I still remember one time when i was around 5 or 6 years old. My mother was a deep student of the Bible and Spirit of Prophecy. One morning she woke up us 3 brothers, and told my oldest brother that the tires on his beloved car were flat. He ran out to look at the tires. My mother watched, smiling from the front door, then hooted and laughed up a great storm when she finally said "April's Fools!"
I probably laughed too then, but also vaguely realized that there were times that it was OK to lie ---- not good!
While teaching at the SDA-layman-run international school in Bangkok last year, i saw many times when SDA teachers would lie to the students to get them to perform as desired. No wonder that the kids take the lying spirit home with them, as they have learned not to trust what people say with their mouths.
