Recently I listened to a message from an Adventist pastor named Dave Westbrook. His sermon was on the Abomination of Desolation and how it relates to our time.

More importantly he speaks on the time to leave the cities. This is something that I don't really hear many SDA's talking about and since it's so important I thought to share the link to that sermon here.

Please pray, take some time to read and, then study this topic out then let me know your thoughts.

Here is the link: where you can read the message. I think that the audio is not working at the moment.

May God bless and guide you.

This is great that a Pastor is willing to preach our historical beliefs and counsels. More need to realize that what they call old beliefs are in fact Present truth.

I heard this about a year ago and was shocked that I'd never heard a pastor talk about this before.  Most of the pastors do know the message but do not talk about it.

Dave W. makes it sound like we won't get the out pouring of the HS if we remain in the big cities.  He makes it sound like we will be unprotected if we stay in the big cities.  I'm not so sure that this is the case.  If you can get out into the country, I'd say go and do it but I do think God will still help his people get out like he did Lot.

I'm wanting to get out now but it is not possible for me to do so just yet.  I was advised that by giving up my tv is the best way to "get out of the city" even if you are still there.  I have given it up except for news and weather.  3ABN when I can get it, is a favorite.

It is true that the evil in the cities will eventually force us all out.  It is so difficult to make those moves.  I often wish I'd know this 8 years ago when we moved to where we are now.  The Lord didn't impress me to do otherwise back then.  I wonder why sometimes....

God knows the time and he will let us know when it is time for each one of us. But let us not forget the counsel already given and incorporate it into our walk woth the Lord.

"CHAPTER 36

The Time of Jacob's Trouble

I saw the saints leaving the cities and villages, and associating in companies together, and living in the most solitary places. Angels provided them food and water; but the wicked were suffering with hunger and thirst."

Notice that this is written about the time occuring AFTER the Close of Probation.

Yes, if we know duty, and do not follow it, we will become like Lot's wife.  However, there will be many who come into the truth as "11th-hour-men" as it were, and there will be some of them in the cities, and they will obviously stay there until the Time of Jacob's Trouble.  Those of us who know now, should be trying our best to find a way out, even if it is just to get a couple of acres out in the countryside where we can go soon to raise our food, as we won't be able to buy or sell for some time, perhaps as long as 3 1/2 years.

Hello Daniel,

Thank you for the Forum. Yes God's people will leave the cities and villages, but most or all will not have been living there, but working there. Why do you say 11th hour workers will obviously stay in the cities until the Time of Jacob's Trouble? Have you evidence from the Bible or SOP? I see no permission to stay in the cities if at all possible.

Regards,

Gordon

Hello Gordon-san!  Great to hear from you again, if you are the Gordon-san i think you are

"Have you evidence from the Bible or SOP?"  Yes, the inspired Spirit of Prophecy quote for some being in the cities even AFTER the Close of Probation is given in the quote just before your post

Please don't think i'm saying it's OK to stay in the cities now.  Those of us who know the truth now, we should be getting out, getting out into the countryside so we can grow our own food, and not get caught up in the big problems that will happen soon in the cities.

I come from Kenya and I grew up in Nairobi, which is the capital. I remember my childhood as I grew up to my teen age – Nairobi was a wonderful city to live in – infact they termed it a pride of Africa – Nairobi Kenya! Today when you visit that city – totally different – unemployment at rampage! No Jobs! Crime rampage! Car hijacking! Name it – all kinds of crime! Its completely unbearable to live in that city anymore – at least for those who knew what iit was 20yrs ago - You cant walk the streets anymore at night! And As soon as the sun falls down– evil possessed men are out on the streets! And they are no signs of any thing getting better! The rich are getting richer – and even with their riches – the can barely enjoy that wealth - they are scared to walk the street! They are not free! They are not safe! And this trend I believe will soon follow the so-called developed world - as God withdraws His Spirit slowly by and by! Watch out when God says get out of the big cities – through the Prophet!

We are told over and over by sister White to leave the cities. There is a booklet called country living which is such a blessing. She explains why we should leave the cities, and how we should live. Here is a section from that booklet:

Away From the Cities

Get out of the cities as soon as possible and purchase a little piece of land where you can have a garden, where your children can watch the flowers growing and learn from them lessons of simplicity and purity.--2SM 356 (1903). {LDE 95.1}
Out of the cities, is my message at this time. Be assured that the call is for our people to locate miles away from the large cities. One look at San Francisco as it is today would speak to your intelligent minds, showing you the necessity of getting out of the cities. . . . {LDE 95.2}
The Lord calls for His people to locate away from the cities, for in such an hour as ye think not, fire and brimstone will be rained from heaven upon these cities. Proportionate to their sins will be their visitation. When one city is destroyed, let not our people regard this matter as a light affair, and think that they may, if favorable opportunity offers, build themselves homes in that same destroyed city. . . . {LDE 95.3}
Let all who would understand the meaning of these things read the eleventh chapter of Revelation. Read every verse, and learn the things that are yet to take place in the cities. Read also the scenes portrayed in the eighteenth chapter of the same book.--MR 1518 (May 10, 1906). {LDE 95.4}
Fathers and mothers who possess a piece of land and a comfortable home are kings and queens.--AH 141 (1894). {LDE 96.1}

God Bless you
Jeff W
