caused them to leap in the gladness of their hearts, and glorify God they glorified God for the mighty display of his power great joy and happiness. (5.4)

He wrought mightily for all who believed on him. (5.4)

 95. List three attributes of Christ's life. benevolence, sympathy and love. (5.5)


96. Why were many of those healed by Jesus ashamed of him?
ashamed of the humble, yet mighty teacher. Because the rulers did not believe on him, they were not willing to suffer with Jesus. He was a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. (5.5)

 

97. Could many endure to live like Jesus?
But few could endure to be governed by his sober, self-denying life. (5.5)


98. Were Jesus' words so plain that anyone could understand?
His words were full of meaning, yet so plain that the weakest could understand. (5.5)


99. Who did Satan stir up to take Jesus' life?
Satan stirred up the chief of the people and the rulers to take his life. (5.6)


100. Who did Jesus speak encouragingly to?
They saw him in love and tenderness speak encouragingly to the weak and afflicted. (5.6)

 
101. Did any of the Jewish leaders believe on Jesus, and if so, why did they not acknowledge it?
I saw that many of the magistrates and elders did believe on Jesus. But Satan kept them from acknowledging it. They feared the reproach of the people more than they feared God. (5.6)


102. If Jesus would resent the cruelty and scorn to be heaped upon him, what did Satan hope Jesus would do?
He hoped that Jesus would resent such treatment, and not maintain his humility and meekness. (5.7)

103. Could the disciples understand what Jesus meant about being crucified and rising again?
But their understanding seemed dull. They could not comprehend what he told them. (5.8)


Bonus question: What was Jesus' method of working, and can we be successful doing that today?

They related what they had witnessed of his miracles, and the holy words of wisdom, love and knowledge which they had heard, and ended saying, Never man spake like this man. (5.6) We can speak Jesus words today. We can be successful if we maintain his humility and meekness. (5.7)
