a new moon. So maybe this month your 7th day sabbath would fall on Wednesday, the next month on Sunday, and so on --- ridiculous. But quite a large percentage of the "feast-keepers" are into this stuff, so Michael Pedrin from India was requested to share from the inspired words how this cannot possibly be true.
The sermon by Kimber Hoffman, dressed as an ancient Israelite priest, is mostly standard fare during the first half for Seventh-day Adventists, as he points out how the Roman Catholic Church has defiled the Sanctuary. But in the last half he makes a practical application, showing how we must cleanse the heart defilement, and shows how the Statutes of the Lord are necessary in this work of cleansing.
Men and women may study the will of God with profit. Let young men and young women, while the dew of youth is upon them, begin to study the word of God, which expresses his will. The steps of Christ are certainly marked out in the word. Go where they can be found today. Do not seek to go back to the land where Christ's feet trod ages ago. Christ says: "He that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." We can know far more of Christ by following him step by step in the work of redemption, seeking the lost and the perishing, than by journeying to old Jerusalem. Christ has taken his people into his church. He has swept away every ceremony of the ancient type. He has given no liberty to restore these rites, or to substitute anything that will recall the old literal sacrifices. The Lord requires of his people spiritual sacrifices alone. Everything pertaining to his worship is placed under the superintendence of his Holy Spirit. Jesus said that the Father would send the Holy Spirit in his name to teach his disciples all things, and to bring all things unto their remembrance that he had said unto them. The curse rests upon Jerusalem. The Lord has obliterated those things which men would worship in and about Jerusalem, yet many hold in reverence literal objects in Palestine, while they neglect to behold Jesus as their advocate in the heaven of heavens.{RH, Feb 25, 1896 par. 8}
Thank you for the nice quote about not going back to Jerusalem. There were some in Ellen White's day insisting on that, and still some today. In fact, i read somewhere that it has gotten so bad that foreigner SDAs go to Israel to "be baptized where Jesus was", that an article was written against that, as it belittles the believer's first baptism, and there is no need for a second baptism unless of course there is a gross falling-away, and that person wants to rededicate their lives to Christ. But just for a "good feeling", or "it's cool to do it where Jesus did" is not good.
I was shown a good quote the other day about Jesus never observing the temple rites or ceremonies:
******* Advent Review and Sabbath Herald (6RH), 10-24-1899, Our Example
Christ passed through all the experiences of his childhood, youth, and manhood without the observance of ceremonial temple worship
In other places, we have Jesus direct example that he DID keep the feasts. (Matt. 26:17 etc.)
Most of my video shot during my recent trip to the Passover/Unleavened Bread campmeeting is up on YouTube now. Probably my favorite as far as "eye candy" goes is the one showing me actually moving during the trip. Especially snow-capped Mt. Fuji from around 3:40 to 5:00, with the best shot at 4:30 is awesome!
