I know that I need to walk closely with God to withstand Satan's attacks. However, what Bible verse/s can I use in the following situation. A senior family member does not agree with my choices. They say I am behaving that way because of lies which Satan has planted in my heart, probably in my formative years. I have a need/problem which I am not surrendering to Jesus. Is there truth in this line of argument or is it just popular psychology? How can I be confident of my motives, especially when I am being viewed critically and harassed with such ideas? I will meet this family member in a week. How can I prepare?
Is there truth in this line of argument or is it just popular psychology? This is impossible to answer from the information given. If you are walking in the light, then you should not follow your senior family member's advice. If not, then of course you should. Jesus made it clear that he came to set one family member against another - not because he wants it that way, but because the truth is like a dividing line. All those who seek to follow God will experience tribulation in this world. Trials are God's way of making us lean more upon him
We have to meet such things like Jesus did, no matter how it hurts or feels. He is always our example. We must try to forgive them and to realize that maybe it is a lack of understanding. Sometimes people have blinders on that they do not see truth and we must be patient and try our best to be the silent preacher.
Know that the books in heaven record everything that you are going through and it all counts in your favor if you suffer for Jesus. I think that many of us that have chosen a different road have met with the harsh judgment of others whether they are friends or family.
Know also that in this life there will always be a struggle but soon and very soon it will all be over and we will have the hope of heaven realized and eternal life of joy! Then, it will all be worth it.
