Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ

I would appreciate an answer to my dilemma asap.

In my home, an adult loved one watches movies that I do not approve of. To date I have tolerated the behavior. I'm not in a position to force them to stop. I have prayed for years that they will stop. I don't have the opportunity to remove myself from the situation.

The movie watching is a serious threat to my spirituality whether I am an active or passive viewer. I'm hopeful that I will receive helpful advice and encouragement in the next day or so.

I will continue to pray for change while I take action.

It's going to be a serious struggle but the only option I have is redirecting the person into other activities. They will not be interested in spiritual or church activities. So I am left with entertainment (board games etc) and recreation (swimming etc).

PLEASE GIVE ME A LIST OF ACTIVITIES. I'M DESPERATE!!!

Many thanks. Your sister in Christ.

Thanks Ed. It doesn't matter who the family member is. The reality is that I have no authority to tell them what to do, hence the desire to redirect them. If I try to modify viewing habits (e.g. reducing the rating level from Mature to Parental Guidance) I'm accused of being a religious fanatic. I have tried repeatedly attacking the problem directly to no avail, therefore my desire to redirect them is serious. We live in a small house and I cannot escape from the media consumption. This now happens during Sabbath hours. I know there are many women who have to tolerate the same thing. However, my spirituality is so vulnerable and at great risk. Humbly requesting support through prayers and advice. Many thanks.

The way it sounds, the person wants to watch the movies he wants to watch, no matter what you do....

It is really hard to believe that you cannot remove yourself from the situation, especially during the Sabbath hours.

Would Jesus sit there and take in a *Mature* movie on the Sabbath hours?

If even suggesting a Christian movie on the Sabbath, or some innocent activity like going out in nature is not accepted, then it sounds like you might be best off living elsewhere at least over the Sabbath hours.  If the problem occurs Friday night, then perhaps you could sleep on the sofa or floor in the living room?

I have a Christian Sister who had this same problem, except that her house had 2 bedrooms, so she could escape the noise when necessary.

You will be in my prayers about this matter.

Keep your eyes on Jesus!

Band other God Fearing women in a group together, whom this also distresses in their homes, start an intercessory prayer group.

Hebrews 4:12  For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

2nd Corinthians 10:

3  For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

4  (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

5  Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

6  And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
