Dear Early SDA

Can I possibly edit the title of this thread or delete it and start again?  The title is not quite right.  I would like it to be:

"... and the Sabbath is the sign but not the seal."

Many thanks

The enemies of God's law, from the ministers down to the least among them, have a new conception of truth and duty. Too late they see that the Sabbath of the fourth commandment is the seal of the living God. Too late they see the true nature of their spurious sabbath and the sandy foundation upon which they have been building. They find that they have been fighting against God. Religious teachers have led souls to perdition while professing to guide them to the gates of Paradise. Not until the day of final accounts will it be known how great is the responsibility of men in holy office and how terrible are the results of their unfaithfulness. Only in eternity can we rightly estimate the loss of a single soul. Fearful will be the doom of him to whom God shall say: Depart, thou wicked servant.  {GC 640.1}

That will depend if you are worshipping the living God, or if you are worshipping the three co-eternal Gods of the Trinity doctrine.  Because the living God in the First Commandment has to be the same living God in the Fourth Commandment.

Please see the below link.  Please note that I do not endorse everything unless they speak according to the Word of God and the Spirit of Prophecy.  Thanks

If GC 1911 is considered to be a poor source, then it's possible to go back to 1849 on this particular issue.  Note the last part of the quote below.

Now is the time to lay up treasure in heaven, and to set our hearts in order, ready for the time of trouble. Those only who have clean hands and a pure heart will stand that trying time. Now is the time for the law of God to be in our minds (foreheads), and written in our hearts. The Lord has shown me the danger of letting our minds be filled with worldly thoughts and cares. I saw that some minds were led away from present truth and a love of the holy Bible, by reading other exciting books; and others were filled with perplexity and care for what they shall eat, drink and wear. I saw some, looking too far off for the coming of the Lord. Time has continued on a few years longer than they expected, therefore they think it may continue a few years more, and in this way their minds are being led from present truth, out after the world. In these things I saw great danger; for if the mind is filled with other things, present truth is shut out, and there is no place in our foreheads for the seal of the living God. This seal is the Sabbath. I saw that the time for Jesus to be in the most holy place was nearly finished, and that time can last but a very little longer; and what leisure time we have should be spent in searching the Bible, which is to judge us in the last day.  {Broadside2, January 31, 1849 par. 11}

Sonia Colque Fernandez, that the Sabbath is the seal and the sign is abundantly clear from inspired words.

Let:s believe and follow all of God:s words.

And regarding the Trinity, that there are three persons in the Godhead is from inspired words.  Granted the term *Trinity* carries a lot of Catholic baggage, and I believe it was a big mistake for our SDA leaders to vote to put that wording in our fundamental beliefs, but the fact that there are 3 beings in the Godhead is indisputable.

Quotations from the writings of Ellen G. White with the phrase . . .

    Seal  of  God

The Sabbath is not introduced as a new institution but as having been founded at creation. It is to be remembered and observed as the memorial of the Creator's work. Pointing to God as the Maker of the heavens and the earth, it distinguishes the true God from all false gods. All who keep the seventh day signify by this act that they are worshipers of Jehovah. Thus the Sabbath is the sign of man's allegiance to God as long as there are any upon the earth to serve Him. The fourth commandment is the only one of all the ten in which are found both the name and the title of the Lawgiver. It is the only one that shows by whose authority the law is given. Thus it contains the seal of God, affixed to His law as evidence of its authenticity and binding force.  Patriarchs and Prophets, page 307.2

The day of God's vengeance is just upon us. The seal of God will be placed upon the foreheads of those only who sigh and cry for the abominations done in the land. Those who link in sympathy with the world are eating and drinking with the drunken, and will surely be destroyed with the workers of iniquity. "The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears are open unto their cry;" but "the face of the Lord is against them that do evil." Psalm 34:15, 16. {CET 187.2}

The class who do not feel grieved over their own spiritual declension, nor mourn over the sins of others, will be left without the seal of God. The Lord commissions His messengers, the men with slaughtering weapons in their hands: "Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity: slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at My sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house."  {5T 211.1}

Those who link in sympathy with the world are eating and drinking with the drunken and will surely be destroyed with the workers of iniquity. When Seal of God Is Refused.-- If the light of truth has been presented to you, revealing the Sabbath of the fourth commandment, and showing that there is no foundation in the Word of God for Sunday observance, and yet you still cling to the false sabbath, refusing to keep holy the Sabbath which God calls "My holy day," you receive the mark of the beast. When does this take place? When you obey the decree that commands you to cease from labor on Sunday and worship God, while you know that there is not a word in the Bible showing Sunday to be other than a common working day, you consent to receive the mark of the beast, and refuse the seal of God. -- Review and Herald, July 13, 1897.  {Ev 235.2}

The fifty-eighth chapter of Isaiah contains present truth for the people of God. Here we see how medical missionary work and the gospel ministry are to be bound together as the message is given to the world. Upon those who keep the Sabbath of the Lord is laid the responsibility of doing a work of mercy and benevolence. Medical missionary work is to be bound up with the message, and sealed with the seal of God.-- Manuscript 22, 1901.  {Ev 516.4}

The Sabbath will be the great test of loyalty, for it is the point of truth especially controverted. When the final test shall be brought to bear upon men, then the line of distinction will be drawn between those who serve God and those who serve Him not. While the observance of the false sabbath in compliance with the law of the state, contrary to the fourth commandment, will be an avowal of allegiance to a power that is in opposition to God, the keeping of the true Sabbath, in obedience to God's law, is an evidence of loyalty to the Creator. While one class, by accepting the sign of submission to earthly powers, receive the mark of the beast, the other choosing the token of allegiance to divine authority, receive the seal of God.  {GC 605.2}

Not all who profess to keep the Sabbath will be sealed. There are many even among those who teach the truth to others who will not receive the seal of God in their foreheads. They had the light of truth, they knew their Master's will, they understood every point of our faith, but they had not corresponding works. These who were so familiar with prophecy and the treasures of divine wisdom, should have acted their faith. They should have commanded their households after them, that by a well-ordered family they might present to the world the influence of the truth upon the human heart. {CET 189.1}
 Not one of us will ever receive the seal of God while our characters have one spot or stain upon them. It is left with us to remedy the defects in our characters, to cleanse the soul-temple of every defilement. Then thelatter rain will fall upon us as the early rain fell upon the disciples on the day of Pentecost. {CET 189.2}

In addition, I watched this video from Nader Mansour: The forgotten Truth    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1HtMQrU17U

where he says, that We not only have to keep holy the right day, but also we need to be worshiping the TRUE God.  The war in the last days is which GOD will you worship?  We must have the right Day, but MOST IMPORTANTLY we must have the RIGHT GOD.  And I am in full agreement.

What is the Seal of God?

The book of Revelation talks about the seal of God in the foreheads of the Seal of Godsaints. But what is the seal and what is the significance of being marked in the forehead? The Seal of God and the Mark of the Beast are vital issues in the last days that we live in now, and to know the truth about the seal and what the mark is, is of utmost importance. Many Christians are waiting for a 'physical' mark to come along, but are missing the deeper spiritual aspect of the seal and mark.

We need to let the Word of God tell us what the seal is, and apply some common sense and logic, rather than just going along with the world's view on it. Don't forget, satan is doing his utmost to deceive as many people as he can. This is why we need to be rooted in God's Word, and if we are rooted in His Word, then God will reveal the truth and we shall not be moved by the evil one. So what is this seal in Revelation?

See also our important page on CHRIST AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS in connection with this study.

Revelation 7:2-3 ...'And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.' ... So, the servants of God receive a 'seal' in their foreheads.

Revelation 13:16-17 ...'And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, OR the nameof the beast, OR the number of his name.' ... And those who follow the beast will either have the mark, name or number of the beast.

So we know from prophecy that there will be two groups of people during the Bible end times. Those who receive the seal of God will be saved and gain eternal life. But take a look at what happens to those who receive the mark of the beast.

Seal of GodRevelation 14:9-10 ...'And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb.' ... I think we want the Seal of God right? This is one of the most urgent warnings in the Bible. And it is the only time that the wrath of God is poured out WITHOUT mixture. What does that mean? Well, when God pours out His wrath upon people, it is always MIXED with mercy. But here at the end time, God will remove His mercy and those who follow the beast of Revelation 13 and receive the mark, will receive the full wrath of God WITHOUT mercy.

Take a look at this shocking warning!! ...

Ezekiel 9:4-10 ...'And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof. And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity:Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house. And he said unto them, Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain: go ye forth. And they went forth, and slew in the city. And it came to pass, while they were slaying them, and I was left, that I fell upon my face, and cried, and said, Ah Lord GOD! wilt thou destroy all the residue of Israel in thy pouring out of thy fury upon Jerusalem? Then said he unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverseness: for they say, The LORD hath forsaken the earth, and the LORD seeth not. And as for me also, mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity, but I will recompense their way upon their head.'

Study the 9th chapter of Ezekiel. These words will be literally fulfilled; yet the time is passing, and the people are asleep. They refuse to humble their souls and to be converted. Not a great while longer will the Lord bear with the people who have such great and important truths revealed to them, but who refuse to bring these truths into their individual experience. The time is short. God is calling; will YOU hear? Will YOU receive His message? Will YOU be converted before it is too late? Soon, very soon, every case will be decided for eternity." (E.G. White, Letter 106, 1909, pp. 2, 3, 5, 7. (To "The churches in Oakland and Berkeley", September 26, 1909.) E. G. White Manuscript Releases Volume One, p. 260)

Notice the "mark" in Ezekiel 9? This is the seal of God. Now the question is, are you sighing and crying for the iniquity of God's professed people? Do you lament over your own sins? Are you humbling yourself before God and turning away from sin and clothing yourself in Christ's righteousness? This is a serious issue friend, because those who do not feel grieved over their own sins, nor mourn over the sins of others, or the abominations being committed in the church, like the worship of THE FALSE TRINITY GOD, will be left without the seal of God.

Revelation 14:1 ...'And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.'

Now, have a real good think about this verse. Where do we get the seal and WHO'S name do we get sealed with? We are told that we are sealed with THE FATHER'S name and that we are sealed IN our foreheads. So, let us look at these two aspects. Who is the Father?

Praying to the Father, Jesus said ...John 17:3 ...'And this is eternal life, that they may know thee, THE ONLY TRUE GOD, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.'

1 Corinthians 8:6 ...'But to us there is but ONE GOD, THE FATHER, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.'

2 John 1:3 ...'Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from GOD THE FATHER, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.'

So who is 'the Father', whose 'name' we receive as the seal? He is the one true God, and Father of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. This is why the Bible doesn't say we are sealed with Jesus' name or the 'name of the Holy Spirit'. Because the ONE TRUE GOD of the Bible is NOT this 'trinity god' or '3 in 1 god' that the majority of churches worship. The one true God is the Father of Jesus, GOD THE FATHER. I cannot stress this enough! Do we receive the seal of "God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit"? Do we receive the seal of "the Trinity"? No. We receive the seal of the ONE TRUE GOD - THE FATHER. He alone is the one true God and it is HIS name and seal we receive. And where do we receive it? IN THE FOREHEAD. Meaning we receive it IN OUR MINDS.

Continuation from page 1 of The seal of God ...

"Just as soon as the people of God are sealed in their foreheads--it is not any seal or mark that can be seen, but a settling into the truth, both intellectually and spiritually, so they cannot be moved--just as soon as God's people are sealed and prepared for the shaking, it will come. Indeed, it has begun already; the judgments of God are now upon the land, to give us warning, that we may know what is coming." (E.White, Maranatha, p.200)

So those who receive God's seal, have the name of the one true God written in their foreheads. It is a settling into the truth and worshiping and living according to that truth in our minds. Now, can anyone who is NOT worshiping the one true God, get the seal of God? No, this is not possible. Which is why it is so important to find out the truth about the one true God and worship HIM, just as Revelation 14 calls us to.

Revelation 14:6-7 ...'And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, saying with a loud voice, fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.'

The final message that goes out to the world is a call to worship the one true God. The one true God which Jesus and the apostles revealed is God the Father. NOT 'God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit'. The Bible never tells us to worship a 'trinity' or 'triune god'. The Bible tells us to worship our heavenly Father, the one true God. To HIM ALONE the world is called to worship and give their allegiance to. And if you worship God the Father, then you will also worship and follow His Son, Jesus Christ - Revelation 14:12.

But some Christians seem to think that this is a literal mark, just like they think that the mark of the beast is a literal mark, because the word "MARK" in Revelation means 'a mark'. Well, in Revelation 17 John also sees a woman riding a beast and on her forehead was the name 'Mystery Babylon the Great'. Now I'm sure no one doubts that this isn't an actual prostitute woman riding around the earth on a literal beast, with that name tattooed on her forehead! Also, in Revelation 13, we find two beasts causing the earth to worship them. Now the meaning of those words "beasts" are literal beasts. So are we to believe that there will be literal beasts roaming the earth causing the people of the world to worship them? No, I don't think so. Revelation is full of prophetic symbols and this woman and these beasts are just some of them. The name on her forehead is also symbolic, the same as the name of God on the servants foreheads. So we are dealing with a 'spiritual' seal or mark.

Those who are sealed have the FATHER's name in their forehead. Not the false name of'God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit'. Only those who understand THE TRUE GODHEAD, will receive the seal of the ONE true God, the Father ... AND who follow His Son, Jesus Christ wheresoever He goeth.

God's Commands, His Character and the Seal

What does it mean to have the Father's name in our foreheads (minds)? Does it just simply mean to 'acknowledge' who the Father is? Or is there more to this? Look at how God revealed 'His name' to Moses on the mount ... Exodus 34:5-7 ...'And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.'

The Lord passed by Moses and declared His name. And as you can see above, this isn't just a simple 'name' that God is revealing. He is revealing His CHARACTER - merciful, gracious, longsuffering, forgiving, just. These attributes of character are referred to as 'the name of the LORD'. And we can see that Jesus confirmed the same ... John 17:6 ...'I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.' ... Jesus hadn't just pronounced God's name correctly, He revealed through His earthly life the true CHARACTER of our Heavenly Father. So when it says in Bible prophecy that those who serve God will have their Father's name in their foreheads, it doesn't just mean that they KNOW and ACKNOWLEDGE who the one true God is. It also means that His attributes of character have become part of their thinking and actions. This is why the 'forehead' (our mind) is where we receive the seal of God.

"Love is expressed in obedience, and perfect love casteth out all fear. Those who love God, have the seal of God in their foreheads,and work the works of God." (SD 51, 1894)

Important Note: We teach that we are saved only by the grace of God the Father, through faith in the righteousness of Christ Jesus His Son. The grace of God is a free gift, and as such cannot be obtained by our works. BUT those who are "under grace" should naturally produce works towards God's law as evidence of their faith in Jesus. We keep God's law out of love for Him. And God knows who His people are - The one's who are obedient to His will and are being sanctified. A mere profession of faith without true conversion is vain and useless.

Revelation 14:12 ...'Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, AND the faith of Jesus.' ... In the last days, God will have a group of people that are keeping His Ten Commandments AND the faith of Jesus. Did you notice something in the above verse that many people miss? Many professing christians ignore the ten commandments and say that we just need to keep the commands that Jesus gave in the New Testament. Well, what does it say above? The commandments of who? GOD! But they ALSO have the faith of Jesus. And notice the saints are not just keeping faith IN Jesus, they keep the faith OF Jesus. They don't just believe in Him, they FOLLOW Him.

Please see our important page on THE FAITH OF JESUS.

So what has the seal of God got to do with His Commandments? Take a look at the following verses:

Isaiah 8:16 ...'Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.'

Exodus 13:9 ...'And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the LORD's law may be in thy mouth.'

Deuteronomy 6:1-8 ...'Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it: That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged. Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey. Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.'

Continuation from page 2 ....

A sign and a seal are the same. Take a look at Romans 4:11 ...'And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith.'

The true servants of God Keep the Ten Commandments, and this is a sign that they are God's people. God didn't want the Israelites to physically write His law on their heads or hands. What the above verses mean, is that God wanted His law INSIDE their minds. He wanted them to think about His Law each day, so that they would not sin against Him ... Hebrews 10:16 ...'This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them.' ... His Commandments would be IN our minds.

1 John 2:3-4 ...'And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.'

1 John 5:3 ...'For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.'... As you can see, the true servants of God obey Him and keep His Commandments. God knows they are His and they receive His seal. Therefore, to receive the Mark of the Beast, you have to go against God and His law. The people at the end who receive God's seal will be keeping ALL TEN Commandments, including the Sabbath commandment, and the people who receive the mark of the Beast will NOT be keeping His commandments, because the beast has caused them to go against God's Law and obey man instead.

So at the end, just before the second coming of Christ Jesus, we will have two groups of people. The one group who yield their minds to the beast and receive the mark of the beast, and the other group who yield their minds to God and will have the seal in their foreheads.

sealDoes God's commandments contain any type of 'seal' in them to reveal a 'sign' that we are worshiping the one true God? Well, let us take a look at a seal of an earthly king or ruler. The seal of a king/ruler contains 3 things; his name; his title or claim of authority; his region of rulership. Let's take an example: 1. Barack Obama 2. President 3. United States of America. Now what is the purpose of a seal?

Daniel 6:15-17 ...'Then these men assembled unto the king, and said unto the king, Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, That no decree nor statute which the king establisheth may be changed. Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee. And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.' ... So the seal of the King confirms that his command cannot be changed by anyone.

Does the Law of God contain a sign or seal?

Within God's ten commandments, is there any 'seal or sign' that tells us who we are to worship and give our allegiance to? Yes, the 4th commandment. Did you know that the sabbath commandment is the only commandment that tells us who we are to worship? The 4th commandment contains God's "signature", if we can put it that way. So what is one reason that God gave us the sabbath commandment?

Exodus 31:16-17 ...'Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.'

Many Christians will look at this and say that this was just for the Jews. What they fail to realize is that Christianity is aCONTINUATION of the Jewish religion ... Romans 9:6-8 ...'Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called. That is, they which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.' ... Would you say we (Christians) are the "children of the promise"? Of course we are. So we are now the children of Israel.

So the Bible Sabbath day is a sign of God or seal, revealing His authority as the Creator of the heavens and the earth, and by keeping it, we are proclaiming Jehovah, our One true Creator, as the God we worship. Now take a look at the 4th Commandment ...

Exodus 20:8-11 ...'Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.'

Did you see the seal of God in this Commandment? His name: The LORD; His Title or Authority: Creator; His area of rulership:Heaven and earth.

The 4th Commandment is the ONLY Commandment that reveals WHO we worship.

So the 4th Commandment proclaims the seventh day (our Saturday) to be the Sabbath Day of the LORD. To confirm this, God has set His seal on this Commandment, showing that it cannot be changed by anyone on earth. Let's face it, God knew that the antichrist system (Roman Catholic Church) would come in and change His law and try to get man to worship her, instead of God. And this is why God fixed His seal to His law, which is obtained spiritually by those who obey His law and worship the one true God and keep the very day that He specified in the Ten Commandments. The true saints are those who keep the Commandments of God, including the Seventh Day Sabbath and they obey and proclaim His authority, rather than the beast.

NOTE: We do not receive the seal of God by just keeping the 7th Day Sabbath

Do we receive the seal of God if we just keep the fourth commandment? No, we need to be worshiping the one true God - THE FATHER, and through the faith of Jesus, the Son of God, keep ALL of God's ten commandments to be sealed. The warning in Revelation 14 isn't just telling us to make sure we keep the 7th day Sabbath. It is telling us to worship the one true God and FOLLOW Jesus BY FAITH. Which means we are to keep ALL of the commandments to be sealed, not just the 4th commadment.

Yes, the Sabbath issue will be part of the final test upon the world, when Rome's mark (the Sunday rest law) is enforced by law. But there are 9 other commandments that we are also to keep. And there is also a major deception throughout the churches today concerning the very God we worship. The Roman Church has deceived the majority of churches into worshiping her false 'trinity god', of which the Bible never speaks of. Whereas the Bible calls us to worship the one true God - GOD THE FATHER, and to follow His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour (John 17:3, 1 Corinthians 8:6, 1 John 1:3, 1 Timothy 2:5).

Will you obey and worship the one true God and receive His seal? Or will you follow the beast and receive it's mark? Remember, those who receive the mark of the beast will be thrown into the lake of fire and be forever destroyed, and will miss out on an eternal life of pure joy with the LORD. But those who receive the seal of God will inherit this eternal life of joy!

part-1

We are used to the word God denoting a person, but the word God also denotes rank and position, referring to a Divine self existent being who is creator   We as created creatures are always lesser in rank, so in the chain of command in the government of the universe, there are three Gods who are co-creators - to Whom we in our position owe absolute allegiance. The word God also means ruler, there are three tiers of ruler-ship in Heaven. The three tiers of rule are in 100% agreement - thus they are one through agreement.

The Most High God ( the highest ranking God by mutual agreement among the three )

Luke 1:

26 ¶  And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

27  To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgins name was Mary.

28  And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

29  And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

30  And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

31  And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

32  He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

33  And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

34  Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

35  And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

 Mark 5:7  And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.

The Word of God ( The Second Highest ranking God by mutual agreement among the three )

 1 Corinthians 11:3  But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

The Holy Ghost / Holy Spirit ( The most subordinated God by mutual agreement among the three )

John 14:26  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Acts 5:

1 ¶  But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

2  And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles feet.

3  But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

4  Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

5  And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

6  And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.

7  And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.

8  And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.

9  Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.

10  Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.

11  And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

12 ¶  And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomons porch.

Part-2 - concluded

Humans are bought with the price of the second member of the Godhead's life blood; all that the members of the Godhead own they mutually share the ownership of.  The third member of the Godhead executed Ananias and Sapphira part of that purchased possession without it being robbery of the second member of the Godhead.

Jesus says speaking of the Father John 17:10  And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.11 ¶  And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

So this mutual ownership applies between the three members of the Godhead.

Genesis 1:26  And God <0430> said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Scripture does not say there is only one divine person / creator   as far as numerics

Exodus 15:11  Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?

Psalms 82:1  « A Psalm of Asaph. » God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.

Psalms 86:8  Among the gods there is none like unto thee, O Lord; neither are there any works like unto thy works.

Scripture does say their is only one God (Divine Co-Creator Supreme Ruler) Deuteronomy 6:4  Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:

Zechariah 14:9  And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.

Mark 12:29  And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

1 Corinthians 8:6  But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

Ephesians 4:5  One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

1 Corinthians 6:17  But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

1 Corinthians 12:13  For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

Ephesians 2:18  For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

Ephesians 4:4  There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

Philippians 1:27  Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

1st Corinthians 15:22  For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

23  But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christs at his coming.

24  Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.

25  For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

26  The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

27  For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.

28  And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

 The Seal of God includes all three members of the God Head - just like Baptism and entry into the Lamb's Book of Life - They must agree.

  Have you thought of what this means to us;-- that in this prayer is included every son and daughter of Adam, who will believe in Christ as a personal Saviour, and take the requisite steps in repentance, conversion, faith, and baptism? We are baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost, and these three great, infinite powers are unitedly pledged to work in our behalf if we will co-operate with them. We are buried with Christ in baptism as an emblem of his death. We are raised from the water as an emblem of his resurrection. We are to live as new-born souls, that we may be raised at the last great day. You are to live in newness of life; for you are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God." This is where you are to place your treasure.  {GCB, April 4, 1901 par. 16}

It was noted earlier that the Sabbath is the seal of the living God.

Just as with ancient secular seals, the Sabbath contains the name of its author.  In particular, Exodus 20:11 says that "the Lord" created this world, and we find a similar thing in John 1:3 and Colossians 1:16.

If we go a little further with this, and consult the SOP, we find repeated statements that the Father and Son worked together in the process of creation.

So it's reasonable to suppose that the name mentioned in Revelation 14:1 is that of both the Father and the Son, since both names are reflected in the Sabbath seal.  The SDA Bible Commentary takes this approach, as do many Bible versions (I have no desire to get into an argument over the KJV vs. other versions).

It's interesting to note that the SOP talks specifically about Christ's name in the forehead, and I have included three such quotes below.

The 144,000 were all sealed and perfectly united. On their foreheads was written, God, New Jerusalem, and a glorious star containing Jesus' new name. At our happy, holy state the wicked were enraged, and would rush violently up to lay hands on us to thrust us into prison, when we would stretch forth the hand in the name of the Lord, and they would fall helpless to the ground. Then it was that the synagogue of Satan knew that God had loved us who could wash one another's feet and salute the brethren with a holy kiss, and they worshiped at our feet.  {EW 15.1}

Are our people reviewing the past and the present and the future, as it is unfolding before the world? Are they heeding the messages of warning given them? Is it our greatest concern today that our lives shall be refined and purified, and that we shall reflect the similitude of the divine? This must be the experience of all who join that company who are washed and made white in the blood of the Lamb. They must be arrayed in the righteousness of Christ. His name must be written in their foreheads. They must rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Christ has engraved the names of His people on the palms of His hands. He will never lose His interest in any dependent soul.  {1SM 56.2}

Notice particularly the next verse: "And they shall see His face; and His name shall be in their foreheads." When the glory of God rests upon the redeemed, they recognize Christ, for they see Him as He is. And the happiness revealed in their countenances is indescribable.  {2SAT 174.2}

T H E A L P H A & O M E G A   by     NADER MANSOUR    (A transcript of his video presentation)  What is the Alpha of deadly heresies, and where does it all climax to in the Omega? A must for all SDA's who want the truth of the matter.

   .... Opening prayer Abba, Father in heaven, we thank Thee that we can come before Thee, on Thy Holy Sabbath hours in the name of our Savior Jesus, who even now stands in Thy presence in the most Holy Place., offering up our worship and service today in an acceptable manner before Thee. Our Father, we invite the presence of Thine holy angels and Thy Spirit to be in our midst, and especially now as we open Thy word and look at some important things that are contained therein, Lord, regarding some of the things that are happening today. We pray that Thou give us clear minds and understanding in order to understand the things that are happening. May Thy Spirit be our instructor and our guide into all truth. This is our prayer in Jesus name. Amen.2

A blessed Sabbath to every one! Its a wonderful opportunity to study Gods word together. And today what were going to look at is a very important topic. It is the topic entitled the Alpha and the Omega. In the Bible we know who is the Alpha and the Omega? Its Jesus Christ. So today, the study were going to do is going to look at certain things about Jesus Christ. But well also look at an Alpha and Omega that is also described as a heresy. And so well look at some church history in this topic, and well see what we can learn that comes in contact with the person and the identity of Jesus Christ. This is what well be examining today. So I want you to pay careful attention because some things will require you to do some thinking. So dont just accept everything you hear; just exercise your thinking powers and think and reason on some of the things that well see together as well share them. And well see what we can understand about whats happening today all around us. Our first text is in Ecclesiastes, which gives us instruction as to what to do. Ecclesiastes chapter one gives us instruction regarding certain things and how they occur. Ecclesiastes 1:9, 10 and it says there: 3

The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. Is there anything whereof it may be said: See, this is new? It hath been already of old time which was before us. Ecclesiastes 1: 9, 10 So the Bible here tells us that certain things have a habit of repeating themselves. And, in order to understand some of the things that are happening today, where do we need to look? In the past. In the history. So today this is all well do: well do a historical examination into the history of our church to understand what is it about the situation with the Alpha and the Omega, because a lot of people today hear about the Omega of apostasy and a lot of people have a lot to say about the Omega of apostasy, but we need to see what does history declare about the Alpha, and from that well learn in particular what it is about the Omega, which will help us understand the situation that were in today. A lot of people think that whats happening today regarding certain issues that have been agitated is something totally new that hasnt happened before. But the Bible here tells us that there is nothing new under the sun. So today this is what well do We have a warning here from the Spirit of Prophecy, and well do a lot of reading together because this is a historical examination, so just keep alert with me. It says in Selected Messages, book 1, page 200: So when were talking about the Alpha and the Omega were talking about a heresy of what type? Its a deadly heresy. Do you think thats serious? That is very serious. Now Sister White tells us that the Omega will be received by a certain class of people who neglect to do something. Whats that? They will neglect to heed the warning that God has given.   4

In the book Living Temple there is presented the alpha of deadly heresies. The omega will follow, and will be received by those who are not willing to heed the warning God has given. 1Selected Messages, 200. So when were talking about the Alpha and the Omega were talking about a heresy of what type? Its a deadly heresy. Do you think thats serious? That is very serious. Now Sister White tells us that the Omega will be received by a certain class of people who neglect to do something. Whats that? They will neglect to heed the warning that God has given. So in order for us to avoid the Omega or understand what is it about, what we need to examine is what was the warning that God gave in regards to the Alpha? And once we understand the warnings that God gave regarding the Alpha, we are in a better position not to fall and be deceived by the Omega. So this is what well do today: well look at what the Alpha was all about, and well see what Sister White said, and well see what warnings God has given us. The Alpha occurred in the early 1900s in our church, when a very prominent physician, the most prominent physician in our church at the time, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg, wrote a book entitled The Living Temple, which Mrs. White just mentioned in the quote weve just read. In his book in The Living Temple Kellogg wrote some theology and certain things that Sister White objected to which well look at a little more in detail but the reason for the writing of the book was that the Battle Creek Sanitarium had actually burned to the ground the year before. And so it was suggested that Dr. Kellogg, being a very famous physician, and well written, that he would write a book and the funds that were generated by the sale of the book would help in rebuilding the Battle Creek Sanitarium. So this was a great idea but, sad to say, Dr. Kellogg inserted some of his theology that Sister White identified for us as heretical. 5

John Harvey Kellogg And well look a little bit in detail at this aspect of what Kellogg was trying to teach, because Sister White identified that as the Alpha of deadly heresies. So what were dealing with is a deadly heresy; we need to pay careful attention. Lets see what else is said. Were told in The Ministry of Healing were given a warning (p. 429): A very, very important statement, because Kellogg was seeking to penetrate beyond that which was revealed. So Mrs. White wrote that warning. But its interesting that she also says that the things that God has given us in His Word are for our study and this we are to seek to understand. So dont be deceived by someone telling you that Gods revelations about Himself in the Bible are a mystery. Because the servant of the Lord says, this we may seek to understand. What God has given us in His Word, we can understand. But beyond this we are not to penetrate. So here Kellogg was venturing on a ground beyond what revelation had given us. And Sister White continues, in Loma Linda Messages, page 253. Shes a bit more specific here. She says: 6

The secret things belong unto the Lord our God; but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children forever. Deuteronomy 29:29. The revelation of Himself that God has given in His word is for our study. This we may seek to understand. But beyond this we are not to penetrate. Ministry of Healing, 429. The teaching regarding God that is presented in Living Temple is not such as our students need. Those who express such sentiments regarding Him show that they are departing from the faith. Loma Linda Messages, p. 253. Here we see the issue that Dr. Kellogg was dealing with in his book, and he had inserted certain theology regarding what topic? She says the issue regarding God. Kellogg here was teaching or promoting something about God that Sister White identified as the Alpha of deadly heresies. And she said: its a departure from the faith. Its a very, very serious matter. So were looking at the warnings now that God has given us regarding the Alpha so that we can better understand the Omega. Well, lets see what is it that Kellogg was trying to teach about God in his book that called forth such strong warnings from the Spirit of Prophecy. What is it that he was teaching that Ellen White said its a deadly heresy thats a departure from the faith? Thats a good question to answer, isnt it? And we can find the answer, because once we find the answer well be better able to understand the warnings that God has given regarding the Alpha and regarding the Omega of deadly heresies. So what was [Kelloggs] belief in regards to God that he was trying to promote? Well, this is Arthur Daniells, the General Conference president of the time. And Arthur Daniells one day had a conversation with Dr. Kellogg and the conversation was so alarming to brother Daniells that he decided to write a letter to Willie White thats Ellen Whites son and share his concerns about what Kellogg had told him, because the issue was regarding the book that he wrote and the things that Ellen White said about it. This is the letter that he wrote. Lets see what he says in concern to Willie White. He says: Ever since the council closed I have felt that I should write you confidentially regarding Dr. Kelloggs plans for revising and republishing The Living TempleA. G. Daniells   7

So what did Kellogg want to do? He wanted to revise and republish The Living Temple. Why is that, do you think? Because Sister White gave the book some very good publicity didnt she? She said the book had heresies in it. So Kellogg said: OK, Ill rewrite it, Ill revise it. So he told Daniels that, but Daniels was concerned, he continues: 8

.....  He told me that he now believed in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost; and his view was that it was God the Holy Ghost, and not God the Father, that fills all space, and every living thing. He said if he had believed this before writing the book, he could have expressed his views without giving the wrong impression the book now gives. I placed before him the objections I found in the teaching, and tried to show him that teaching was so utterly contrary to the gospel that I did not see how it could be revised by changing a few expressions. Letter, A. G. Daniells to W. C. White, 10/29/1903, pp. 1, 2,  8

so this is a very revealing letter regarding the contents of Kelloggs book that he wanted to revise and regarding his theology that he was adopting, regarding God, which Ellen White told us about. Now its interesting. Kellogg said that he had come to believe what doctrine? The doctrine of the trinity. And specifically said he now believed in God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. Does that sound familiar to anyone? It does, doesnt it? This seems to be an issue that is being agitated today, and were going to see why its being agitated today. But, notice, the General Conference president at that time did something in that last paragraph. He said: I placed before him the objections I found in the teaching. The General Conference president was so concerned, he tried to correct Kellogg about this teaching. Today we have people preaching the same teaching from up the front. Its interesting how a turn around can come about. But well see a little closer what it means. Now what did Mrs. White think about that when Kellogg said, Im going to revise my book what I really believe in is the trinity Im trying to say basically I believe in God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. And he wanted to revise the book. 9

W. C. White. Well, lets see what Sister White said regarding that. Selected Messages, book 1, page 199. She says, It will be said that Living Temple has been revised, but the Lord has shown me that the writer has not changed, and that there can be no unity between him and the ministers of the gospel while he continues to cherish his present sentiments. I am bidden to lift my voice in warning to our people, saying, Be not deceived; God is not mocked (Gal. 6 :7). 1Selected Messages, 199.  ...... What were his present sentiments according to the admission of the General Conference president at that time? That he [Kellogg] believed in the trinity that he believed in God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. Sister White said ministers of the gospel should have no unity with Kellogg when he had his present sentiments. She says this is actually a mockery of who? Of God. She says: be not deceived; God is not mocked. So its a very serious issue Kellogg had come to believe. Oh, heres another one. This is a letter she wrote to Kellogg. She says: 10     You are not definitely clear on the personality of God, which is everything to us as a people. You have virtually destroyed the Lord God Himself. Letter 300 from Ellen White to Kellogg, 1903.                                            ...  Please download a PDF doc, or continue reading on  http://revelation1412.org/files/3714/2725/9512/Alpha_and_Omega_-_Transcript_Nader_Mansour.pdf   or watch the video on:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlgqyMdfRXs

The Formulation of the

Trinity Doctrine

 The doctrine of the Trinity has not always been a part of Christian teaching. In fact, this doctrine was not formally stated until the fourth century. It is very interesting to learn about the history of this doctrine. This paper is designed to show how the doctrine began to be discussed, the events that led up to a council regarding it, and the way in which it was finally accepted.

Much of the history you are about to learn is taken from a book entitled The Two Republics, written by A. T. Jones and published in 1891 by The Review and Herald Publishing Company, Battle Creek, Michigan. Unless otherwise noted, all the quotations in this paper are taken from this book. First, let us look at how the controversy began. The controversy is often called the Arian controversy. We pick up the story by looking at an incident that occurred in the city of Alexandria in the early part of the fourth century.

A certain Alexander was bishop of Alexandria. Arius was a presbyter in charge of a parish church in the same city. Alexander attempted to explain the unity of the Holy Trinity. Arius dissented from the views set forth by Alexander. A sort of synod of the presbyters of the city was called, and the question was discussed. Both sides claimed the victory, and the controversy spread. Then Alexander convened a council of a hundred bishops, by the majority of which the views of Alexander were endorsed. Upon this, Arius was commanded to abandon his own opinions, and adopt Alexanders. Arius refused, and Alexander excommunicated him and all who held with him in opinion, of whom there were a considerable number of bishops and other clergy, and many of the people. (Page 332)

As you can see, this was no small controversy.

What was the controversy all about?

Whether the Son of God, therefore, is of the same substance, or only of like substance, with the Father, was the question in dispute. The controversy was carried on in Greek, and as expressed in Greek the whole question turned upon a single letter. The word which expressed Alexanders belief, is Homoousion. The word which expressed the belief of Arius, is Homoiousion. One of the words has two is in it, and the other has but one; but why the word should or should not have that additional i, neither party could ever exactly determine. Even Athanasius himself, who succeeded Alexander in the bishopric of Alexandria, and transcended him in every other quality, has candidly confessed that whenever he forced his understanding to meditate upon the divinity of the Logos, his toilsome and unavailing efforts recoiled on themselves; that the more he thought, the less he comprehended; and the more he wrote, the less capable was he of expressing his thoughts.Gibbon Decline and Fall, chap. v, par. i.(Page 334)

It is very interesting to note that the main perpetrator of Alexanders views did not even understand the things which he was so adamant that others accept. Can it be wondered how so many people were reluctant to accept these new views about God?

Lets look at what Alexanders ideas entailed.

Alexander declared:The Son is immutable and unchangeable, all-sufficient and perfect, like the Father, differing only in this one respect, that the Father is unbegotten. He is the exact image of His Father. Everything is found in the image which exists in its archetype [original]; and it was this that our Lord taught when He said, My Father is greater than I. And accordingly we believe that the Son proceeded from the Father; for He is the reflection of the glory of the Father, and the figure of His substance. But let no one be led from this to the supposition that the Son is unbegotten, as is believed by some who are deficient in intellectual power: for to say that He was, that He has always been, and that He existed before all ages, is not to say that He is unbegotten. (Page 333)

According to Alexander, the only difference between the Father and Son is that the Son was begotten. In explaining how the Son was begotten, Alexander quotes Jesus in saying that He proceeded from the Father. Yet in his final statement Alexander asserts concerning the Son, that He has always been. Somehow he struggled to reconcile the idea of the Son being begotten with the new idea that He has always existed. We will examine this new idea later in this paper.

Let us now look at what Arius taught.

Arius said:We say and believe, and have taught, and do teach, that the Son is not unbegotten, nor in any way unbegotten, even in part; and that He does not derive His subsistence from any matter; but that by His own will and counsel He has subsisted before time, and before ages, as perfect God, and only begotten and unchangeable, and that He existed not before He was begotten, or created, or purposed, or established. For He was not unbegotten. We are persecuted because we say that the Son had a beginning, but that God was without beginning. This is really the cause of our persecution, and likewise, because we say He is from nothing. And this we say, because He is neither part of God, nor of any subjacent matter. (Page 333)

It is interesting to note that Arius used the word created when referring to the Son of God, but as you can see from the preceding statement, he understood that Christ was begotten of His Father, and therefore had a beginning. So Arius actually believed that Christ was the only begotten Son of God.

The spread of the controversy

Arius for himself wrote a book entitled Thalia,Songs of Joya collection of songs in which he set forth his views. This expedient took well, for in the excited state of the parties, his doctrinal songs were hummed everywhere. Alexander on his part, likewise, sent circular letters to the principal bishops round about. The controversy spread everywhere, and as it spread, it deepened. (Page 332)

Sailors, millers, and travelers sang the disputed doctrines at their occupations or on their journeys. Every corner, every alley of the city [this was said afterwards of Constantinople, but must have been still more true of Alexandria] was full of these discussions-the streets, the market-places, the drapers, the money-changers, the victualers. Ask a man how many oboli? he answers by dogmatizing on generated and ungenerated being. Inquire the price of bread, and you are told, The Son is subordinate to the Father. Ask if the bath is ready, and you are told, The Son arose out of nothing.Stanley History of the Eastern Church, Lecture iii, par. 10.

Constantines golden dream of a united Christendom was again grievously disturbed. (Page 337)

In an effort to bring the two parties together Constantine wrote a long letter to Arius and Alexander expressing his desire of having a united kingdom. This letter, however, had the opposite effect, because it caused each party to be more eager than ever to gain the emperors approval. The contention was deepened rather than abated.

The Council of Nicaea

In an attempt to settle the matter Constantine called a general council in A. D. 325 held in a city called Nice, thus known as The Council of Nicaea. There were 318 bishops present, not including an innumerable company of deacons, presbyters, acolytes, and other attendants.

Then the great question that had caused the calling of the council was taken up. There were three parties in the councilthose who sided with Alexander, those who sided with Arius, and those who were non-committal, or, through hope of being mediators, held the middle ground. Arius, not being a bishop, could not hold an official seat in the council, but he had come at the express command of Constantine, and was frequently called upon to express his opinions. Athanasius, who was more responsible for the present condition of the dispute than was Alexander himself, though only a deacon, came with his bishop Alexander. He, likewise, though not entitled to an official place in the council, played not a small part in the discussion and in bringing about the final result of the council.

The party of Alexander and Athanasius, it was soon discovered, could depend upon the majority of the council; and they determined to use this power in the formulation of such a statement of doctrine as would suit themselves first, and if it should be found impossible for the party of Arius honestly to accept it, so much the better they would be pleased.

In the discussion, some of the songs which Arius had written, were read. As soon as Alexanders party heard them, they threw up their hands in horror, and then clapped them upon their ears and shut their eyes, that they might not be defiled with the fearful heresy. (Page 347)

Notice that this same response was used by a group of people in the Bible. Stephen had just given a long speech on Jewish history when he exclaimed that they were guilty of murdering the Son of God. Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young mans feet, whose name was Saul. (Acts 7:57, 58)

Next the draft of a creed was brought in, signed by eighteen bishops of the party of Arius; but it was not suffered to exist long enough for anybody ever to obtain a copy. Their opponents broke into a wild uproar, tore the document to pieces, and expelled Arius from the assembly.

A creed introduced by Eusebius

Next, Eusebius of Cæsarea,Constantines panegyristthought to bring the parties together by presenting a creed that had been largely in use before this dispute ever arose. He stated that this confession of faith was one which he had learned in his childhood, from the bishop of Cæsarea, and one which he accepted at his baptism, and which he had taught through his whole career, both as a presbyter and as a bishop. As an additional argument, and one which he intended to be of great weight in the council, he declared that it had been approved by the emperor, the beloved of heaven, who had already seen it. It read as follows:                           Continue reading next page ......

Cont ... from page 1        The Formulation of the Trinity Doctrine

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of all things both visible and invisible, and in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Word of God, God of God, Light of Light, Life of Life, the only begotten Son, the First-born of every creature, begotten of the Father before all worlds, by whom also all things were made. Who for our salvation was made flesh, and lived amongst men, and suffered, and rose again on the third day, and ascended to the Father, and shall come in glory to judge the quick and the dead. And we believe in one Holy Ghost. Believing each of them to be and to have existed, the Father, only the Father; and the Son, only the Son; and the Holy Ghost, only the Holy Ghost: as also our Lord sending forth His own disciples to preach, said, Go and teach all nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: concerning which things we affirm that it is so, and that we so think, and that it has long so been held, and that we remain steadfast to death for this faith, anathematizing every godless heresy. That we have thought these things from our heart and soul, from the time that we have known ourselves, and that we now think and say thus in truth, we testify in thename of Almighty God, and of our Lord Jesus Christ, being able to prove even by demonstration, and to persuade you that in the past times also thus we believed and preached. (Pages 347, 348)

Eusebius of Cæsarea, the man who presented this creed, wrote a book entitled Eusebius Ecclesiastical History. In this book, he states his beliefs, which are the beliefs he learned as a child, which he taught throughout his career. He states:

For as no one hath known the Father, but the Son, so no one on the other hand, can know the Son fully, but the Father alone, by whom He was begotten. For who but the Father hath thoroughly understood that Light which existed before the world was-that intellectual and substantial wisdom, and that living Word which in the beginning was with the Father, before all creation and any production visible or invisible, the first and only offspring of God, the prince and leader of the spiritual and immortal host of heaven, the angel of the mighty council, the agent to execute the Fathers secret will, the maker of all things with the Father, the second cause of the universe next to the Father, the true and only Son of the Father, and the Lord and God and King of all created things, who has received power, and dominion with divinity itself, and power and honour from the Father Where he introduces the Father and maker as the Ruler of all, commanding with His sovereign nod, but the divine word as next to Him, the very same that is proclaimed to us, as ministering to His Fathers commands The Son Himself, however, by no means indifferent to the worship of the Father, is appointed to teach the knowledge of the Father to all Of Him, Moses obviously speaks as the second after the Father, intrusted with the second rank of sovereignty and rule over all, the captain of the Lords host, (Eusebius Ecclesiastical History, pages 15-17)

It is clear that Eusebius of Cæsarea understood that Christ was begotten (born) by the Father before all things. In his book he also quotes Proverbs 8:22-30 to prove his point.

In the back of the book just mentioned, there are several letters written shortly after the Council of Nicaea. I will share portions of some of them with you. Here is a portion of a letter written by Eusebius of Nicomedia: (Please note that this is a different Eusebius than the one from Cæsarea.)

We have never heard, my Lord, of two beings unbegotten, nor of one divided into two; nor have we learnt or believed that He could suffer any thing corporeal, but that there is one unbegotten, and another truly from Him, We believe not only that His origin cannot be explained in words, but that it cannot be comprehended, (Letter written by Eusebius of NicomediaA Historical View of the Council of Nice, by Isaac Boyle, page 41)

The strange idea that the Father and the Son were both unbegotten (without beginning) was new to the people at that time. They had always understood that there is one unbegotten (without beginning) and another begotten by Him (with a beginning). This was the common understanding of the majority of people at the time of, and prior to, the Council of Nicaea.

Lets carry on with the events of the Council of Nicaea. Eusebius of Cæsarea had just presented the creed which had been largely used prior to the controversy.

The party of Arius accept the creed

As soon as this [the statement of beliefs by Eusebius] was read in the council, the party of Arius all signified their willingness to subscribe to it. But this did not suit the party of Alexander and Athanasius; it was rather the very thing that they did not want, for they were determined to find some form of words which no Arian could receive. (Page 348)

Please notice that the Arians were in harmony with the teachings of Christians prior to the Council of Nicaea as presented in Eusebiuss creed. Yet this did not suit the party of Alexander.

They hunted about, therefore, for some point or some word, upon which they could reject it. It will be noticed that this creed says nothing about the substance of the Son of God, while that was the very question which had brought the council together. Eusebius, bishop of Nicomedia, was chief of the Arians who held seats in the council. At this point a letter was brought forth which he had formerly written, in which he had stated that to assert the Son to be uncreated, would be to say that he was of one substanceHomoousionwith the Father, and to say that He was of one substance was a proposition evidently absurd.

This gave to the party of Alexander and Athanasius the very opportunity which they desired; it supplied from the opposite party the very word upon which they had all the time insisted, and one of the chiefs of that party had declared that the use of the word in that connection was evidently absurd. If they, therefore, should insist upon the use of that very word, it would certainly exclude the Arian party. The letter produced a violent excitement. There was the very test of which they were in search; the letter was torn in pieces to mark their indignation, and the phrase which he had pledged himself to reject became the phrase which they pledged themselves to adopt.Stanley History of the Eastern Church, Lecture iii, par. 22. (Page 349)

Alexanders party attempts to add to the creed

As Constantine had approved the creed already read by Eusebius, the question of the party of Alexander now was whether he would approve it with the addition of this word, and the hopes of both parties now hung trembling upon the emperor. Hosius and his associates, having the last consultation with him, brought him over to their side. At the next meeting of the assembly, he again presented the creed of Eusebius, approved it, and called upon all to adopt it. Seeing, however, that the majority would not accept the creed of Eusebius as it was, Constantine decided to gain the assent of the orthodox, that is, the most powerful, part of the assembly, by inserting the disputed word. He trusted that by this insertion they might be gained, and yet that, under the pressure of fear and favor, the others might not be altogether repelled. He therefore took the course the most likely to secure this result, and professed himself the patron and also the interpreter of the new phrase.Stanley History of the Eastern Church, Lecture iii, par. 28.

Constantine ordered the addition of the disputed word. The party of Alexander and Athanasius, now assured of the authority of the emperor, required the addition of other phrases to the same purpose, so that when the creed was finally written out in full, it read as follows:

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of all things both visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, begotten of the Father, only begotten, that is to say, of the substance of the Father, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made, both things in heaven and things in earth; who for us men, and for our salvation, came down, and was made flesh, and was made man, suffered, and rose again on the third day, went up into the heavens, and is to come again to judge the quick and dead.

And in the Holy Ghost.

But those that say, There was when He was not, and Before He was begotten He was not, and that He came into existence from what was not, or who profess that the Son of God is of a different person or substance. or that He is created, or changeable, or variable, are anathematized by the Catholic Church.

Thus came the original Nicene Creed. (Pages 349, 350)

       Further alterations to the creed

This creed has been changed from its original. Please notice the changes that were made. Here is a copy of the Nicene Creed as it reads today:

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the Only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father[Original reads: the Son of God, begotten of the Father, only begotten], God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father [Original reads: that is to say, of the substance of the Father].

do you really think anyone is going to read all this that you have posted...it is lengthy...

suggest that people go back to the original SOP and their KJV bibles and read with understanding and noting every time there is a

reference to the Godhead to pray and ask God to sort it out for you...  see how EGW terms such...

we must be careful in these areas as there is so much that our little brains cannot fully understand

These are the no Holy Ghost people you are following, (the Symerna group ) they either never were, or once were and now no longer are SDA's, they violate Revelation Chapter 10, by their teachings and stance. If you continue to follow them so are you, yet you will claim being SDA, while you violate it.

You are only here to proselyte folks away from espousing Seventh Day Adventism.

2 Peter 2:1  But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

All followers of the Smyrna group fit these two texts, as long as you follow them, so do you.

Jude 1:4  For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Father God sent Jesus, and the Holy Spirit brought Him and by a painful process (to Jesus) overshadowed Mary and put and kept Jesus there till birth, Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit without rationing His presence within Him (without measure), by the power of the Holy Spirit offered Himself up for our sins - Gethsemane, Trial, Calvary, staying in the Tomb till the time Father God calls authorizing Him to come forth, the Holy Spirit represents Jesus's interests upon Earth till He personally returns.   To reject the Bible's declarations regarding The Divine GodHead is infidelity to Scripture & SOP.

You are not in your present ideological position a Seventh Day Adventist.

Why are you allowed here to proselyte ?

Your words are exactly correct, Ed.

Sonia, please repent of rejecting the Holy Spirit, and stop posting things against him here.

Thank you.

Dear Webmaster,

If she is rejecting the Holy Ghost, she can not repent, because He is the giver of the gift, receiving it from Jesus, who received it from Father God.

-Acts 17:30  And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

Acts 5:

30  The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.

31  Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

32  And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

Hebrews 5:1  For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:

Psalms 68:18  Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.

Ephesians 4:8  Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

John 15:5  I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Both repentance and forgiveness and forgiving others, are gifts from God obtained through Christ, sent by the Holy Ghost.
