Sabbath at Risk among SDA's ?

One Adm from one SDA Forum wrote this.

"Many of us seem to be forgetting how to prepare for the Sabbath. We used to clean the house on Friday, prepare the Sabbath food, polish our shoes, press our Sabbath clothes, put away secular reading, turn off the radio and TV, have sundown worship. And of course on Sabbath morning we would go to Sabbath School and church.

Unfortunately these days only around 50 percent of the members are present for services on any given Sabbath, and many of these don't arrive until just before the preaching service begins.

If we continue down the road we're on, within a short time the average Adventist will keep the Sabbath in the same way most other Christians keep Sunday. If things continue as they are trending, the Sabbath could soon be at risk among many."

I agree it is a common problem and it is a relationship problem in nature.  If we don't love the day He inhabits ( makes holy) can we say we love Him ?  Actually NO.

But actually obtaining love from God and for God and for Sabbath is a Divine set of gifts - not something we manufacture.  Start with Christ's Object Lessons p-384-385.

For those who do not use dairy ( all recipes can be veganized .)

John 6:51  I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

52  The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?

53  Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

54  Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

55  For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

56  He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.

57  As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.

58  This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

59  These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.

60 ¶  Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?

61  When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?

62  What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?

63  It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.        Look this up in Desire of Ages - Chap's 39-41

 Chap. 39 - "Give Ye Them to Eat" p-364-371  , Chap. 40 - "A Night on the Lake" p-377-382 , 41 - "The Crisis in Galilee"  p- 383-394

Yes, this resonates with me.

I remember as a kid starting to get ready for the Sabbath starting after lunch on Fridays.

We'd vacuum, polish, dust, take baths, get food cooked etc. to be ready to greet the Sabbath.

Being a kid, I thot that was just what all SDA families did.......

But growing up, I found out that was unusual.

Then getting older, moving away, travelling, living on my own etc., I found myself living a very different life too.

I vacuum and dust maybe once every 2 months or so, never polish, usually try to cook before Sabbath, and take my showers on the Sabbath.

Something has been lost.

.

.

Yes, eating the flesh and drinking the blood of Christ is just as important now as it was when Jesus commanded it nearly 2,000 years ago.
