USA recognizes Jerusalem as capital of Israel

This is week-old news by now, but I wondered if there are any thots on this development?

Personally, I:ve believed for many years that the physical city of Jerusalem will be the center of attention for the whole world at the end time, and that Revelation 11 is specifically talking about this city.

I see the U.S. forging ahead in doing what is right, yet Satan will try to use this to his advantage, and sit in the temple in Jerusalem, showing himself as god.

Of course we know Jesus will win in the end, and he will utterly overthrow that great city where he was crucified, and that has the blood of all the prophets in it.

It might be well to mention this verse:

Luke 21:24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led
away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of
the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

There have been SDAs who have seen this as an unfulfilled geopolitical prophecy, that refers not to the spiritual restoration of literal Israel, but to its political restoration.  Arthur Maxwell and Jean Zurcher are two specific names.

Some of the key dates in this restoration are as follows:

1948 - state of Israel formed

1967 - six day war, with Jerusalem reunited

1980 - Israel moves capital to Jerusalem

2017 - USA recognizes Jerusalem as capital

The "times of the Gentiles" is seen as the period when the gospel is proclaimed to the whole world (Acts 1:8, Romans 1:16, etc.), and this period is eclipsed as apostasy starts to enter the church (e.g. QOD in the mid-1950s).

We know that the Two Witnesses will have to witness from a physical place, and the text in Revelation 11 makes it very clear that it is where their Lord was crucified.  That can only possibly be referring to Jerusalem.

Why don:t many of our fellow Adventists understand and believe the simple words of the Bible?

Have we done a poor job of teaching and believing that the Bible means just what it says?

I:m really concerned that in some ways, our own people will be caught by surprise just as much as the whole world when these prophetic events take place in front of our very eyes.
